GRAND STEWARDS' LODGE , Dec . 17 . —Public night . —The Second and Third Lectures were ably worked to thc satisfaction of a very numerous meeting of Brethren . ANTIQUITY , ( NO . 2 ) . —Thc last meeting of this Lodge was electrified ( Masonically ) by the address of Bro . B . B . Cabbell , who expressed himself in the strongest terms of indignation at the behaviour of a certain Grand Officer in not having drawn the attention of the Grand Master
to the case of Bro . Harris , the late Deputy Master and Master of the Lodge . It was well understood that the Deputy Masters , on completing their second year , were invariabl y invested with the purple ; and Bro . Harris , unwilling that the Lotlge should number amongst its Past Masters one that was considered unworthy , had retired in disgust . By this ( observed Bro . Cabbell ) a double injury had resulted : an insult had been passed on the Lodge ; and the retirement of the offended
party was the consequence . Feeling deeply for the honour of the Lodge , he had waited on the Earl of Zetland , the M . W . Grand Master , who stated that he ( Lorcl Z . ) was not cognizant of the precedent ; ancl , therefore , could not of himself be aware that he had deviated from the course adopted by PI . II . IT . the late Duke of Sussex . AVhether justice ivould or ivould not be clone to the Lodge and Bro . Harris was yet to be seen . Bro . Cabbell spoke with considerable impulsive feeling ; and
his address created great sensation . * EMULATION LODGE OP IMPROVEMENT , ( NO . 318 , ) Nov . 14 . —Anniversary Meeting . —A numerous party assembled this evening to pay due honour to the memory of the late " Bro . Peter Gilkes , " the founder of this Lodge ; ancl , in compliment to those staunch supporters of the system of working—which may be justly considered the very best and purest in practice—we trust that those into whose hands the practical developement of the operative department of our glorious art is entrusted ,
