accept the same . The Installing Master had certainly performed the ceremony with great ability , and their hospitality was unbounded . He concluded by wishing the W . M . a very happy and successful year of office . Bro . G . R . Langley , P . P . G . D . Middx ., said personally it gave him the greatest possible pleasure to witness the installation of Bro . C . W . Stone . W . M ., by the I . P . M .,

assisted by Bro . C . H . Stone , P . M ., whose name was a by-word in South London . It was indeed a very high position for so young a Mason , and it required the greatest c ire and attention to carry out the duties efficiently , for to becom ; a W . M . so few years after his initiation brought with it great responsibilities . He gave the W . M . a most cordial and hearty greeting .

Bro . Thos . Grummant also stated that it gave him the greatest possible pleasure to witness the installation ceremony performed so ably upon one whom he saw initiated by his respected father , Bro . C . H . Stone , only five years ago . He was glad to see so good a set of young officers coming on in the Iodge , which brought to him personally a certain amount of sadness to think one was growing old . However , there was the bright side to see the hearty good feeling existing , and he trusted that would exist until they were old in carrying out the principles and tenets of Freemasonry . Bros . Ingram , S . W ., and H . Eyre , S . W . 101 , also ably replied .

The W . M . next presented the toast of "The Past Masters" in terms of high approbation . He felt proud of them—there were eight present , and he regretted the absence of Bro . Ellson , who had been very unwell lately . Bro . C . W . Peters , the . oldest P . M . present , he was delighted to see , and all welcomed him there . The remainder were all worthy brethren and had done suitable service to the lodge . The toast was most pertinently replied to by Bros . Peters , Noakes , Thomas , Gilson , G . Beste , and Stone .

Bro . Lipscomb also responded , remarking that whether in or out of office it gave him great pleasure to be present , and he most heirtily congratulated Bro . Peters , the late worthy Secretary , who had taken such an interest in the lodge . The toast of " The Treasurer and Secretary " was duly honoured and suitably replied to by Bro . Lipscomb , P . M ., Sec , who stated that Bro . J . Terry , P . M ., Treas ., was a most enthusiastic officer , and guarded the funds well ; and with respect to himself as Secretary , while honoured with that office he hoped to carry out the duties to their entire satisfaction .

The W . M . next gave the toast of "The Officers , " remarking upon their thorough capabilities , and said the lodge might be proud of so young a body . Bros . R . A . Brangwin , S . W . ; A . W . Brewer , J . W . ; T . R . Roberts , S . D . ; C . Fisher , J . D . ; and W . E . Dean , I . C , most cordially responded . The Tyler's toast closed a very happy and successful meeting . A capital programme of music was arranged , the artistes being Bros . F . Swinford , P . P . G . Org . Middx . ; G . Beste , P . M . ; C . H . Stone , P . M . ; H . Hall , and Mr . Stanley Ford . Bro . Frank Swinford and Mr . Stanley Ford were able accompanists .

Lodge Loyalty and Charity , No . 1584 . The last meeting of this Iodge for the season was held on Saturday at the Frascati Restaurant , and the chair was occupied by Bro . Watson Smyth , the I . P . M ., in the absence of Bro . Dr . Phillpotts , the VV . M ., who had gone to Guernsey for a few days ' rest and was unable to return , as the boats were not running owing to the severe gale . The business consisted in the raising of Bro . Behrend by the I . P . M ., and the initiation of Bros . Maistre , Dr . Bue :. and Beer , by Bro . Dr . Walford , P . M . The lecture on the tracing board in the Second Degree was also given by Bro . Cleaver , one of the junior members of the lodge . VVe were very pleased to see the growth of this lodge since its

removal from Kew Bridge , and also to witness the working of the officers and Past Masters . Bro . Drew Bear , Treas ., is a Steward for the Boys' School , and the lodge voted a donation to his list . The brethren spent a very enjoyable evening enlivened by the singing of Bro . Franklin Clive and Bro . Kift , who also played the pianoforte and the harmonium in the lodge room with his usual skill and good taste . A special feature of the evening was the presentation , b y Bro . Peeke Richards , P . M ., in the name of the lodge , of a very handsome gold watch to Bro . Dodd , P . G . S . Middx ., Sec . of the lodge from its formation in February , 1876 .

Bro . Richards , in presenting the gift , reminded the brethren of th : work Bro . Djdd had done for the lodge , and stated that the testimonial was the embodiment of the recognition by the members in a tangible form of their expression of thanks and esteem , and also stated how pleased he was to have the W . M . ' s permission to act as the mouthpiece of the brethren , as he was himself the father of the lodge , having been the first S . VV . Bro . Richards mentioned that the lodge was an offshoot of the Rose of Denmark Chapter .

Bro . Dr . Walford , who had asked the brethren for subscriptions , stated that ev ; ry member had contributed , even the honorary members , and in all casis they had sent kind letters with their contributions , entirely sympathising with the object . Bro . Dodd responded in a suitable manner for the handsome gift and for the kindness of the brethren , who had kept the secret so well that he did not know about it until ' Bro . Richards began his speech .

Amongst the brethren present we noticed Bros . J . Astley Smith , S . W . ; Dr . M . Rees , J . W . ; T . Drew Bear , P . M ., Treas . ; Rupert Williams , S . D . ; J . P . Richards , D . C ; VV . Pearson , H . F . A . Hoskins , L . Williams , and A . Williams . Bro . Colonel Menzies , P . G . D ., was a visitor .

As a curious coincidence , the first officers of the lodge wire a civil enginesr , a doctor , and a barrister ; the three initiates on Saturday were of the same profession ; respectively .

Cordwainer Ward Lodge , No . 2241 . The election meeting of this lodge was held at Cannon-street Hotel on the 16 th ult . The VV . M ., Bro . Alderman W . V . Morgan , G . Treas ., presided , and a number of the members attended , including Bros . J . J . A . Soper , S . W . ; W . Bauer , J . W . ; H . J . Adams , P . G . S . B ., Treas . ; H . Lovegrove , P . G . S . accept the same .
