St . Margaret ' s Lodge , 1872 who was proposed by

, Comp . Gibbes , seconded by Comp . Tyler . The result was in favour of the candidate , who will be exalted at a future meeting . The Companions having completed their own business , now prepared to recewe the members of the Province . Provincial Grand Chapter was formally opened by the Provincial Grand Superintendent , when the roll of Chapters was called , and it is gratifying to be able to state

that all the nine which constitute the Province were represented , The minutes ef last meeting of Provincial Grand Chapter , held afc Kingston , on the 9 th June last year , were read and confirmed . The Eeport of the Finance and Audit Committee showed a balance due to the Treasnrer , but this to a certain extent seems to hare been anticipated . Ifc was therefore suggested that the time had now arrived

when it would be desirable that a small charge should be made , and that each subscribing member to Chapters in the Province be called on to contribute . This suggestion seemed to be in accord with tho views of all present ; the only objection raised being thafc the amount named was scarcely sufficient to meet the requirements of the case , general Brownrigg expressed himself much gratified at the read y

response , but explained that any arrangement that might be come to ¦ fflnst be brought forward at the next regular meeting of Grand Chapter . The result was that notice was given in due form . Those "present , however , so fnlly entered into tho general desire to free themselves from liability thafc a clearance of the debt waa almost effected

Grand Superintendent , who then briefly addressed the Companions . After expressing himself intensely gratified with the excellent attendance , he said he now approached a

dnty that always gave him some amount of concern . Ifc waa well known to those present that he had only a very few collars practically at his disposal . When he joined the Poovince it could boast of bat three Chapters , now they had nine on the roll . Amongst so many deserving aspirants he found it very difhcnlt to make a selection . He thought he had exercised a very wise discretion , year by year , in

re-appointing Comp . Arnold as Second Principal . Comp . Arnold waa so earnest in all he did , and withal so assiduous , that the reliance he placed on hia services freed him ( General Brownrigg ) from a vast amount of anxiety . Comp . Arnold , however , thought with him , that honour should he conferred on another Companion who , ho might

say , had been equally zealous . He referred fco Comp . Greenwood . He had thereupon decided that he would this year appoint him aa Second Principal ; meanwhile he was assured he should still hare the advantage of the services of Comp . Arnold . General Brownrigg made allusion to the death of the Duke of Albany . Her Most Gracious Majesty and the Duchess of Albany , although almost overwhelmed with grief at fche loss they had sustained , appreciated the sympathy displayed by all classes throughout fche nation . He did nofc think it , however , necessary to keep open the sad remembrance by suggesting anv special address of condolence

from the members of his Province . After alluding to one or two other matters , the Grand Superintendent expressed his regret that this being the day fixed for the dinner of the Officers of the Eegiment to which he belonged he must , of necessity , leave them at an early hour ,. and concluded by again thanking the Com . panions for attending in suoh goodly numbers . A capital oold collation was served by the Companions of the Weyside Chapter , who must be congratulated on tbe possession of most comfortable quarters wherein to hold their meetings . Comp . Levy seconded , that the sum of two guineas be given from the funds of the Chapter to form a nucleus to present the worthy Firsfc Principal with a testimonial on his retiring , for the able and faithful discharge of his duties in the ohair for the second time ; and in token of the respect in which he ia held by the Companions . A letter of

condolence was proposed to be sent to the family of the late Comp . Albert P . Z . The resignation of two Companions was accepted , with regret . Tbe Chapter was then closed until November . The company then adjourned to the Salutation Tavern , Newgate-street , where a very excellent supper was supplied by Brother Liebmann ,

that gave great satisfaction . Among the toasts given were those oi the Exaltees , —Companions Myers , Genese , and Jewell . Comp . Lazarns P . Z . proposed fche health of the M . E . Z ., paying a deserved compliment to Comp . Lazarus for his excellent working and able presidency . This was suitably responded to . The toasts of the M . E . Z . elect , the P . Z .
