friend Bro . Conltbard installed , for he was initiated in the Lodge , and was " a right good fellow . " Bro . Flattery also responded , calling attention to the fact that he waa about to stand as Steward for one of the Masonio Charities ( the Old People ' s ) . Secretary , sharing with Bro . Isaacs , the Treasurer , an ovation of applause , testifying the great appreciation in which he was deservedly held . SINCERITY LODGE , No . 174 . rnHE brethren of this popular Lodge re-assembled after tho recess , - « - on Wednesday , the 21 sfc inst ., under the presidency of Brother Captain Thomas Francis Harvey , at the Guildhall Tavern , Gresham Street , E . C . The Lodge was opened by the W . M ., who was supported by his Officers and the following Past Masters : —Bros . Charles Lacey ( Treasurer ) , John Newton ( Secretary ); E . H . Brown , Wella , Barlow , C . H . Webb , Jones , Moore , & o . Among the visitors were Bros . C . A .

Oxenham 2096 , G . Ward Verry W . M . 1421 , John Brooks 51 , W . W . Morgan I . P . M . 211 . In the course of the evening Brother Stainer was raised to the sublime degree , and Bro . Walter Phillips , of Lodge No . 359 , was elected a joining member . Mr . F . Harvey , a candidate for initiation , was proposed by Brother Charles Lacey and seconded

by Brother Webb P . M . The result was unanimous in favour of Mr . Harvey , who was introduced , and regularly inducted into the mysteries of the first degree . A letter of condolence was directed to be sent ; to Bro . Harvey , who has jiisfc lost a daughter , and amongst other matters that received attention was an application from the

widow of a brother who some 30 years since had subscribed to this Lodge , bufc in the absence of any particulars being forthcoming as to when and where the brother ' s decease took place , the Lodge felt constrained to dismiss the appeal . A notice of motion was made that a sufficient sum should be voted at the next meeting to complete

the qualification of the Lodge for a Vice-Presidentcy of the Koyal Masonic Institution for Boys , and the proposition will doubtless be well received by the members of this proverbially charitable Lodge . After Lodge had been closed the brethren partook of a banquet , but

tho accommodation provided by Bros . Ritter and Clifford was quite unequal to the requirements of the large patty who signified their desire to partake . The after proceedings wore of an agreeable character .

PRINCE OF WALES LODGE , No . 1705 . ON Thursday , the 22 nd inst ., forty brethren of this Lodge , together with visitors from other Lodges , met at fche India Arms , Gosport , when Brother G . Darby was installed W . M . of fche Princo of Wales Lodge . The ceremony was impressively performed by Brother

T . Batchelor , and the Company afterwards sat down to an excellent banquet served by Brother G . K . Smith , of fche India Arras Hotel . A very pleasant evening was passed by the brethren who attended the gathering .

ROYAL SAVOY LODGE , No . 1744 . I ^ HE regular meeting of this Lodge was held on Tuesday , the 27 th insfc ., at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen Street , W . C Bro . Smith tho W . M . of the Lodge presided , and he was supported by Bros . W . M . Stiles I . P . M ., Smith J . W ., Willing P . M . Treasurer , Dickey Secretary , Barling J . D ., Ross D . C , Holland I . G ., Mordey Organist , Perry and Verdin Stewards , Scurrah Assistant Secretary ,

and a large number of members and visitors . The work comprised the passing of four brethren—Bros . Hunt , Powell and Sadgrove , members of the Henry Levander Lodge , and one brother of the Royal Savoy ; and the initiation of two gentlemen into Freemasonry . Other matters of business were disposed of previous to the closing of tho

Lodge , which was followed by a banquet m the Crown-room of Freemasons' Tavern . In due course the toast lisb was honoured . Tho Worshipfnl Master having proposed Loyalty to tho Throne and devotion to the best interests of the Craft , and tho toasfc having met a hearty reception , Bro . W . M . Stiles

proposed fche health of the Worshipfnl Master . As it was somewhat late ho hoped the brethren wonld forgive him if he did not give tho toast of the ruler of the Royal Savoy Lodge with as mnch impressiveness as it was worthy of . There was no difficulty iu singing tho

praises of so worthy a Mason as Bro J . W . Smith , who , as one of tho Founders of the Lodge , and as a subsequent Officer , had dono much on its behalf . He had exceeded all the expectations of those who had been associated with him in fche formation of tho

Lodge , and might be relied npon to always extend tho same amount of enthusiasm to the Lodgo as he then displayed . One and all of the members had appreciated his exertions as Worship ful Master of tho Lodge , and would unite in wishing him happiness dnring fche remainder of his year of office and long life

afterwards . Bro . Smith tendered his thanks for the very handsome manner in which the toast had been x-eceived . He should endeavour to carry out tho work of hia office to the best of his ability

ROYAL SAVOY LODGE , No . 1744 . I ^ HE regular meeting of this Lodge was held on Tuesday , the 27 th insfc ., at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen Street , W . C Bro . Smith tho W . M . of the Lodge presided , and he was supported by Bros . W . M . Stiles I . P . M ., Smith J . W ., Willing P . M . Treasurer , Dickey Secretary , Barling J . D ., Ross D . C , Holland I . G ., Mordey Organist , Perry and Verdin Stewards , Scurrah Assistant Secretary ,

and a large number of members and visitors . The work comprised the passing of four brethren—Bros . Hunt , Powell and Sadgrove , members of the Henry Levander Lodge , and one brother of the Royal Savoy ; and the initiation of two gentlemen into Freemasonry . Other matters of business were disposed of previous to the closing of tho

Lodge , which was followed by a banquet m the Crown-room of Freemasons' Tavern . In due course the toast lisb was honoured . Tho Worshipfnl Master having proposed Loyalty to tho Throne and devotion to the best interests of the Craft , and tho toasfc having met a hearty reception , Bro . W . M . Stiles

proposed fche health of the Worshipfnl Master . As it was somewhat late ho hoped the brethren wonld forgive him if he did not give tho toast of the ruler of the Royal Savoy Lodge with as mnch impressiveness as it was worthy of . There was no difficulty iu singing tho

praises of so worthy a Mason as Bro J . W . Smith , who , as one of tho Founders of the Lodge , and as a subsequent Officer , had dono much on its behalf . He had exceeded all the expectations of those who had been associated with him in fche formation of tho

Lodge , and might be relied npon to always extend tho same amount of enthusiasm to the Lodgo as he then displayed . One and all of the members had appreciated his exertions as Worship ful Master of tho Lodge , and would unite in wishing him happiness dnring fche remainder of his year of office and long life

afterwards . Bro . Smith tendered his thanks for the very handsome manner in which the toast had been x-eceived . He should endeavour to carry out tho work of hia office to the best of his ability
