The seventh annual supper of the Coborn Lodge of Instruction , No . 1 S 04 , vvill take place at the Eagle Hotel , Snaresbrook , on Monday , the 17 th inst . Bro . H . T . Nell , P . M . and Sec . 45 , and D . C . 227 S , will preside .

A ceremony of installation will be rehearsed at the Star Chapter of Instruction on this ( Friday ) evening , at 7 . 30 p . m ., at the Stirling Castle Hotel , Church-street , Camberwell , when all Principals and P . Z . ' s vvill be heartily greeted .

The Duke of Connaught Lodge of Instruction , No . 1524 , has been removed from the Royal Edward , Hackney , to the Lord Stanley Hotel , Paragon-road , Hackney , and the meetings held every Saturday at 8 o ' clock , instead of Wednesday , as formerly .

The consecration of the Clemency Lodge , No . 2341 , will take place at the Masonic Hall , Union-street , Oldham , on vvhich occasion Bro . Col . Le Gendre Nicholas Starkie , P . G . M . E . Lanes ., will be the presiding officer . The installation ceremony will be performed by Bros . A . Clegg , " P . P . S . G . W ., and Hollingworth . Bro . Rev . T . W . Lemon , D . D ., on Monday , the ioth

ult ., presented to Sincerity Lodge , St . George s Hall , Stonehouse , four illuminated complimentary votes of thanks on vellum and framed , granted to him by the three great Masonic Charities in London . The lodge voted two guineas to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution for the aged , to be placed on the list of Bro . Lemon , who vvas a Steward for it .

About 200 guests gathered together in the large hall of the Public Rooms , Hull , on the evening of the iSth ult ., at the Masonic Charity ball , held under the auspices of the Humber Lodge , No . 57 . The room vvas nicely decorated with plants and tapestry , and generally the arrangements combined to the comfort of everyone . Close ' s Band supplied the music , and Bros . E . Corris , P . M ., and R . j . McLeavy , assisted by a number of stewards , conducted the

. The annual ball promoted by the Constitutional Lodge , No . 294 , vvas held on Monday night , the 17 th ult ., at the Assembly Rooms , Beverley , and attended by about 130 guests . The W . M ., Bro . Thomas Foley , and several Past

Masters vvere present , as vvere also the W . M ., Bro . Highmoor , and several members of the Sykes Lodge . Messrs . Young and Evans' band furnished a choice selection of music . Supper was provided by Mrs . Green , of the Dog and Duck Inn . Dancing vvas kept up till nearly five the following morning . The room vvas prettily decorated by Messrs . Ewell and Son .

A "late Secretary of Legation to the Court of St . James " publishes , through Mr . Stanesby , of Brompton-road , a book called " Nocturnal London , " a section of which is devoted to our theatres . The chapter would appear to have been written some time ago , for vve find the Prince of Wales's

Theatre referred to as the Prince ' s , and the author tells his readers that " at the Comedy you will find the comic opera , " which is not now the case . However , the date at which the "Secretary of Legation" wrote is not very remote , for he has a reference to the Empire Theatre , which he praises for its elegance and comfortableness .

The seventh half-yearly meeting of the shareholders of the Ascot Vale Masonic Hall Company , Limited , near Melbourne , Australia , vvas held on the Sth January , Bro . W . F . Lamonby , chairman of the directors , presiding . A very satisfactory report and balance-sheet was submitted and adopted . The directors recommended a dividend at the rate of 9 per cent per annum on the subscribed capital ,

but an amendment that it be 6 per cent , was carried by a small majority . The four retiring directors vvere re-elected . A vote of thanks vvas accorded the directors , and the Secretary , Bro . F . G . Wilson . The first annual ball in connection with the Derby Lodge , No . 724 , vvas held , on the iSth ult ., in the City Hall , Eberlestreet , Liverpool , when there vvas a large attendance of

members of the lodge , brethren of other lodges , and friends . The ball was in aid of the funds of the West Lancashire Educational Institution , and it is expected that a substantial sum , to be devoted to this deserving institution , will be the result of that nighps very pleasurable gathering , the arrangements for vvhich had been made by an energetic

committee , headed by Bro . C . W . Higson , W . M ., with Bro . T . Holmes as Honorary Secretary , and Bro . G . Beeken , P . M ., as Honorary Treasurer . The music vvas supplied by Bro . Busfield ' s band , and the duties of M . C . were discharged by Bro . J . Humphreys . Dancing was kept up until three o'clock the next morning .

Under the auspices of the Lodge of United Brethren , No . 34 6 , a Masonic concert vvas given on Monday evening , the 17 th ult ., at the Grosvenor Hotel , Blackburn . The assembly room had been specially decorated for the occasion . There was a large attendance of ladies and gentlemen . The vocalists were Miss Conway , Mr . James Stanley , and Mr . J . W . Barton j Mr . J . J . Abbott and Mr . Seed

supplied the orchestration , and Mr . Arthur Miller accompanied , and with Miss Lamb performed Rossini ' s " William Tell , " while Mr . Wilson Blackledge contributed several humorous sketches . About 10 o'clock dancing commenced , and was kept up for about four hours . Mr . W . Lamb proved a courteous , obliging , and efficient M . C , Bros . G . Chew and J . R . Duckworth , as Stewards , contributing

greatly to the success of the gathering by their assiduity and indefatigable exertions . Among the latest houses supplied with Austin's Sanitary Cylinders , are those of Peers , Judges , Doctors , & c . They are used in Hospitals , Clubs , Hotels . Names will be given

Mrs . George Augustus Sala , who vvas married only a few week since , has had a second attack of influenza , but is now slowly recovering . Bro . Lord George Hamilton , and a number of high Admiralty officials paid a visit to the Ordnance Department at Woolwich Arsenal on Thursday .

Bro . P . H . Emanuel was installed W . M . of the Portsmouth Temperance Lodge , No . 206 S , on Monday last , at the Soldiers' Institute , Portsmouth . We shall give a full report of the proceedings in our next . Mr . Arthur Bearne has secured a very smart little play from Mr . Broughton called " The Bailiff , " with vvhich his provincial " jEsop ' s Fables" company will preface their performances . Londoners will , in all probability , first see this curtain raiser at the Court .

Miss Annie Albu , prima donna of the Carl Rosa Opera Company , will make her first appearance at the Alhambra on Monday next . " Our Army and Navy " will be shortly withdrawn , and will be replaced by a new ballet , in vvhich Mdlle . Verge will make her debut in London .

Comp . I . H . Sillitoe , P . G . H . East Lancashire , installed Comps . W . Duckworth , as Z . j and Hamlet Lees , as J . ( the Second Principal elect vvas unable to attend through illness ) in the Tudor Chapter , No . 277 , Oldham , on Monday , the 17 th ult . j he also installed the various officers in the chapter .

Comp . Col . Le Gendre N . Starkie , Grand Superintendent of East Lancashire , has fixed Thursday , the 20 th inst ., for holding the Provincial Grand Chapter meeting , in the mag-, nificently appointed suite of Masonic rooms recently opened in the Victoria Hotel , Manchester .

The vvill of Mr . J . J . Astor , the American millionaire , has been published . He leaves § 110 , 000 to St . Luke's Hospital , and the same amount to the Cancer Hospital in New York , § 400 , 000 to the Astor Library , and a sum of § 160 , 000 is devoted to legacies to friends , charities , and various artistic and literary objects . The remainder of the estate passes to the testator ' s son .

The Carl Rosa Grand Opera Company has just concluded at Liverpool the longest and most successful engagement it has ever had there . That engagement has lasted for seven weeks , and next year—said Mr . H . Bruce , in his genial address on the last night of the " run " —the company may even stay longer . At Drury Lane , where the troupe opens on April 5 , it will be seen for four weeks certain , and for even longer , if the public support justifies the extension of the season .

_ The latest instalment of Mr . Jefferson's autobiography ( in the Century for March ) is the most interesting that has yet appeared . It includes some pleasant reminiscences of Laura Keene , of the original production of " Our American Cousin , " and the first American representations of " Dot " and the " Octoroon . " The woodcuts in this instalment are especially good . In the same issue of the Century , Henrik Ibsen and his work are very intelligently discussed by a compatriot of the dramatist .

The will and codicil of Bro . Robert Farran , formerly of St . Paul's-churchyard , and late of 7 , Oak-hill-road , Surbiton , bookseller and publisher , who died on December 13 th last , vvere proved on the 14 th ult ., the value of the personal estate amounting to over £$ 0 , 000 . The testator bequeaths

£ 1000 and his furniture and household effects to his daughter ; £ 100 to each of his executors , Mr . Farran and Mr . Green j and £ 100 to each of his five brothers and sisters . The residue of his property he leaves to all his children in equal shares .

Our readers will regret to hear that Bro . H . H . Crawford ( City Solicitor ) , is seriously ill . Commencing with the influenza it subsequently developed into acute inflammation of the lungs . At one time he vvas delirious , his condition being most critical , Mr . Gordon Brown , who is in attendance , entertaining the greatest fears regarding his patient .

During the last few clays Bro . Crawford has somewhat improved , though he is still very seriously ill . Bro . Crawford has rooms at the Hotel Metropole where he is now lying . Under the most favourable circumstances , some weeks , it is feared , must elapse before Bro . Crawford is again able to make his appearance amongst his friends .

A meeting of the Lodge of Unity , No . 183 , vvas held at the Ship and Turtle , Leadenhall-street , E . C , on Monday last , when there were present Bros . H . Hooper , W . M . j R . Corsham , S . In connection with the approaching opening of the "Tivoli" in the Strand , of which Bro . Potter , late of the Gaiety , is to be the manager , a paragraph recently appeared in Gale's Licensed Victuallers' Mirror vvhich vvas not very complimentary to our worthy brother . It vvas evidently a case of mistaken identity , and the Editor has lost no time in making the amende honorable , as the following letter will show :

" Dear Mr . Potter , " I am exceedingly sorry to find that my theatrical contributor should have been so stupid as to have confounded you with a Mr . Potter , of Liverpool , and I trust you vvill accept the sincere expressions of my deep regret for the error . Bro . the Lord Mayor vvill preside at a dinner in aid of the funds of the Association for the Oral Instruction of the Deaf and Dumb on Monday , 12 th May , at the Hotel Metropole .

The Connaught Cricket Club Smoking Concert will take place at the Champion Hotel , Aldersgate-street , on Friday the 7 th inst ., at 7 . 30 , Bro . T . W . Ockenden , P . M ., in the chair . Mr . J . Bagot Scriven , of the firm of Messrs . Barclay , Perkins , and Co ., has consented to preside at the 63 rd

anniversary dinner of the Licensed Victuallers' Asylum r vvhich will take place at the Crystal Palace in May next . In connection with the opening of the Forth Bridge , Industries will issue a special edition , containing an elaborate description of the bridge . It contains upwards of 120-illustrations , portraying , in chronological order , the progress and mode of erection of the bridge .

Bro Sir Charles Graves Savvle , Bart ., on Tuesday afternoon consecrated a new lodge of Mark Master Masons , at Penzance . It will be known as St . John the Baptist Lodge . Bro . Major John Ross , brother of Mr . Charles Ross , formerly M . P . for St . Ives , is the first W . M .

The Freemason , of Saturday , contains a very faithfully executed sketch of the old ball-room in the Mansion House , with the Masonic lodge furniture and appointments , as prepared for the late installation . of Lord Mayor Isaacs aa Master of the Drury Lane Lodge , on the nth ult . — -The Citizen .

On Tuesday , May 6 th , the anniversary of the opening of the Paris Exhibition , 1 SS 9 , has been fixed for the presentation of the testimonial in recognition of Bro . Alderman Sir Pol y dore de Keyser ' s services in connection with the Britishsection of the exhibition . The testimonial will consist of an illuminated address and a silver centre-piece , and by permission of the Lord Mayor vvill be presented at the Mansion-House .

" Lord Mayor Isaacs , at his banquet to the Freemasons , set a good example—followed by many guests—inthe brevity of his welcome speech . He believes in the old saw— ' solid men of London drink no deep potations and make no long orations . ' A dinner speech should be of a souffle order—a sugar soupcon , a handful of well whipped cream , and a tiny piece of fruit to balance the light and airy combination . "—Evening News .

A new club is announced , entitled the Albany Club , with ? premises at Kingston-on-Thames , having a river frontage of 420 feet , lt is founded on a similar basis to that of the leading social clubs in London , with similar conditions and qualifications for membership j and is a proprietary club .

The wives , daughters , and sisters of members are alsoeligible for election . With regard to the club premises , the beautiful old mansion of the late Sir C . Freake has beensecured , with the-charming grounds in vvhich it is situated .-It is intended to hold monthly dinners , garden parties , and other entertainments .

1 he will and codicil of Bro . Henry Greene , C . C , late of 155 , Cannon-street , lamp , lustre , china and glass manufacturer , who died on November 27 th last , at Buxton , wereproved , on the iSth ult ., by Mr . Thomas Arthur Greene and Mrs . Emily Matilda Truscott ( the daughter ) , the executors ,

the value of the personal estate amounting to over £ 20 , 000 . After giving legacies to relatives , assistants , book-keeper , clerks , servants , and others , the residue of his real and personal estate ( except his copyhold property at Edgware , vvhich he does not dispose of ) he leaves to hissaid daughter and his two stepsons in equal shares .

The remains of the late Bro . Thomas Mason , of Colne , were interred on the 24 th ult ., at the Colne Cemetery . The * cortege left Alkincoats at 11 o ' clock , and vvas headed by the workmen of Primete Mills walking four abreast , and proceeded to the parish church ( St . Bartholomew ) , where it

vvas met by the Rev . VV . Clifford , vicar , who conducted the service , and the choir . The service vvas fully choraL Among those who attended the funeral were a deputationfrom the Royal Lancashire Lodge , and a deputation fromthe Colne Local Board .

We understand it is in contemplation to invite the Pro--vincial Grand Lodge of Kent to hold its appoaching annual festival , in June next , at Chatham . The subject vvas considered at the meeting of the Royal Kent Lodge of Antiquity , No . 20 , last week , and it vvas ultimately decided

to leave the contemplated invitation in the hands of a com--mittee to consider and report thereon . It is 17 years sincethe Provincial Grand Lodge of Kent held its annual festivalat Chatham , in which town the Provincial Grand Lodge assembled in 1 S 73 .

MASONIC RE-UNION . —On the 20 th ult ., the fourthannual re-union in connection with St . John ' s Lodge , No .-6 73 , Bro . J . O . Mallabar , W . M ., took the form of a concert and dance in the Rodney Hall . The vocalists contributing to the enjoyable entertainment , with vvhich the proceedingscommenced , vvere Miss Fanny Bouffleur , Miss Hicks , Miss-Ida Clark , Miss Leighton , Mr . hen . Roberts , Mr . N . F .

Burt , Mr . C . H . Workman , and Master Arthur Dicks , a juvenile pianist , who played wonderfully well , although hislittle fingers do not enable him to strike an octave . Theaccompaniments were supplied by Bro . A . E . Workman ,-with his usual skill and taste . The concert over , the haltwas cleared for dancing , and though the concert vvas allowed by all present to have been an excellent and most

enjoyableone , yet much more enjoyment vvas derived by the majority ' of the brethren and their friends from the latter portion of the : re-union programme . The dance music vvas supplied by Hudson's string baud , Bro . A . E . Workman being a highly efficient Master of Ceremonies . The proceeds of the re--union are to be devoted to the West Lancashire Masonic Charities .

A "late Secretary of Legation to the Court of St . James " publishes , through Mr . Stanesby , of Brompton-road , a book called " Nocturnal London , " a section of which is devoted to our theatres . The chapter would appear to have been written some time ago , for vve find the Prince of Wales's

Theatre referred to as the Prince ' s , and the author tells his readers that " at the Comedy you will find the comic opera , " which is not now the case . However , the date at which the "Secretary of Legation" wrote is not very remote , for he has a reference to the Empire Theatre , which he praises for its elegance and comfortableness .

The seventh half-yearly meeting of the shareholders of the Ascot Vale Masonic Hall Company , Limited , near Melbourne , Australia , vvas held on the Sth January , Bro . W . F . Lamonby , chairman of the directors , presiding . A very satisfactory report and balance-sheet was submitted and adopted . The directors recommended a dividend at the rate of 9 per cent per annum on the subscribed capital ,

but an amendment that it be 6 per cent , was carried by a small majority . The four retiring directors vvere re-elected . A vote of thanks vvas accorded the directors , and the Secretary , Bro . F . G . Wilson . The first annual ball in connection with the Derby Lodge , No . 724 , vvas held , on the iSth ult ., in the City Hall , Eberlestreet , Liverpool , when there vvas a large attendance of

members of the lodge , brethren of other lodges , and friends . The ball was in aid of the funds of the West Lancashire Educational Institution , and it is expected that a substantial sum , to be devoted to this deserving institution , will be the result of that nighps very pleasurable gathering , the arrangements for vvhich had been made by an energetic

committee , headed by Bro . C . W . Higson , W . M ., with Bro . T . Holmes as Honorary Secretary , and Bro . G . Beeken , P . M ., as Honorary Treasurer . The music vvas supplied by Bro . Busfield ' s band , and the duties of M . C . were discharged by Bro . J . Humphreys . Dancing was kept up until three o'clock the next morning .

Under the auspices of the Lodge of United Brethren , No . 34 6 , a Masonic concert vvas given on Monday evening , the 17 th ult ., at the Grosvenor Hotel , Blackburn . The assembly room had been specially decorated for the occasion . There was a large attendance of ladies and gentlemen . The vocalists were Miss Conway , Mr . James Stanley , and Mr . J . W . Barton j Mr . J . J . Abbott and Mr . Seed

supplied the orchestration , and Mr . Arthur Miller accompanied , and with Miss Lamb performed Rossini ' s " William Tell , " while Mr . Wilson Blackledge contributed several humorous sketches . About 10 o'clock dancing commenced , and was kept up for about four hours . Mr . W . Lamb proved a courteous , obliging , and efficient M . C , Bros . G . Chew and J . R . Duckworth , as Stewards , contributing

Bro . P . H . Emanuel was installed W . M . of the Portsmouth Temperance Lodge , No . 206 S , on Monday last , at the Soldiers' Institute , Portsmouth . We shall give a full report of the proceedings in our next . Mr . Arthur Bearne has secured a very smart little play from Mr . Broughton called " The Bailiff , " with vvhich his provincial " jEsop ' s Fables" company will preface their performances . Londoners will , in all probability , first see this curtain raiser at the Court .

Miss Annie Albu , prima donna of the Carl Rosa Opera Company , will make her first appearance at the Alhambra on Monday next . " Our Army and Navy " will be shortly withdrawn , and will be replaced by a new ballet , in vvhich Mdlle . Verge will make her debut in London .

The vvill of Mr . J . J . Astor , the American millionaire , has been published . He leaves § 110 , 000 to St . Luke's Hospital , and the same amount to the Cancer Hospital in New York , § 400 , 000 to the Astor Library , and a sum of § 160 , 000 is devoted to legacies to friends , charities , and various artistic and literary objects . The remainder of the estate passes to the testator ' s son .

The Carl Rosa Grand Opera Company has just concluded at Liverpool the longest and most successful engagement it has ever had there . That engagement has lasted for seven weeks , and next year—said Mr . H . Bruce , in his genial address on the last night of the " run " —the company may even stay longer . At Drury Lane , where the troupe opens on April 5 , it will be seen for four weeks certain , and for even longer , if the public support justifies the extension of the season .

_ The latest instalment of Mr . Jefferson's autobiography ( in the Century for March ) is the most interesting that has yet appeared . It includes some pleasant reminiscences of Laura Keene , of the original production of " Our American Cousin , " and the first American representations of " Dot " and the " Octoroon . " The woodcuts in this instalment are especially good . In the same issue of the Century , Henrik Ibsen and his work are very intelligently discussed by a compatriot of the dramatist .

The will and codicil of Bro . Robert Farran , formerly of St . Paul's-churchyard , and late of 7 , Oak-hill-road , Surbiton , bookseller and publisher , who died on December 13 th last , vvere proved on the 14 th ult ., the value of the personal estate amounting to over £$ 0 , 000 . The testator bequeaths

£ 1000 and his furniture and household effects to his daughter ; £ 100 to each of his executors , Mr . Farran and Mr . Green j and £ 100 to each of his five brothers and sisters . The residue of his property he leaves to all his children in equal shares .

Our readers will regret to hear that Bro . H . H . Crawford ( City Solicitor ) , is seriously ill . Commencing with the influenza it subsequently developed into acute inflammation of the lungs . At one time he vvas delirious , his condition being most critical , Mr . Gordon Brown , who is in attendance , entertaining the greatest fears regarding his patient .

During the last few clays Bro . Crawford has somewhat improved , though he is still very seriously ill . Bro . Crawford has rooms at the Hotel Metropole where he is now lying . Under the most favourable circumstances , some weeks , it is feared , must elapse before Bro . Crawford is again able to make his appearance amongst his friends .

In connection with the approaching opening of the "Tivoli" in the Strand , of which Bro . It vvas evidently a case of mistaken identity , and the Editor has lost no time in making the amende honorable , as the following letter will show :

On Tuesday , May 6 th , the anniversary of the opening of the Paris Exhibition , 1 SS 9 , has been fixed for the presentation of the testimonial in recognition of Bro . Alderman Sir Pol y dore de Keyser ' s services in connection with the Britishsection of the exhibition . The testimonial will consist of an illuminated address and a silver centre-piece , and by permission of the Lord Mayor vvill be presented at the Mansion-House .

" Lord Mayor Isaacs , at his banquet to the Freemasons , set a good example—followed by many guests—inthe brevity of his welcome speech . He believes in the old saw— ' solid men of London drink no deep potations and make no long orations . A new club is announced , entitled the Albany Club , with ? premises at Kingston-on-Thames , having a river frontage of 420 feet , lt is founded on a similar basis to that of the leading social clubs in London , with similar conditions and qualifications for membership j and is a proprietary club .

The wives , daughters , and sisters of members are alsoeligible for election . With regard to the club premises , the beautiful old mansion of the late Sir C . Freake has beensecured , with the-charming grounds in vvhich it is situated .-It is intended to hold monthly dinners , garden parties , and other entertainments .

C , late of 155 , Cannon-street , lamp , lustre , china and glass manufacturer , who died on November 27 th last , at Buxton , wereproved , on the iSth ult ., by Mr . Thomas Arthur Greene and Mrs . Emily Matilda Truscott ( the daughter ) , the executors ,

the value of the personal estate amounting to over £ 20 , 000 . The remains of the late Bro . Thomas Mason , of Colne , were interred on the 24 th ult ., at the Colne Cemetery . The * cortege left Alkincoats at 11 o ' clock , and vvas headed by the workmen of Primete Mills walking four abreast , and proceeded to the parish church ( St . Bartholomew ) , where it

vvas met by the Rev . VV . Clifford , vicar , who conducted the service , and the choir . The service vvas fully choraL Among those who attended the funeral were a deputationfrom the Royal Lancashire Lodge , and a deputation fromthe Colne Local Board .

We understand it is in contemplation to invite the Pro--vincial Grand Lodge of Kent to hold its appoaching annual festival , in June next , at Chatham . The subject vvas considered at the meeting of the Royal Kent Lodge of Antiquity , No . 20 , last week , and it vvas ultimately decided

to leave the contemplated invitation in the hands of a com--mittee to consider and report thereon . It is 17 years sincethe Provincial Grand Lodge of Kent held its annual festivalat Chatham , in which town the Provincial Grand Lodge assembled in 1 S 73 .

MASONIC RE-UNION . —On the 20 th ult ., the fourthannual re-union in connection with St . John ' s Lodge , No .-6 73 , Bro . J . O . Mallabar , W . M ., took the form of a concert and dance in the Rodney Hall . The vocalists contributing to the enjoyable entertainment , with vvhich the proceedingscommenced , vvere Miss Fanny Bouffleur , Miss Hicks , Miss-Ida Clark , Miss Leighton , Mr . hen . Roberts , Mr . N . F .

Burt , Mr . C . H . Workman , and Master Arthur Dicks , a juvenile pianist , who played wonderfully well , although hislittle fingers do not enable him to strike an octave . Theaccompaniments were supplied by Bro . A . E . Workman ,-with his usual skill and taste . The concert over , the haltwas cleared for dancing , and though the concert vvas allowed by all present to have been an excellent and most

enjoyableone , yet much more enjoyment vvas derived by the majority ' of the brethren and their friends from the latter portion of the : re-union programme . The dance music vvas supplied by Hudson's string baud , Bro . A . E . Workman being a highly efficient Master of Ceremonies . The proceeds of the re--union are to be devoted to the West Lancashire Masonic Charities .
