CONSECRATION OF THE IRIS LODGE , No . 2545 .

This new lod ge was consecrated on Monday last , at the Rainbow tavern , Fleet-street , E . G ., by Bro . Ernest Marriott , Alfred Kenningham , Harry Stubbs , and Robert de Lacy . The beautiful furniture m the lodge was presented b y Bro . Schulcr , the proprietor of the * ' Rainbow , " and the pedestals of the W . M . and his two Wardens were adorned with a beautiful enamel of the rainbow and the flower iris .

1 he GRAND SECRETARY said it was quite unnecessary on the present occasion to detain the brethren many minutes with any words of his own . They were all aware of the circumstances under which they were met together . It was a very interesting and , at the same time , a

very solemn purpose , to constitute and consecrate a new lodge and dedicate ' to the service of Almighty God . He could only express a hope that this new lodge , which would hereafter be known as the Iris Lodge , might be the means of promoting brotherly love , relief , and truth , and that it might advance in every possibly way the best interests of the Masonic Order .

Bro . the Rev . J . S . BROWNRIGG , P . G . C , delivered the oration , which he based on the rainbow , a symbol of promise , and also a symbol that man could do nothing of himself . When the ceremony was completed , Bro . LENNOX BROWNE , F . R . C . S ., U . G . D . C . was installed as W . M ., and Bro . Philip Hickson Waterlow ,

P -G . D ., was invested as Acting I . P . M . ; Bro . Geo . JtlWd Fowler , J . P ., was invested as S . W . ; and Bro . Paul Langbournc Waterlow , as J-W . ; Bro . William Holloway , M . D ., P . M ., was elected Treasurer and invested ; Bro . T . Emerson Armstrong was appointed and investt d Secretary ; J " * . William Chaplin , S . D . ; Edgar I . Waterlow , J . D . ; Frank Jamesrn , ' -M ., D . C ; Charles T . Holloway , I . G . ; S . W . Lambert , P . M .,

P . P . G . R . Surrey , and John D . Geddes , Stwds . ; and Henry Evenden , P . M ., Tyler . Votes of thanks were afterwards passed to the Consecrating Officers , and to Bro . Wilhelm Ganz , with honorary membership of the lodge , and a Founder ' s jewel was presented to Bro . Edward Letchworth . A vote of thanks was afterwards passed to Bro Schuler for his handsome gift of the furniture of the lodge .

Closing down then took place , and the brethren adjourned to a charming banquet , and subsequently honoured the usual toasts , the speeches being interspersed with some lovely singing by the artists who performed in the lodge , by the Misses Haidie and Blanche de Solla , and Bro . Charles T . Holloway , the possessor of a splendid bass voice .

All the speeches were brief , and this is to be the rule adopted in the lodge . The W . M . was exceptionally brief , and all the speakers adhered to his plan , and a most delightful evening was spent , the music being far above the average in quality and quantity .
