WALTON-ON-NAZE . —Arnold Lodge ( No . 1799 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge was held on Tuesday , the 22 nd ult ., at the Portobello Hotel , when Bro . Geo . Canler , J . W ., was installed as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by Bro . Alfred Welch , P . M . 51 , P . P . J . G . W ., vvho was heartily thanked by the brethren for his services . The officers for the

NARBORO ' . —Granite Lodge ( No . 2028 ) . —The fifth annual festival of this new and flemishing lodge was held at the Narboro' Hotel , on Thursday , the 3 rd ult . During the year the vvork has been heavy , and the meetings , under the able Mastership of Bro . Geo . Jessop , well attended , and though held in a country village , the work has been fairly done . The whole furniture and belongings

of the lodge , which are of a first-rate character , have been paid for , and the Charities have not been neglected . On the completion of the necessary vvork , Bro . Jno . Metcalfe , P . M . and Sec , presented Bro . J . G . Simpkin to the outgoing Master for installation . This Bro . Jessop , P . G . A . i . of C Leicestershire and Rutland , assisted by the father of the Iodge , very ably carried out , the concluding

addresses being given by the very popular D . P . G . M ., Bro . Partridge and Bro . Miles J . Walker . TheW . M . then invested his officers as follows , giving in excellent style a charge to each : Bros . G . Jessop , I . P . M . ; T . VV . Everard , S . W . ; W . Key , J . W . ; Rev . W . Langley , M . Green , I . G . ; Winkes , Stwd . ; and J . Extor , Tyler . The Worshipful Master , in the most felicitous terms , conveyed the thanks of the brethren to the I . P . M . for his services for the past year , and at the same time , in their name , presented him with a beautiful P . M . ' s jewel . The banquet ( given in the parish schools , lent for the occasion by the rector and churchwardens , on account of the death of the hostess of the Narboro' Hotel during

the meeting of the lodge ) , was very well attended , the W . M . being supported by the D . P . G . M . of Leicestershire , and many Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , and all the P . M . ' s of the lodge , and about 40 brethren . The usual toasts , loyal and Masonic , were duly honoured . It is only fair to say that the excellent style of the W . M . ' s working , and the happy manner of his address and speeches , warrant the hope that he vvill be a worthy follower of the Masters who have presided over this young lodge before him .

The lodge vvas opened in the Second Degree , and the ceremony of passing rehearsed , Bro . Slyman candidate . The ceremony of installation was rehearsed , and the S . W ., Bro . Battley presented the lodge of instruction vvith a handsome tripod , and a cordial vote of thanks—to be entered on the minutes—was unanimously carried , which the worthy brother acknowledged in very suitable terms , at the same time expressing his gratification at the courtesy he had always received from the brethren . ISLINGTON LODGE ( No . 1471 ) . —A meeting was held on Tuesday , the 29 th ult ., at the Cock Tavern , Highbury , under the direction of Bro . Walter Hancock , Preceptor , the Treasurer ( Bro . J . Fetch , W . M . 1471 ) , Secretary , and other brethren being present . Bro . C . M . Coxon occupied the chair , and , after rehearsing the ceremony of initiation , opened the lodge in the Second Degree , and rehearsed the ceremony of passing . The lodge was closed in

the Second Degree , and Bro . Sheffield was elected W . M . for the next meeting , and appointed the officers in rotation . Nothing further offering , the lodge was closed . The last meeting , before closing for the summer season , will be held on Tuesday next , at half-past 7 o'clock punctually , when a good attendance of the brethren is expected . NARBORO ' . —Granite Lodge ( No . 2028 ) . —The fifth annual festival of this new and flemishing lodge was held at the Narboro' Hotel , on Thursday , the 3 rd ult . During the year the vvork has been heavy , and the meetings , under the able Mastership of Bro . Geo . Jessop , well attended , and though held in a country village , the work has been fairly done . The whole furniture and belongings

of the lodge , which are of a first-rate character , have been paid for , and the Charities have not been neglected . On the completion of the necessary vvork , Bro . Jno . Metcalfe , P . M . and Sec , presented Bro . J . G . Simpkin to the outgoing Master for installation . This Bro . Jessop , P . G . The banquet ( given in the parish schools , lent for the occasion by the rector and churchwardens , on account of the death of the hostess of the Narboro' Hotel during

the meeting of the lodge ) , was very well attended , the W . M . being supported by the D . P . G . M . of Leicestershire , and many Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , and all the P . M . ' s of the lodge , and about 40 brethren . The usual toasts , loyal and Masonic , were duly honoured . It is only fair to say that the excellent style of the W . M . ' s working , and the happy manner of his address and speeches , warrant the hope that he vvill be a worthy follower of the Masters who have presided over this young lodge before him .

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Apologies were received from Comps . P . R Nairne , P . Z ., O . C ; CT . Doray , P . Z . ; VV . M . Goss , P . Z . ; A . W . Thorpe , P . Z . ; R . P . Tebb , P . Z . , * W . R . Morton , P . Z . ; Dr . W . S . Wyman , P . Z . ; Dr . John Dixon , P . Z ; and J . E . Cockett , H ., regretting their

inability to attend . Comp . H . F , Paget , the J . elect , was again through his continued ill-health unable ( much to his regret ) to be present . The usual notice of motion was given by Comps . Frederick Walters , S . E ., and John Brockett Sorrell , P . Z ,, Treas ., "That a sufficient sum be voted from the chapter funds to Comp . Frederick Elder to purchase a P . Z . ' s jewel , to be presented to him for efficient

services rendered to the chapter . " A candidate for exaltation vvas mentioned for next meeting . An appeal for support of Comp . J . E . Cockett ' s , H ., list as the Steward representing this chapter at the ensuing Festival of Girls vvas made . Business ended , the chapter vvas closed .
