M . on the 15 th January , 1 SS 5 , while , two years later he was appointed Prov . Assist . G . Secretary . He was exalted a Royal

Arch Mason in the chapter attached to his mother lodge , on the 16 th | anuary , 1 S 79 , and was installed M . E . Z . on the lylli April , 18 S 4 , having in the interim been appointed firstly , Assist . G . Director of Ceremonies , in iSSi , and in 18811 , G . Prin . Sojourner , in the Prov . G . Chapter of Staffordshire . He is a Templar Mason , holding office in the Godefroi de Bouillon Preceplory , Stoke-upon-Trent , and is a Life Subscriber of the Girls' and Boys' Schools , and a Life Governor of the Male Fund of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution .

Dep .-Surgeon-General THEOBALD RINGER , a retired medical Officer of the Bengal army and the new Deputy Grand Sword Bearer of England , was initiated in Lodge Morning Star , No . 552 , Lucknow , on the 31 st January , 1 S 74 , and in 1 S 78 joined Lodge Light of the North , No . 130 S , Dalhousie , in the District of the Punjab , the year following being installed its VV . M , Having become a

joining member of the lodge of Honour , No . 379 , Bath , he was elected and installed its W . M . in 1 SS 7 . He joined the Lodge of Loyalty , No . 1 533 , Marlborough , in 18 S 2 , and in 1 SS 7—the year of the Queen ' s Jubilee—had thc brevet rank of Past Prov . J . G . W . of Wiltshire conferred upon him , while in the course of the same year he joined the Foundation Lodge , No . 82 , Cheltenham , of which , as well as of the Lodge of Loyalty in Bath , he is still a subscribing member . WILLIAM VINCENT has distinguished himself in all the different branches of Freemasonry , with which he has been associated during a career which commenced some 23 years ago . He was initiated in the Villiers Lodge , No . 1194 , Hampton Court , on the 2 nd May , 1 S 74 , and at the present time is Past Master and Treasurer . In 1 S 76 he assisted in founding the Eccleston Lodge ,

No . 1624 , and in 1 SS 0 had the honour of being installed its fourth VV . M . Two years ago he was the founder of Justicia Lodge , No . 25 C 3 , and has held the office of Secretary during the whole of its existence . He is a Past Prov . G . S . B , Middlesex , and has served on the Board of Benevolence since iSij 2 . In Royal Arch Masonry , to which he was exalted in the Stockwell Chapter , No . 1339 , on the 5 th March , 187 S , he has won still higher distinction . He served as M . E . Z . during

thc years 1 S 82 and iS 83 , and is the present Scribe E . of his mother chapter ; was founder and first M . E . Z . of the Eccleston Chapter , No . 1624 , in 1 SS 2 , and having joined the Wanderers Chapter , No . 1604 , was installed in the First Principal ' s chair in 1 S 84 , and is its present Scribe E . Last year he was appointed Past A . G . D . C . in Supreme Grand Chapter , being one of the 21 companions on whom brevet rank as Past Grand Officers was conferred in commemoration of the 21 st

year of service of H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , K . G ., as G . Z . He is also a Royal Arch ritualist , having been Preceptor of the Eccleston and Stockwell Chapters of Instruction . He was advanced to the Mark Degree in the Panmure Lodge , No . 139 , of which at the present time he is Past Master and 'Treasurer , and is Secretary of the Justicia Lodge , No . 4 S 6 , which he had a hand in founding . appointed a member of the Grand Master ' s Royal Ark Council ; a Past T . I . M . and Recorder of the Constantine Council , No . 2 , and Past G . D . C . of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters ; a P . M . of the Metropolitan ( T . I . ) , and Rose and Lily Councils , and A . G . D . C . of the Grand Council of the Allied Degrees ; and was perfected Rose Croix in the Adoniram Chapter , No . 101 , of that Degree and is one of its Past M . W . Sovereigns . It should be added that at different times

he has been made honorary member in as many as ,= 54 lodges , chapters , and councils in England , America , and India . As for our Charities he has shown a great interest in them all and has done his utmost to support them both as contributor and Steward . Bro . WILLIAM H . COWPEK , a very able and highly esteemed member of the Fraternity in the Province of North and East Yorkshire , was initiated in Restoration Lodge , No . in , Darlington , on the 14 th Jur . e , 1871 . The following year he joined the North York Lodge , No . 602 , Middlesborough , in the Province with which he has been ever since so prominently identified , and in the year 1 S 79 was elected and installed its W . Lodge , No . 1848 , Middlesborough , and is an honorary member of the Orde Powlett and Humbcr Installed Masters' Lodge , Nos . 230 , and 2499 , respectively , as well as a member of the Outer or Correspondence Circle of Lodge Quatuor Coronati , No . 2076 , to which he was elected in 1888 . He has been twice honoured with the Provincial " Prfiple " in North and East Yorkshire , viz .: in the first

M . of the Broxbourne Lodge , No . 2353 , formerly located at Broxbourne , but now at New Barnet . lie has been elected to serve on the Board of General Purposes for the last nine years and has sat on the Board of Benevolence likewise .
