thought he was going to give them both the W . following in the footsteps of his departed father and wished him a happy and prosperous year of office . Bro . Hayter , P . The large attendance of members of the lodge and visitingbrethren testified to the popularity of the VV . M . Seven gentlemen were approved in open lodge and five initiated . The musical service was highly appreciated , and the beauty and solemnity of the ceremony was very much enhanced thereby , the W . M . working the Degree in a most impressive manner . Bro . F . G . Whitfield was elected as a joining member an d Bro . H . L . Cole as a re-joining member . The I . P . M ., Bro . H . Taylor , by the courtesy of the W . M ., passed Bro . A . Clark .
The brethren sat down , to the number of 70 , to an excellent dinner , provided by the Sutton Masonic Hall Company , but owing to many more being present than were expected , it was not altogether so successful as it ought to have been . The musical brethren again delighted the company with some excellent glees , songs , & c , under the superintendence of Bro . T . A . Hill , ably assisted by Bros . Ward , Asman , Stribling , and many others . The new Masonic Hall was admired by the visitors on all sides , and the comfort provided for the brethren was highly appreciated .
Kennington Lodge , No . 1381 . A meeting of this Iodge took place at the Horns Tavern , Kennington Pa * k , on the 7 th ult ., when there were present among others Bros . James Barry , VV . The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , Bros . W . H . Robinson and C . J . Mold were raised to thc Third Degree , and Bros . W . E . Crichton and A . J . Hawkins passed to the Second Degree , both ceremonies being creditably performed bv the W . M . It being election night , Bro . Chisholm was unanimously elected W . M . ; Bro . R . La Feuillade , P . Chisholm , S . W ., Master elect , was
elected to represent the lodge as Steward at the Centenary Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and Bro . Major Walls gave as a notice of motion " Thit the lodge vote a sum of money from the funds towards the Stewards' list . " The lodge heard with much regret that Bro . George Everett , P . G . T ., was still too indisposed to leave the house . The lodge was then closed . Refreshment followed labour . Upon the removal of the cloth , the customary toasts received full justice .
In responding to the toast of his health , the W . M . expressed his acknowledgments to the Past Masters and to the officers for the loyal support that they had rendered him during his year of office . His time of office had been clouded by the sudden death of the I . P . M . ; but it had been a source of gratification to him to know that their deceased Bro . Colwell's two children had within a few months of their father ' s death been respectively admitted to the benelits of the Girls' and Boys' Misonic Institutions . All
had worked well towards thc good cause , but one member in particular , namely , Bro , George Everett , had displayed great energy in the matter . The proposer of the toast had mentioned one particular circumstance , and that was the indebtedness of the lnd < re to several members who had borrowed votes to secure the children's election , and the statement that those votes would have to be repaid was quite correct . 'Ihe VV . M . then gave " The Master Elect . "
Bro . Chisholm , in reply , said that he desired to discharge his duties to the satisfaction of the brethren , and he trusted that the Past Masters , without exception , would give him their confidence and adhesion . He also hoped that the lodge would support his Steward ' s list , and that the amount taken up would be alike creditable to the lodge and to the Boys' Institution . Bros . Higgins and Westley responded on behalf of " The Past Masters , " and Bros . Davies * , Wolsey , and Hopkins for "The Officers . " The latter brother ably officiated at the pianotorte .

The new Masonic Hall was admired by the visitors on all sides , and the comfort provided for the brethren was highly appreciated .

elected to represent the lodge as Steward at the Centenary Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and Bro .
