That redounded to the credit of Masonry and Masons should all be proud of belonging to a Society doing so much goud and enjoying so much respect . Bro . G . S . Elliot , P . M ., then oroposed "The W . M ., " arid said that Bro . White occupied the chair by the unanimous vote of the members . There was no necessity to refer to Bro . White's virtues , or to his Masonic services which went back 30 years . They
would , therefore , heartily drink his health and wish him every prosperity . Bro . Edward White , W . M ., in reply , said he was flattered by the kind reception given him . The lodge was always exceedingly good to its W . Ms ., and always treated them well . He was grateful to Bro . Elliot for his remarks , and he was glad to se ; that Past Master come into the lodge , for having to perform a ceremony he had not done for 15 years , he was naturally a little nervous , and anxious to render it in a manner such as the London County Council Lodge liked . The one great pleasure of Freemasonry was that they knew no distinction of party . They were Masons , and that was the only
name they laid credit to . They had no two parties . As he had said before , their lodge had an excellent mission , and had done excellent work amongst those engaged in public life and amongst those admirable officers who assisted them . There was a good feeling in that lodge , and in the Council particularly , amongst those who united together in the lodge . He was proud of being the W . Master , for he was following illustrious menmen who had made great names , and who reflected credit upon the lodge by the discharge of their duties . He felt , in accepting the post , he was undertaking a serious responsibility , because the usefulness of the lodge depended upon the skill and ability
with which he managed its concerns . He was anxious that during his year the lodge should lose none of its prestige . He regretted he had not had an opportunity for doing more work , but what little he had had he hoped he had done in a manner that would not disgrace or discredit the lodge . He thanked them for their expression of good feeling , and hoped these would continue during the rest of his year . " The Visitors " was acknowledged in eloquent terms by Bro . A . Ritchie , P . M . 173 . "The Past Masters" and "The lOfficers" were given before lhe Tyler ' s toast closed a very successful and happy meeting .

THE HON . AND REV . JOHN HARBORD . The Hon . and Rev . John Harbord , Rector of Southrepps , near Cromer , died suddenly last week at the age of 68 . A younger son of Edward , third Baron Suflield , and a brother of the present Peer , he was born in 1832 . He held the curacy of Gayton , the rectory of West Harling , and the chaplaincy of Morden College , Blackheath , before Vie removed to Southrepps . The living is of the annual value of / 400 with a house , the population being between 800 and 900 . Mr . Harbord , married in 1857 Caroline Penelope , daughter of Mr . Anthony Hamond , of Westacre , Norfolk .

M . of the lodge , took an opportunity of speaking of the services rendered to the lodge by Bro . Joseph Fox ,
I . P . M . He was one of the founders of lhe lodge in 1888 , and he had always taken a lively interest in its affairs , not only as R . W . M ., but in all his connections with the lodge . In name of the members , Bro . Kramrisch presented Bro . Fox with a Past Master's jewel and an apron and sash . The brethren had not forgotten Mrs . Fox , to her he presented a handsome gold
bracelet set with diamonds and turquoise . Bro . Fox suitably replied on behalf of his wife and himself , thanking Bro . Kramrisch for the kind references to himself , but in serving the lodge in any way he had only been doing his duty . Dancing was afterwards resumed .
