Earl of Mornington Lodge , No . 2000 . The regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Cafe" Royal , Regent-street , W ., on Friday , the 22 nd ult ., when there were present Bros . Hugh T . Taylor , W . M ., who presided ; A . Dawson Jones , S . W . ; J . Davidson , JAV . ; W . A . Bowser , P . M ., Sec .: F . M . Spencer Lewin , S . D . ; W . W . SzlurrJper , J . D . ; R . Lake , P . Pattrello , and T . Bowles , Tyler . Bro . F . Burrough , l . G . 1351 , was a visitor .

The lodge having been opened , and the minutes of the previous meeting read and confirmed , some routine business was transacted . Bro . W . A . Bowser , P . M ., Sec , then , pursuant to notice , called attention to the fact that the lodge ot instruction which was authorised by No . 2000 in December , 1 S 89 , had no official Preceptor , and he thought it was very desirable that one should be appointed . He ( Bro . Bowser ) had , it was true , informally acted for some time as Preceptor , but he was anxious not only to make the position an official and , therefore , a responsible one , but to enlist the services and

provide some congenial work for one of their members , who , although a junior in point of membership of No . 2000 , was an experienced Past Master of another lodge ; he referred to Bro . Charles Fox , P . M . 90 . Bro . Fox had a thorough knowledge of the ritual , according to Emulation working , and in this respect he resembled his own brother , the late Bro . Joseph Fox , a Past Master of this lodge , whose loss they still deplored , and whose perfect working was a matter of admiration to all the older members of the lodge . He therefore proposed that Bro . Charles Fox be appointed Preceptor of the

lodge of instruction . This was seconded by Bro . R . Lake , P . M ., D . C , and supported by Bro . R . S . Fairbank , P . M ., who said that he did so on the understanding that Bro . Bowser would not accept the position . Bro . | Bowser said he had carefully considered the matter , and , in the interests of the lodge , thought it would be desirable , and in every respect a good thing to do , to appoint Bro . Fox to a position for which he was in every way qualified . The proposal was unanimously agreed to . The W . M . then instructed

the brethren in some of the principles of Masonry by working the 4 th Section of the First Lecture , assisted by Bro . A . Dawson Jones , S . W ., and the sth Section of the same Lecture , assisted by Bro . J . Davidson , J . W . The work was admirably don :, and its performance afforded much gratification to the brethren . This is the third occasion within the last few months in which these three brethren have worked portions of the Three Lectures . The charity maul having been passed around , the lodge was closed . The brethren afterwards informally dined together , and a very pleasant evening was spent . __•
