Iiro . j . Reeves , P . M ., in his reply , said the W . M . had referred to the Royal Arthur Lodge as a ship . It had certainly been through rough gales when it was doubtful if she would right herself , but she had done so through the efforts of several members , and now seemed to be sailing under a fair wind . He could not , however , help looking back and asking himself in the words of the song they had
heard , "Where are the boys of the old Brigade ? " On the present occasion they must not forget them . He again thanked them for their kindness and hoped to meet them for many years . Bro . J . F . said it was a matter of very great pleasure to him to be present amongst the brethren with whom he had been 50 closely associated , and whose good fellowship and friendship he had so deeply appreciated . It was his privilege to be present when the W . M .., Bro . Porter , was initiated , and he had watched that brother work in the various offices . He was pleased to have the opportunity of saying that in
every office the W . M . had occupied he had discharged the duty in a most perfect manner and with the greatest fidelity and zeal . Bro . Millington , who acted as Installing Officer , then delivered the addresses to the
W . M ., officers , and brethren generally . As on past occasions , Bro . Millington delivered them with due impressiveness and precision , and worked the whole of the ceremony from beginning to end in a manner worthy of the occasion . Further business having been transacted , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet , which was served in a way that reflected great credit on the
worthy host , Bro . Innocent . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts having been given , that of "The Pro G . M ., the Dep . G . M ., and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was proposed , and received with Masonic fervour . Bro . Millington proposed the toast of " The W . M ., " and alluded in feeling terms to the absence of Bra . Pitt , I . P . M .,
whose place he filled on that occasion . He spoke of the merits of Bro . Saunders as a worker in the lodge , and his fitness to fill the high position to which he had attained , and his own assurance that he would fulfil all his duties in a way that would reflect credit on the lodge . Bro . Saunders briefly responded , thanking Bro . Millington and the brethren for their good opinion , and was resolved
that he would do nothing to lose it . He had the interests of Freemasonry and their own lodge too much at heart for him to let any opportunity pass which might be of benefit to both . He then proposed " The Health of the Installing Ollicer , " who had on that occasion , as on all past ones , done honour to the lodge for the manner in which he had worked the installation ceremony .
Bro . Millington briefly responded . To the toast of "The Past Masters , " Bros . Smith , Morrison , Parry , and others replied . The remaining toasts were proposed and received in a hearty manner . By permission of the W . M ,, Bro . C . McKenzie drew the attention of the brethren to a very deserving case , viz .,
that of J . heather , orphan son of the late James Feather , engineer . Votes were required for the May election of the Wanstcad Orphan Asylum . It was the fast chance , bul with some exertion and the kindness of friends he hoped they might secure the election of the child . 'The proceedings were closed by the Tyler ' s toast , after a
very agreeable evening . During the evening various brethren contributed to the harmony , among them being Bros . Greatorex , Parrett , Barcham , and others . In reference to the case of James Feather above alluded to , Bro . C . McKenzie will be glad to receive any votes at his address , 40 , Crescent-road , Upton Manor , Plaistow , E .

l'he usual loyal toasts were given and honoured in Masonic form , after which Bro . J . Cox , P . M ., proposed the toast of " The W . M ., " stating that having known him for over 25 years , he could assure the brethren they would find they had chosen a W . M . who would do credit to the lodge , as his heart was in thc work . The way in wliich the ceremony of initiation had been performed was simply perfect .
The Worshipful Master having suitably responded , proposed the toast of " The Initiate , " and Bro . King , in a few well-chosen words , acknowledged thc compliment . Bro . T . Lyne Bristowe , ALP ., P . M ., in responding for "The Visitors , " said although hc was a Mason of many years' standing , he had not becn in thc habit of mixing with the Craft , having devoted himself to his own lodge , the
United Lodge of Pru Jence , which was connected with the Stock Exchange . This lodge , through the care of its members , was in the happy position of having a Benevolent Fund amounting to , { . ' 23 , 000 . He merely mentioned this fact as an incentive to others to raise the amount standing to the credit of the Benevolent Fund , so that should any brother need assistance the lodge would be able to grant it .
As an extraordinary instance of compound interest , he referred to his lodge , which very many years ago deposited ^ 5000 at interest to form the Benevolent Fund , and this fund had so grown that notwithstanding £ 7000 had been given away £ 23 , 000 still remained . From small beginnings came great ends , and he hoped that other lodges wouU put by ot their plenty when they were young , so that in later
years they might be of benefit to those -, vho required aid . He concluded by hoping tliat the Skelmersdale Lodge would flourish like the green bay tree . Bro . J . R . Kelly , M . P ., also responded . He thought the Lodge of Prudence must date back to ancient days , and that in some way or other it had managed to get hold of the widow ' s cruse of oil . How they could have spent £ 7000
out of £ 5000 , and still have £ 23 , 000 left he could not quite understand . He confessed to being greatly surprised at the immense strides the Craft was making in the Colonies , and had been convinced since joining the Sphinx Lodge that Masonry was the grandest institution in the world . The remaining toasts were "The Installing Master , "
"The Charitable Institutions , " " The Past Alasters , " " The Treasurer and Secretary , " and "TheOfficers of the Lodge . " Bros . M'Call Chambers , S . Redfern , R . Rowlands , Hay , Humphrey , Cohen , and others contributed to the musical part of the programme , and the company separated after spending a most enjoyable evening .

Iiro .
Bro . J . F . Lewi- -, P . M . 20 , replying for "The Visitors , " thanked the members for the hospitality afforded them and expressed his appreciation of the work he had witnessed . Bro . J . O'Connell , P . P . G . Org . Surrey , also replied , and
said it was a matter of very great pleasure to him to be present amongst the brethren with whom he had been 50 closely associated , and whose good fellowship and friendship he had so deeply appreciated .
Bro . Porter would doubtless bring the same qualities to bear in his present position with as good results . He had worked with the W .
The remaining toasts were proposed and received in a hearty manner . very agreeable evening . During the evening various brethren contributed to the harmony , among them being Bros . Greatorex , Parrett , Barcham , and others . l'he usual loyal toasts were given and honoured in Masonic form , after which Bro . J .
