E . H . Joynson , and J . G . Marsh , P . G . A . Eng . ( Hon . ) , all of the conclave . The visitors included Sir Knights Baron De Ferrieres , P . S . ; T . C . Walls , P . S . ; and H . J . Lardner , P . S . ; all of the Premier Conclave ; and Sir Knight Cobham , P . S . 147 . The banquet , which was served in the hall ^ attached to the building , having been thoroughly enjoyed ,
The M . P . S . gave the toast of " The Queen and Christian Masonry , " followed by that of "The Grand Sovereign of the Order , Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., the Baron de Ferrieres , M . E . G . V ., and the rest of the Grand Officers , Presentand Past . " Baron de Ferrieres , in responding , said that all those who belonged to the Order should receive and drink the
toast in a most hearty manner , and he was glad to see that the sir knights of the Saye and Sele Conclave had done so . It was a beautiful Degree , and if properly worked , as he saw it worked that day , it must ultimately become a great and flourishing one . In most cases it was worked by one companion only , and was too much in the hands of the elders of the Order , now he would like to see
younger men come to the front , and take charge of it ; he knew himself that he was not so young as he would like to be , and believed that younger men could by energy and zeal raise it to a good , safe , and higher standard than it at present held . Their revered Grand Sovereign , Sir Francis Burdett , worked hard and unceasingly , but at his age what could they expect ? They could not expect that he could
go about and visit the conclaves like a younger man could . It was the same with himself , and he felt sure that they need not look around long before they found some younger men to do the work hitherto entrusted to their elders ; if that was done he felt sure the Order would prosper even more in the future than it had in the past . The toast of " The M . P . S . " was proposed by Sir Knight
Penfold , I . P . S ., and duly responded to . "The Visitors" was acknowledged by Sir Knights Walls , Lardner , and Cobham , who gave great praise to Sir Knights Wood and Penfold for their excellent working of the respective ceremonies , and also to Sir Knight Bateman for the perfect equipment of the conclave . The other toasts were "The Past Sovereigns" and " The Officers , " and then the proceedings terminated .

SINGAPORE . — Zetland-in-the-East Lodge ( No . 508 ) . —There was a large gathering of members and visitors at the meeting of this lodge on the 13 th April at the Freemasons' Hall , Coleman-street . The W . M . presented the I . P . M ., Bro . E . A , Thompson , with a handsome P . M . 's jewel , which had been voted by the lodge , in recognition of his services . In a few well-chosen words ,
Bro . G . Thompson expressed the feeling which had dictated the presentation , and a hope that the recipient might long be spared to wear the jewel . Bro . E . A . Thompson acknowledged the gift in suitable terms . After the usual business of the lodge was transacted , the brethren retired to the banqueting room , where an excellent supper was provided .
Over 40 brethren sat down , and at the conclusion a few toasts were given , amongst them being " The Newly-made Brethren , " to which Bro . C Bean ably responded . Bro . E . A . Thompson was then congratulated by the sister lodges of the district , Bros . E . J . Khory and C . G . Garrard speaking on behalf of St . George Lodge , Bro . Daly on behalf of the Royal Prince of Wales Lodge , and
Bro . P . Moss on behalf of the Perak Jubilee Lodge . It must have been gratifying to Bro . E . A . Thompson to see so many friends around him on such an occasion , and also as being the best evidence of the success of his efforts for ensuring the popularity ot his mother lodge . The jewel was a solid gold P . M . 's jewel , and on the ribbon was the Earl of Zetland ' s coat of arms , his coronet ( set with a diamond and two emeralds ) , and crest .

Dunlop , D . G . M ., and Bro . J . T . Leask , D . D . G . M ., and a goodly number of members and visitors . After the usual besiness of the lodge , Bro . Khory presented the W . M . elect , Bro . T . de M . L . Braddell , and the ceremony of installation was impressively proceeded with by Bro . Presgrave , assisted by Bros . Knight , Khory , and Hooper , and Bro . R . G . The usual loyal toasts having been duly honoured , tho l . P . M . proposed "The Health of theR . W . D . G . M ., " who , in returning thanks , said looking back 21 years , before
the lodge was in existence , he felt proud and happy to see the progress Masonry had made . The D . G . M . then proposed "The Health of the W . M ., Bro . T . de M . L . Braddell . " In December , 1 S 6 S , nearly 21 years ago , he had sat with Bro . Braddell's father , a well known Mason , within Lodge Zetland . It was most encouraging to find now his son following in his steps as a staunch Mason , and being installed as a Master . He must
congratulate them on the beautiful and solemn way in which the installation ceremony had been carried out ; it reflected the greatest credit on those concerned and was an earnest of what he had no doubt would be a successful year . The W . M ., in reply , tendered his thanks for the goodwill and confidence placed in him by the brethren , assuring them that he felt the need and value of their confidence and the assistance of his officers in what he felt was a re * sponsible position .

The W . M . presented the I . P . M ., Bro .
