M ., in a very feeling manner , referred to the recent death of the proprietor , Bro . Henry Kingston , 1349 , and spoke of the many kindnesses that the deceased brother had shosvn the lodge of instruction , and the great desire he had evinced to promote

its best interests , and pointed out to the brethren that by his death they had lost a valuable member and a dear friend . He said Bro . Kingston was a regular attendant , and alsvays did everything that he possibly could personally to make the members happy and comfortable , and , by his genial manner and kindness of heart , svas very highly respected ; he ( the W . M . ) therefore proposed , and Bro . Freyer , P . M .

S 79 , seconded , that a letter of condolence be sent to the family of the deceased brother , and , after a fesv well-chosen remarks from several brethren present , it was carried unanimously . The lodge vvas opened in the Second and Third Degrees , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . Prior candidate . The VV . M . performed the ceremony , and worked the traditional history in splendid style . The lodge was then resumed in the First Degree , and the ceremony of

initiation rehearsed , Bro . Mills candidate . After the ceremony , the W . M . gave the charge in a very impressive manner , much to the delight of the brethren present . Bro . Perkins , the W . M . for the evening , is also the Preceptor , and vvas only recently installed as VV . M . of the parent lodge , and it speaks well for the St . James' Lodge that they have such a capable Master .
