KINGSTON-ON-THAMES . Dobie Lodge ( No . 889 ) . —A well-attended meeting of this lodge was held at the Kingston Hotel on the 21 st ult ., under the rule of Bro . J oseph Bond , W . M ., who again had opportunities of showing his skill in the Craft , and of proving the trustworthiness of his officers when called upon to do their part . Bros . J . R . Abbott and
W . Salt were raised to the Sublime Degree of M . M ., and Mr . E . Mitchell was initiated into the mysteries upon an unanimous election . Bro . Thos . Welham , of the Strand Lodge , was elected a joining member , and late in the evening the names of two candidates were submitted . A pleasant social evening , with good music , closed the assembly of the brethren .

Heron , responding for " The Grand Lodge of England , " urged upon the brethren the necessity of belonging to the great Masonic Charities , and said that recently a Manx child had been returned at the head of the pell for admission to one of the Institutions . Resounding for "Th- ; Province , " the Prov . G . ' " ecretiry , B ^ o . Walter J . Brown , announced his own resignation and that of the Deputy Prov . G . M ., Bro . T . H . Nesbitt . He also stated that the Prov . Grand Master had appointed Bro .
John A . Brown to be his Deputy . "The Health of the I P . M ., Bro . Jas . Hodgson , " was enthusiastically received , Bro . Heron ( who presided in the unavoidable absence , through a professional engagement of the W . M ) , taying that tie ex'ellence of the working of the Peel Lodge , as regards the ceremonial parts of Freemasonry , was due to the care which Bro . Hodgson had exercised in organising the lodges of instruction . Bro . Hodgson , when responding , said that he was glad to know that the new Mister was well able to work alj the

He also stated that the Prov . Grand Master had appointed Bro .

Heron ( who presided in the unavoidable absence , through a professional engagement of the W .
