At the recent House Committee , the resignation of Bro . FRANK RICIIAKDSO . N , seconded by Bro . A . C . Si'Aul . i ., unaniniously passed— "His colleagues upon the House
Committee cannot receive the resignation of V . W . Bro . Thomas Fenn , P . P . B . G . P ., & c , ftc , and Patron of the Institution , without expressing their deep sense of the useful and valuable service he has rendered during the period of his association with them as one of the managing body . His ripe judgment and his
active intelligence have been at all times available when needed , and while they greatly regret that circumstances render it in his opinion necessary that his resignation should now be accepted , they sincerel y hope he may be long spared to take a continued interest in the Institution ho has served so well . Bros . Noblett R . Livett , W . M . ; W . H . Andrews , S . W . ; W . Scott , J . W ., Hon . Sec ; E . VV . Crouch , P . M ., Treas . ; A . Boulton , P . M ., Sec . ; G . Lavington , I . P . M . ; E . C . Crouch , P . M . ; C . H . White , P . M . ; Kildahl , J . D . ; Abbott , and Barclay were the
Committee who arranged the above ladies night , which was held at the Holborn Restaurant on Thursday , the 24 th ult . The whole of the proceedings passed oil with eclat . About So sat down to dinner , after which an excellent concert was given by the following artistes : Aliss Gertrude Drinkwater ( Royal Welsh Choir ) , Miss Emil y
Himing , Mr . Kirkley Campbell , Bro . Page Hannant , Mr . Geo . Schneider , and , at the piano , Bro . James Kift . The W . M ., in proposing the toast of "The Queen and the Craft , ' said : Ladies , Gentlemen , and Brethren , —I think I need not say much upon this subject ; she is a grand old Queen , and has done her part in the
government of this country for many years to the credit of herself and the satisfaction of her subjects . In fact , I think it is little known how often her voice has weig hed in the councils of nations on the part of peace . She is a good Queen , and I may say the mother of the Craft , and therefore as her loyal subjects I ask you to drink her health .
The W . M . then said : Of the Prince of Wales as a Mason I can hardly say enough , he has given such a fillip to the Craft since he has been connected with it . The number of lodges is constantly increasing , and the members have nearly trebled . I am glad to say that in addition to the Prince , we have a number of members of the Royal Family who have honoured us by
joining our ranks . I will therefore ask you to drink " The Health of the Prince and Princess of Wales , and the rest of the Royal Family . " The loyal toasts were enthusiasticall y received . . Bro . LAVINCTON , I . P . M ., said : Ladies , Gentlemen , and Brethren , —The W . M . has already stated how loyal the brethren of the Craft are to the Queen , I may tell
you how loyal also they are to the W . M . for the time being . We are taught to respect the chair from the date of our initiation into Masonry , and I am pleased to say that we never , or seldom , have cause to treat the brother in the chair but with the utmost esteem . Our present VV . M . of the St . Mark ' s Lodge is certainly deserving of our warmest support , and it affords me the
greatest amount of pleasure in proposing his health . In reply , the W . M . said : I am exceedingly obliged to you for the very cordial manner in which you have received the ' toast proposed by our I . P . M ., and lean only say 1 appreciate it very much . 1 have responded to this toast so frequently , that I am almost afraid to say anything for fear of repeating myself ; but perhaps
I may be permitted to say to those ladies and gentlemen who are visitors to-night , and in all probability unacquainted with the general principles of the Craft , that there is nothing like Freemasonry for teaching a man the duties he owes to his fellow creatures . 1 shall only add that I thank the ladies and gentlemen for the kind support they have given us to-night . The toast of " The Ladies " was entrusted to Bro .
WHITE , P . M ., who , in appropriate terms , heartil y welcomed the ladies who had honoured the St . Mark ' s Lodge with their presence . Bro . WAGSTAI-K ( in the absence of the " New Woman " ) responded for the ladies , and , for the time being , he adopted the role of a member of the gentler sex , and , on their behalf , made a capital and humorous
speech . Bro . ROIIINS , P . M .: We have enjoyed ourselves very much indeed to-nig ht , and our best thanks are due to the members of the Committee , who have done so much for our comfort and enjoyment . It is a matter of some responsibility to carry out so satisfactorily a meeting like this , especially when , as in the present case , a new
departure is made in having a dinner and concert , instead of a ball . I think the alteration is fully justified by the success which has attended the undertaking . In proposing "The Health of the Committee , " I will couple with it the name of Bro . W . Scott , the Hon . Sec , who has worked so indefatigably in carrying out every detail .
The toast was cordially received . Bro . W . SCOTT , J . W .: Ladies , Gentlemen , and Brethren , —I am sure 1 may say , on behalf of the Committee , that we are exceedingly gratified to see you here to-night . As Bro . Robins has observed , it is an experiment . It is the first time we have had a ladies '
dinner . We are always pleased to see our lad y friends , and when they turn up as they have done to-ni ght , it is to the Committee very gratifying . I thank you for the kind words in which you have alluded to the Com . mittee , who are more than pleased if they have succeeded in satisfy ing the guests .

ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS .
At the recent House Committee , the resignation of Bro . Thomas Feiin , on the ground of increasing years and consequent inability to attend at the School with sufficient regularity , was regretfully received , and the following resolution , proposed by Bro .
LADIES NIGHT OF ST . MARK'S LODGE , No . 857
Bros .
