A . Clark , and seconded by Bro . C . VV . Fromholtz . On rising for the second time Bro . G . H . Foan vvas unanimously elected VV . M . for the ensuing week , appointing his officers in rotation , and announcing his intention of working the First and Second Degrees . On

rising for the third time , the Deputy Preceptor proposed that a hearty and cordial vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to Bro . VV . Groves for the manner in which he had occupied and carried out the duties of the chair for the first time in this or any other lodge of instruction . Seconded by the J . VV ., and carried unanimously . The W . M . made a suitable reply . Nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge vvas closed .

STUART LODGE ( No . 1632 ) . —A meeting of this lodge vvas held on Thursday , the 20 th ult ., at the Moorgate , Finsbury Pavement , when there were present Bros . M . Spiegel , P . M ., Preceptor , VV . M . j Pettit , W . M . 1632 , S . W . ; Vickers , P . M . 1632 , J . W . ; Baldwin , P . M . 1632 , I . P . M . ; Morgan , Sec . ; and numerous others . The visitors were Bros . Higgens , Cotton , Cox , Woodward , Burgess ,

Clarke , and others . This being the annual festival , the lodge vvas formally opened and the minutes confirmed . The lodge was called to refreshment , and the brethren adjourned to a real oldfashioned English dinner , vvhich vvas admirably served by the host , Mr . Fred . Glover . The usual loyal toasts were proposed by the W . M .

Bro . Baldwin , P . M ., proposed "The Prosperity of the Stuart Lodge of Instruction , " and coupled with it the Preceptor of the lodge . He said Bro . Spiegel vvas one of the veterans in Freemasonry . He devoted all his spare time for the good of Masonry , and the lodge appreciated his services ; he vvas one of the founders of the mother lodge , and all who attended the lodge of instruction knew how to

value his services . Bro . Spi > gel , in reply , said in that lodge of instruction he had laid down a principle not to interfere with the working which a brother might be used to in another lodge , although it might be a little different from theirs . In the course of his remarks he said he considered it very uncourteous for one Preceptor to criticise the working of another . As long

as thc ceremony did not suffer , why should we stop a brother in the working which he was used to in another lodge . All Preceptors tried to do their best for the benefit of those who came for instruction . Bro . Pettit , S . VV ., then proposed " The Visitors , " vvhich vvas responded to by every visitor , Bro . Higgins taking the lead .

The toast of "The Past Masters of the Mother Lodge " vvas proposed by the W . M ., and responded to by all the Past Masters present . The next toast proposed vvas " 1 he Absent Members , " especially Bros . Fruen , W . M . elect 1632 , and Bro . T . Poore , Sec . of the mother lodge . The toast of "The Secretary , Bro . Morgan , " and his response , concluded the festival .

The musical arrangements vvere under the conductorship j of Bro . Professor Luis Lee , who was assisted by Bros . I Vickers , Baldwin , Woodward , Turner , Clark , Beaumont , and Pettit , with some excellent songs . The lodge was then called on , and , on rising for the first time , all the visitors expressed their wish to become joining members , and vvere proposed and unanimously accepted . Bro . Pettit was elected W . M . for theensuing meeting , and j lodge closed after spending a very enjoyable evening .

rising for the third time , the Deputy Preceptor proposed that a hearty and cordial vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to Bro . VV . Groves for the manner in which he had occupied and carried out the duties of the chair for the first time in this or any other lodge of instruction . Seconded by the J . VV ., and carried unanimously . The W . M . made a suitable reply . Nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge vvas closed .

STUART LODGE ( No . 1632 ) . —A meeting of this lodge vvas held on Thursday , the 20 th ult ., at the Moorgate , Finsbury Pavement , when there were present Bros . M . Spiegel , P . M ., Preceptor , VV . M . j Pettit , W . M . 1632 , S . W . ; Vickers , P . M . 1632 , J . W . ; Baldwin , P . M . 1632 , I . P . M . ; Morgan , Sec . ; and numerous others . The visitors were Bros . Higgens , Cotton , Cox , Woodward , Burgess ,

Clarke , and others . This being the annual festival , the lodge vvas formally opened and the minutes confirmed . The lodge was called to refreshment , and the brethren adjourned to a real oldfashioned English dinner , vvhich vvas admirably served by the host , Mr . Fred . Glover . The usual loyal toasts were proposed by the W . M .

Bro . Baldwin , P . M ., proposed "The Prosperity of the Stuart Lodge of Instruction , " and coupled with it the Preceptor of the lodge . He said Bro . Spiegel vvas one of the veterans in Freemasonry . He devoted all his spare time for the good of Masonry , and the lodge appreciated his services ; he vvas one of the founders of the mother lodge , and all who attended the lodge of instruction knew how to

value his services . Bro . Spi > gel , in reply , said in that lodge of instruction he had laid down a principle not to interfere with the working which a brother might be used to in another lodge , although it might be a little different from theirs . In the course of his remarks he said he considered it very uncourteous for one Preceptor to criticise the working of another . As long

as thc ceremony did not suffer , why should we stop a brother in the working which he was used to in another lodge . All Preceptors tried to do their best for the benefit of those who came for instruction . Bro . Pettit , S . VV ., then proposed " The Visitors , " vvhich vvas responded to by every visitor , Bro . Higgins taking the lead .

The toast of "The Past Masters of the Mother Lodge " vvas proposed by the W . M ., and responded to by all the Past Masters present . The next toast proposed vvas " 1 he Absent Members , " especially Bros . Fruen , W . M . elect 1632 , and Bro . T . Poore , Sec . of the mother lodge . The toast of "The Secretary , Bro . Morgan , " and his response , concluded the festival .

The musical arrangements vvere under the conductorship j of Bro . Professor Luis Lee , who was assisted by Bros . I Vickers , Baldwin , Woodward , Turner , Clark , Beaumont , and Pettit , with some excellent songs . The lodge was then called on , and , on rising for the first time , all the visitors expressed their wish to become joining members , and vvere proposed and unanimously accepted . Bro . Pettit was elected W . M . for theensuing meeting , and j lodge closed after spending a very enjoyable evening .
