James ' s Cnurch , Clerkenwell , to commemorate the restoration of this , their parish church , 'The artist commissioned to execute the windows is Bro . Charles Evans , of 20 , Warwickstreet , Regent-street , W . 'The subjects are connected with Freemasonry , and the seal of the Grand Lodge , with that of the Crusaders , will be introduced

The annual Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham has baen arranged by the Provincial Grand Alaster , Bro . the Alarquess of Londonderry , to be held at Darlington , early in October . A special meeting" of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Cheshire will be held at Birkenhead this ( Saturday ) afternoon , the 1 st July , when Bro . the Right Hon . Lord de Tabley , R . VV . P . G . M .. will lay the foundation-stone of the VVirral Children ' s Infirmary .

Bro . Thomas Whitehead was installed Worshipful Alaster of the Alerchants' Lodge , No . 241 , on Tuesday last , at the Alasonic Hall , Hope-street , Liverpool ; and the banquet vvas served at the Prince of Wales Hotel , Southport . A report of the proceedings will appear in our next issue .

A . mong those injured in the accident which befel the express train from Newcastle to King ' s Cross , when it was within three or four miles of Peterborough , and travelling at the rate of some fifty miles an hour , was Bro . Dodds , M . P ., who vvas bruised on the left shoulder and cut about the face and hands . He was an occupant of a first-class compartment , and asleep at the time , and the carriage in

which he travelled being overturned , he had to be extricated through a broken window . Though severely shaken , Bro . Dodds vvas enabled to proceed on his way to London , which he readied shortly after midnight . We trust our respected brother will experience only a passing discomfort from his injuries , and congratulate him on having escaped so lightly , having regard to the terrible character of the accident .

The Parkes Museum , which was first instituted in 1 S 76 as a memorial to the late Dr . Edmund Parkes , and in order to promote the health of the community , for which Dr . Parkes so successfully devoted the best years of his life , was incorporated on VVednesday last . The museum has been temporarily located in University College , Gowerstreet , but negotiations are now being made for acquiring a

building in a more central position . Since its establishment six years ago the total expenses have not amounted to jCiooo , and , owing to this economical management , the first Council of the incorporated institution commence their work with a fund of £ 1030 , nnd a collection of apparatus and appliances valued at upwards of £ 1000 . The eig hth annual excursion to Hastings in aid of the Printing Machine Alanagers' Superannuation Fund is announced for this day ( Satarday ) . The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths have made a donation of £ 20 ( the second this year ) to the funds of the City Orthopredic Hospital , Hatton-garden .

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Hertfordshire will be held at the Town Hall , Hertford , on Thursday , the 13 th inst , at 2 . 30 p . m . The annual festival of the Chaucer Lodge of Instruction will be held at the Royal Kentish Hotel , Tunbridge Wells , on VVednesday , the 12 th inst .

At a Volunteer competition at Avonmouth , near Bristol , Corporal Lerway , of the local Engineer Volunteer Corps , made what is belived to be the highest score on record , namely 103 out of a possible 105 . He had seven shots at 200 , 500 , and Coo yards , scoring 35 points at the first , and 34 at each of the other two .

The athletic sports of the Honourable Artiliery Company take place to-day ( Saturday ) , at the Artillery Grounds , Finsbury . The Great Eastern Railway Company will today ( Saturday ) open a garden and general farm produce depot at the Bishopsgate goods station .

Bro . the Earl and Countess of Breadalbane had a dinner party on 'Tuesday evening last , at their house in Cavendish-square . The anniversary meeting of the Young Men ' s Friendly Society was held on Thursday , in the library of Lambeth Palace , the Archbishop of Canterbury . presiding . The new offices of the Daily Telegraph , were on Wednesday night opened in the presence of a number of distinguished persons , and among the company were their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Albany , the Prince of Leiningen , and Count Gleichen .

On Wednesday afternoon last the one hundred and twenty-eighth annual meeting of the Society of Arts took place at the rooms of the society , John-street , Adelphi , when Sir Frederick Bramwell , the chairman of the council , read his annual address . The chairman said that of all the subjects with which the public mind has been lately much exercised , perhaps none ( of a non-political character ) had

given rise to so much controversy as the Channel Tunnel ; and the importance of ready inter-communication of nations in its bearing upon art , manufactures and commerce will , the council believe , have amply justified their invitation to Sir Edward Watkin to open a discussion on the subject before the society . Electricity in all its forms , especially that of street lighting , had engaged the special attention of the society . The number of members of the society

still continued to increase . During the year 273 members had been removed from their list by death or resignation . In the same period 373 had been elected . There was , therefore , an increase of 100 . The total number of life and subscribing members and institutions in union which subscribe to the society from their own funds vvas 3429 . A vote of thanks to the chairman for his able address brought the proceedings to a close .

The Mansion House Fund for the relief of European refugees from Egypr , ^ which vvas opened last week with a subscription from Earl Granville , is in progress . Earl Granville , president of the Association for the Oral Instruction of the Deaf and Dumb , Fitzroy-square , presided yesterday afternoon at a numerously attended meeting of its friends and supporters , held , by permission of the Duke of Westminster , at Crosvenor House . His lordship said that the system had made great progress , and vvas now generally admitted to be the best mode of teaching the deaf , but he regretted that the institution was much in need of funds , which he hoped would be supplied .

On Wednesday last Wak-bun-a-Kee , the second chief of the Indian tribe , the Munceys , who is now in this country , appeared among the distinguished strangers in the House of Commons , He had on the war and hunting dress of his tribe—a headress of eagle's featherswith a

, tunic and mocassins of skins . Round his ankles hung the hoofs of deer , and in his belt he had the tomahawk of his ancestors . The Chief , in the course of the day , had an interview with Mr . Ashley at the Colonial Office , in reference to the restoration of the lands belonging to the tribe .

The Princessof Wales , as Patronessof the British Home for Incurables , Clapham-rise , accompanied by the Prince of Wales , will honour by her presence a garden party , to be held at the Institution on July the 19 th , to celebrate the " coming of age " of the charity . Owing to the limited space , a certain number of tickets will be issued at half a guinea each . A guard of honour of the 7 th Surrey

Rifle Volunteers will attend with their band . The Bands of the Grenadier Guards and a choir will perform during the afternoon . The Earl of Morley presided on Wednesday last a a meeting , held at the Westminster Palace Hotel , to promote a scheme for training schoolmasters for middleclass schools . The attendance was representative in its character , and resolutions were passed affirming the need of a training college for teachers ; that it should be under the inspection of the universities ; and that support should be sought from the universities and from public schoolmasters .

The Secretary to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys acknowledges a contribution of one hundred and fifty guineas froin a member of the Court of Common Council at the Anniversary Festival , presided over by the Right Hon . the Lord Alayor .
