Craft Masonry.

The I . P . M ., Bro . L . L . Genese , stated that once more he held the gavel , and it was for the purpose of proposing a most important toast , that of "The Worshipful Master , Bro . Harry Townend . " ' That was the first occasion their genial W . M . had done any work in the ritual in the Barnato Lodge , and it had met with the approbation of them all , and they one and al ! wished him a very happy and prosperous year of office . _ .

Bro . Harry Townend , VV . M ., who was received with much enthusiasm , responded , thanking them most heartily for their kind reception of the toast , and said that so long as he occupied the chair , so long would he do his very best to carry out the duties of his oflice , and if he was well supported by his officers as he had been that night , he would be gratified , and it would make him a happy man . In giving "The Initiate , " the W . M . stated that it was beyond doubt the most important toast of the evening . From his outward appearance he seemed to be everything desirable to make a good and useful member of the Craft , and he ( the initiate ) had told him privatelthat he should not be satisfied until he went through the chair .

y The initiate , Bro . George Louisson , on rising to respond had quite an ovation . He thanked the members most sincerely for accepting him in their lodge , and hoped he would never do anything detrimental to the cause of Freemasonry , but would do his very utmost to uphold its great principles . In submitting the toast of " The Visitors , " the VV . M . stated that he was sorry to see such a small muster , which was quite exceptional in the lodge ; but they were none the less welcome , and he hoped to see them all again during his term of office , andjhe coupled with the toast the names of Bros . J . Lincoln Henson , P . M . 172 S ; A . II . Cooper ,

W . M . elect 2551 ; and R . T . West , 1744 . Bro . Henson , P . M ., responded . He said that his only regret was that the reply to the toast had not been placed in better hands . He was indebted to the W . M . for a very pleasant evening ; that was his first visit and he hoped it would not be his last . The W . M . ' s working of the ritual was grand and the lavish hospitality of the members was such that no visitor could wish to be better treated or entertained .

Bro . A . H . Cooper stated that the VV . M . held a unique position , being the VV . M . of two important lodges in London , as he was also the honoured and respected Master of the Clissold Lodge . It had been his good fortune to attend the Barnato—which was a shinirg light in Freemasonry—on several occasions , and the way they received and enteitair . ed their guests could not be excelled . Bro . R . T . West also acknowledged the toast .

The W . M . gave " The Past Masters and Treasurer and Secretary . " He said that the woik of the I . P . M ., Bro . L . S . Genese , during the time he was in the chair had never been better dene in the lodge and his year of office would ever be remembered by the members . The Secretary , Bro . E . J . Aeworth , P . M ., was one of the very best , and his great services to the lodge were much appreciated . In responding , Bro . Genese , I . P . M ., observed that during his happy year of office he had stated everything that could be said , and that he could not find anything fresh to mention , and he would content himself by remarking how glad he was to be followed by such an eminent W . M . as they had in Bro . Townend .

Bro . E . j . Aeworth , P . M ., Sec , also responded , and said it was gratifying to lind that the W . M . was so well known for his excellent working in the ritual , as he was one of the best they had ever had . He was a thorough man of business , and he had no doubt that the lodge would continue in prosperity under his reign . He ( Bro . Acwortil was only too glad to do anything for the lodge to promote its interests , as he hoped he had done in the past .

The W . M . proposed "The Officers of the Lodge , " and slid lhat however good a VV . M . might be , he was at a great disadvantage without good officers , and from his experience that evening he was satisfied that he had an excellent staff . Bro . II . Raphael , S . W ., responded , remarking that he and his colleagues would do everything they could to assist , and all hoped that the W . M . would have a very successful year of office . Bro . J . S . Goldstein , J . VV ., said that all the officers respected the W . M ., and it was a great honour to serve under him .

The toast . was also acknowledged by Bros . Willie Wright , P . M ., Org . ; II . F . Campbell , D . C . ; and E . Searle , I . G . ; and the Tyler ' s toast brought to a close a most enjoyable evening . An excellent entertainment was provided , in which the following took part : Miss Amdlie Molitor , Miss Allester , Mr . Douglas St . Albans , Mr . Dunn , and Bros . Henson , Lesser , and Henry . The musical arrangements were under the able direction of Bro . Willie Wright , who presided at the pianoforte . Special mention should be made of the two ladies , who both received well-deserved encores .

Hiram Lodge , No . 2416 . This lodge of architects and surveyors held a meeting at Freemasons' Hall , on the 23 rd ult ., Bro . Walter West , VV . M ., presided , and was assisted by Bros . S . The only business before the meeting was the passing ot Bro . VV . Albin Haskins . Bro . II . Lovegrove proposed a grant from the funds to be placed on the list of Bro . F . A . Powell , P . M ., a Steward for the centenary festival of the Bays' School .

Jo / e Luis Fernandes , of Wakefield , expired at his residence on Saturday , the 26 th ult ., aged £ 5 years and four days , and was buried at Sandal Church on the 29 th ult ., in the presence of his relatives and several members of the Unanimity Lodge , No . 154 , Wakefield , including Bros . P . C . Greaves , W . M . ; Walter

Furnell , P . M . ; Henry Smith , P . M . ; M . B . Hick , P . M . ; also Archdeacon Doune , 1019 ; T . B . Loxley , 495 ; and others . Bro . Fernandes was initiated in Unanimity Lodge , Xo . 179 ( now 154 ) on 3 rd December , 18 33 , and subscribcdtill his death , viz ., 63 years . lie was probably the oldest Freemason in West Yorkshire , and was greatly respected .

THE IIEI . I . S of St . George's Chapel , Windsor Castle , were rung on Saturday last , in celebration of the Duke of Cambrid ge's 79 th birthday . At Cannes the anniversary was also duly celebrated . H . R . H . the Prince of Wales gave a dinner in honour of the occasion . Among those present were the Grand Dukes Sergius and Michael of Russia ,

the Duke and Duchess of Cumberland , the Prince of Nassau , Princess Mary of Hanover , and the Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz . The Duke of Cambridge , accompanied by Rear-Admiral FitzGeorge , left Cannes , on Saturday , for Paris , on his return to landon .
