Royal National Life-Boat Institution.

ROYAL NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION .

THE Committee of Management of this Institution having been persistently impeached , felt they had no alternative but to apply to the House of Commons to appoint a Select Committee to inquire fully into the administration of the Institution , and into the adequacy of its organisation for saving life on our coasts . The Select Committee was accordingly appointed , and after going most carefully and fully into the affairs and

management of the Institution , and taking evidence at twenty-four long sittings from witnesses , it has submitted its Report to the House of Commons . This Report fully vindicates and justifies the Institution , and entirely clears the management of the serious charges made against it , and it is hoped it will be the means of fully restoring the confidence of the public in the Institution , which has been carried on since 1824 , and has resulted in the saving of 40 , 000 lives from shipwreck on our shores during that period .
