M . of the Drury Lane Lodge , when he retired from the present

contest , as well as the members of the Craft generally , that Bro . Harris will be a candidate for that high office at the election which takes place in March , 1 S 90 . " Dear Sir and Brother , Allow me space to express my dissatisfaction with the proposition to let the premises known as " Bacon ' s Hotel" on a lease of 49 years , which appears to me to be practically parting with the freehold—at any rate , so far as three generations of Masons are concerned—the average life being under 20 years .

Surely a 21 years' lease would have been long enough with settled conditions for renewal—say at the expiration of . 16 years—and I sincerely hope some such modification of terms may be adopted . My only satisfaction with this

proposed arrangement is , that the premises will be engaged and occupied by members of the Craft , and I trust that the Committee of Management will see their way to arrange for a wilting room to be provided for London and country brethren subscribing to some Mark lodge , who may find a place where they can sit down and write a letter or confer with each other , a want long felt , but never responded to by Grand Lodge of England , although it has often been suggested . From my numerous engagements I have never taken an active part in the Mark Degree , but shall certainly join a lodge—along with many of my friends—if the suggestion I have thrown out is adopted and carried into effect . —Faithfully and fraternally yours , HENRY SMITH , P . S 3 " ] MINUTES OF THE "OLD DRUIDS ' , " REDRUTH , I am glad that my esteemed friend . Vivian , of Camborne ? has alluded to the curious entries in the Old " Druids '' Lodge , Redruth , because if they mean , what apparently they do , the conferring of Degrees in a Prov . G . L . in 1787 is an entirely new feature . I have carefully considered the matter , and fancy that the Secretary of that

period must have mixed up the meeting of the Prov . G . L . with that of the " Love and Honour , " Falmouth , held on the same day . My memory has been haunting me about a minute in the old " Mother Lodge " at Falmouth about the two extraordinary receptions , but it is so long since those Records were examined by me , and also those of the extinct lodge at Redruth , that I am not quite clear on the point . The veteran Treasurer of the lodge ; Bro . W . F ..

Newman , would gladly show the precious volumes from 1751 to Bro . Vivian , when lie is in the town , or search for him , as would also the W . M . or Secretary . The minutes y of both Bodies were , for years , kept in the same . bbokTW the Prov . G . Sec . and Secretary of the Iodge were one and the same brother .
