Bro . C . R . Ellis , P . M ., next proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " and said that vvas a most pleasant task . He had said so many times all that he had felt and known to be absolutely true respecting their W . M ., and the rapid strides they had made during his year of office , and as it was the last time he would preside over them that year , he would ask the brethren to be upstanding and drink his
health , feeling as they did the true value of his worth . The VVorshipful Master , in reply , said he thanked them fur the kind way in which his health was proposed and received . The whole time he had been VV . M . he had always been well received . He vvas sorry for many reasons it vvas his last time in the chair as W . M ., but he would do his best to set the lodge on a firm basis . He had done his
best for the lodge , but had had to refer on past occasions to the difficulties of the lodge . They had now got over those difficulties . In conclusion , he thanked the brethren for the manner in vvhich they had assisted him in carrying the lodge to a successful issue , and said he would still do all he could for the lodge .
Ihe W . M . next proposed " I lie Health of the Visitors , " and said they had always seen visitors during his year of office . That evening they had with them Bros . Scott , P . The lodge having been opened , the minutes of the last regular meeting , as well as those of the audit meeting , were read and confirmed . Apologies for non-attendance vvere read from the following honorary members of the lodge , Bros . Colonel Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., Prov . G . M . ; Raymond Thrupp , D . P . G . M . ; Howard H . Room , Prov . G . Secretary ; Lee , Prov . Asst . Grand Secretary ; and J . M .
McLeod , Sec . R . M . I . B . After Bros . James and Harvie had been passed to the F . C . Degree and other formal business had been done the W . M . vacated the chair in favour of Bro . James Laurence , P . M ., P . P . G . D . C , who in a most impressive manner installed Bro . James Clark Goslin , vvhom he had previously introduced into the lodge and initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry . The addresses vvere
delivered in a most effective manner , and thanks to the able assistance rendered by Bro . J . J . Marsh , P . M ., D . C , the whole ceremony vvas worked in such a way as to make a most marked impression upon both members and visitors . ^ Bro J . C . Goslin , VV . M ., made thefollowingappointment , in each case prefacing the investiture vvith a few suitable remarks as to the duties pertaining to the different offices : Bros .
S . Wheeler , S . VV . ; F . Dunstan , J . VV . ; S . Page , Treas . ; H . Davey , Sec . ; E . J . Whelan , S . D . ; A . Robertson , J . D . ; W . H . Davey , I . G . ; VV . Kite , D . C . ; D . M ., vvas next presented , in the name of the lodge , vvith a Past Master ' s jewel in recognition of his services as VV . M ., and vvith a Past
Master's collar vvith jewel attached , on behalf of several of the brethren more closely connected vvith him either as officers or as regular attendants at the lodge during his year of office . The incidental music during the work of the lodge was most ably performed by Bro . H . J . Dean . The lodge having been closed , a banquet followed , under the personal superintendence of Bro . Harris , the proprietor .
Its success was assured when it became known that the W . M . had secured the services of such well-known and popular singers as Bros . Gammon and Styles and Messrs . J . D . Fitzgerald and Walter Grace . The grace after meat vvas sung by Mr . Fitzgerald , who likewise gave a most perfect rendering of the National Anthem , while Mr . Walter Grace sang " God bless the
Prince of Wales" in an equally perfect manner . The Worshipful Master , in proposing the toast of "The P . G . M . and the P . G . Officers , Present and Past , " alluded to the absence of Bro . Colonel Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., and said that it vvas evident that the Lebanon Lodge and its work vvas appreciated by the Provincial Grand Lodge , for on more than one occasion the P . G . M . had
bestowed collars upon its members . He instanced Bro . E . A . Smith , P . M ., who , at the last Provincial Grand Lodge vvas appointed Provincial Grand Standard Bearer . Bro . Austin , P . M ., P . G . D . C , replied to the toast , and , in thanking the VV . M . fcr the reception and welcome accorded to him and his fellow Prov . Grand Officers , assured the brethren that it was a well-known fact that if ever Stewards
were wanted for the Chanties , or in fact , representatives for any Masonic function , the P . G . M . was always sure to lind a ready response and hearty support from the Lebanon Lodge . He had enjoyed his visit to the lodge , and had been struck vvith the masterly way in which each and every officer had performed his part of the day's work and ceremony . Bro . E . A . Smith , P . M ., P . G . Std . Br ., also
replied to the toast . In a very clever though short speech Bro . Wilson , I . P . M ., submitted the toast of "The Worshipful Master . He sketched the Masonic career of Bro . Goslin , paid high tribute to his abilities , his genial disposition , and his assiduity to his Masonic duties , and exhorted all thc younger brethren of the lodge to do as Bro . Goslin had done , for while in office
he had prepared himself to fill those of greater importance . The VVorshipful Master , during his reply , said he actually felt the kindly feeling shown him , and that no words of his could adequately convey his appreciation of all the kindness which he had experienced from one and all . The welfare of his lodge had always been near and dear to him , and he hoped during his year of office the Lebanon Lodge would
still continue to prosper , and that when he vacated the chair the brethren would be able to conscientiously say that he had done his best , and that he left the chair of the Lebanon Lodge as worthy his successor as he himself had found it , and that bis name would be a worthy addition to the honourable roll of Past Masters of the lodge . The Worshipful Master expressed his pleasure in
submitting the toast of "The I . P . M ., " and while cordially thanking Bro . VVilson for his services to the lodge , regretted that ill-health had caused him so much trouble . His had been a most memorable , though unfortunate , year of ofiice . The lodge had lost its LP . M . and its Secretary , yet in spite of all it had still flourished . Bro . VVilson deserved the highest praise for all that had been done .
Bro . Wilson , I . P . M ., thanked the brethren in suitable terms , and said in the deaths of Bros . Baker and Baldwin he had lost two of his best friends , and he could not help placing on record the very able assistance he had received from Bro . H . Davey , who , though a young Mason , had proved himself capable and worthy of the Secretaryship ot so large and important a lodge .
In replying to the toast of " The Installing Master , " Bro . Laurence took the opportunity of impressing upon the younger brethren the importance of qualifying themselves for each and every office in the lodge , and that this could only be done by constant attendance during lodge business , and by seizing every possible chance of taking part in any Masonic function .
Bros . Forge and Larner responded for " The Visitors " in pithy and witty speeches . Other toasts vvere suitably proposed and acknowledged . At intervals during the evening Messrs . Grace ane Fitzgerald gave a splendid selection of songs , vvhich evoked the highest appreciation , the former being in splendid form , and if possible surpassing himself .

the W . M . of the Hendon Lodge , Bro . George Elliott , after vvhich he resigned the chair to Bro . W . A . Scurrah , P . M . for the installation of the W . M . Bro . Scurrah then installed his nephew , Bro . Arthur Henry Scurrah , S . W . and W . M . elect , in the chair , performing his work most admirably . Bro . Harry Webb was invested as I . P . M ., and the following brethren vvere invested as officers of the lodsre
for the year : Bros . A . W . Wace , S . W . ; F . C Joseph J . W . j W . A . Scurrah , P . M ., Treas ., * C . I . Axford ! P . M ., Sec ; A . W . Gerrard , S . D . j H . W . Parker , J . D . VV . Scurrah of the charges , the newly-installed VV . M . initiated Mr . William Vansittart . A Past Master ' s jewel was presented
to the LP . M ., who vvas also presented by Bro . VV . A . Scurrah with a visiting brother ' s Past Master ' s collar and jewel . A motion by the outgoing Master , seconded by Bro . W . A . Scurrah , P . M . and Treasurer , vvas , after a short discussion , carried , to reduce the initiation fee from seven to five guineas , and the lodge was afterwards closed . A banquet followed , and the usual toasts vvere proposed and honoured .
Bro . James Terry , P . G . S . B ., responded to the toast vvhich included the Grand Officers , and on behalf of the Pro Grand Master said that the Earl of Lathom on the previous Thursday attended the Provincial Grand Lodge of Surrey and installed the new Provincial Grand Master , Bro . Gerard Noel Money . He need hardly say the ceremony vvas performed in such an extraordinarily careful manner
that anyone who wanted to do it well had only to copy it . The Grand Officers had in the past as in the present attempted to perform their duties properly , and he hoped the day vvas very far distant when the toast of the Grand Officers would be received vvith less courtesy and heartiness than it was at the present time . The toast of " The Prov . G . M ., Col . Sir Francis Burdett ,
Bart . ; the Dep . Prov . G . M ., Bro . Thrupp ; and the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , Present and Past , " proposed by the VVorshipful Master , led him to say that the brethren would give that toast a hearty welcome , because the brethren knew how well those officers discharged the duties they vvere called upon to perform , and that the work they attended to in the province vvas done for the benefit of
the Craft in general and the Province of Middlesex in particular . Bro . Room , Prov . G . Sec , in replying , said that though the Provincial Grand Master vvas now in Wiltshire , his heart vvas vvith the brethren of Middlesex . They all knew his kind and genial disposition , and that he was never so happy as when he vvas vvith them . The Deputy Prov . G . M .
showed the same interest in the province . Speaking generally on behalf of the Provincial Grand Officers , he was proud to be the mouthpiece of such a distinguished body . It vvas not necessary to speak much about them in that lodge where there vvere so many Provincial Grand Officers . They had in their W . M . a specimen of what a Mason should be , and he would , no doubt , reap his reward .
There vvere 40 lodges in the province , but only a few Grand offices to dispose of . They must not be in a hurry for office , but must do their duty . It gave him great p leasure to be present , for he had had many invitations , but there vvere so many lodges in the province meeting on Saturday that he vvas unable to attend all of them . He promised to come to this one , and he had had his reward . The late
Bro . Henry Levander , after whom the lodge was named , initiated him in Masonry some years ago . The name of the lodge reminded him of that brother , whose name would be ever green in Masonry , and more particularly in the Province of Middlesex . Bro . Harry Webb , I . P . M ., proposed "The W . M . " Several Past Masters had told him that the LP . M . vvas of
no use after he had passed the chair—he vvas no officer ; still it vvas a great pleasure to propose the health of the VV . M . The present VV . M . was initiated in that lodge , and had taken the various offices , and he was quite sure if he would only follow in the footsteps of one of the first Masters of the lodge the brethren would have no cause to comp lain , and he would bring in as many initiates as vvere broug ht in
during the first year of the lodge ' s existence . The Worshipful Master , in reply , said he vvas much obliged to Bro . Webb for the nice things he had said ot him . It gave him great pleasure to be W . M ., as he vvas initiated in that lodge , had gone through the offices , and had done his work to thc best of his ability . He could not allow the occasion to without thanking Bro Scurrah , uiiu ^ oiui ] ;?^ WILLIUUI niani ~ - ~

D . ; W . H . Davey , I . G . ; VV . Kite , D . C . ; D . Moss , P . Bick , and S . H . Flatten , Stwds . ; and J . Gilbert , P . G . Tyler , Tyler . Bro . VVilson , LP .
