Consecration Of The Barnet Lodge, No. 2509.
gramme , more especially as among the founders of their Barnet Lodge were several members of the Gladsmuir Lodge , who would still retain their connection with it . With this toast he associated the names of Bro . G . Cox , VV . M . 3 , which had recommended the petition for the new lodge to the
favourable consideration of the M . W . G . M . ; Bro . F . C . Collingwood , W . M . 1385 , and Bro . Gunn , W . M . 2331 . These brethren having severally replied , and the toast of " The Treasurer , Secretary , and the other Officers" having been duly honoured , the Tyler ' s toast brought the proceedings to a close .
The banquet was supplied by Messrs . Spiers and Pond , and served under ( he personal direction of Bro . Mantell , who deserves the utmost credit for the excellence of his arrangements and the prompt and successful manner in which they were carried out . The music was in charge of Bro . J . Percy Fitzgerald , with Bro . Dr . Haskins presiding at the organ and pianoforte , and Bros . Daniel Price , George May , and Maldwyn Humphrys as vocalists . This also , both as regards the choral music in lodge and the songs with which the speeches were interspersed , gave every satisfaction .

PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF NORTH AND EAST YORKSHIRE .
A special Provincial Grand Lodge and General Communication of brethren of this province took place at the Masonic Hall , Duncombe-place , York , on the 16 th instant , on the invitation of the York Lodge , No . 236 . Excellent arrangements had been made by the brethren of the York Lodge for the reception of the large muster of Present and Past Provincial Grand Officers who assembled in response to the call of the Provincial Grand Master , the Marquis of Zetland .
The Provincial Grand Master was unable to attend , and the chair was occupied by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Bro . the Hon . Orde-Powlett .
The Prov . Grand Lodge was opened , and Bro . VV . H . COWPER , P . M . North York Lodge , Middlesborough , proposed , and Bro . J . TODD , P . M . 236 , Prov . G . Treas ., seconded , "That 50 guineas be voted to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and placed upon thelist of the R . W . Provincial Grand Master , who will act as a Steward at the Festival of the Institution on 27 th of June . " The proposition was carried unanimously .
The ACTING PROV . GRAND MASTER tendered the thanks of the Prov . Grand Lodge to the Worshipful Master and brethren of the York Lodge for their excellent arrangements . Prov . Grand Lodge was then closed and the proceedings terminated .
On the conclusion of the Provincial Grand Lodge the annual Provincial Grand Chapter and General Communication of Royal Arch Masons of the North and East Yorkshire was held in the same hall , on the inviiation of the Zetland Chapter , No . 236 . There was a large assembly of members of the - Order , presided over by the Prov . G . H ., the Hon . Orde-Powlett , in Ihe absence of the Provincial G . Z ., the Marquis of Zetland . Comp .

The sixteen chapters of the province were well represented , and after the transaction of the usual business the Prov . G . H ., the Hon . Orde-Powlett proposed : "That twenty-five guineas be voted to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and placed upon the list of M . E . Grand Superintendent , who will act as Steward at the Festival of the Institution on the 27 th Tune . "

Provincial Grand Lodge Of East Lancashire.
The minutes of the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge , held at Manchester on November 24 th last , were passed . Bro . Col . EATON , P . G . Treas ., submitted the accounts for the past year , the accuracy of which was confirmed by ihe Auditors . It was stated that there was an excess of income over expenditure of £ 2 ] $ ~ 's . id . The accounts , after some questions had been asked and answered , were passed unanimously .
For the office of Prov . Grand Treasurer , Bros . Thomas Stott and J . Frost were proposed , but on being put lo the vote Bro . Stott was elecled by an immense majority . Bro . J . CHADWICK , P . G . S ., then read his annual report , in the course of which he stated that the P . G . M . had been called upon during the year to consecrate and constitute two new lodges , viz ., I . ongsight , No . 2464 , and
the Duchess of York , No . 2482 , Manchester , bringing up the aggregate to 107 . Since the P . G . M . had been installed there had been an increase of 31 new lodges and more than 1000 members . The number of subscribing members at the last annual meeting was 4339 . This year they had a total of 4554 . Their new members numbered 464 . It was a matter of congratulation that the Derby Lodge , which had its warrant restored in August last , was working steadily and harmoniously . Great good had been effected by
the visits of Provincial Grand Officers to lodges . He sincerely congratulated the province on the fact that after years of difficulty and danger , there had been an arrangement made , an agreement signed , and a plan deposited showing the boundary line between the two provinces of East and West Lancashire . It was a matter of regret , however , that the distinguished Bro . J . H . P . Leresche , P . P . G . R ., who was instrumental in bringing about that amicable solution , had been taken from them by death . 'The energy and enthusiasm with which he threw himself into all that concerned the
welfare of the Order was the admiration of all who had the pleasure of knowing him . They also had to deplore the loss of Bro . the Rev . J . E . Roberts , P . P . G . Chap . ; Bro . J . Buckley , P . P . G . D . ; Bro . E . C . Gumming , P . P . G . S . B . ; Bro . W . Davies , P . P . G . Purst . ; Bro . E . Nathan , and other eminent brethren .
The P . G . M . then delivered an address founded mainly upon the report of the P . G . Secretary . He said he was very pleased to find Masonry flourishing so well in the province , and to see such a large gathering that day , there being only one lodge unrepresented . It was a matter of general satisfaction that the boundaries of East and West Lancashire had been
amicably settled , and he hoped there would be no fuither wrangling as to which province a lodge should belong . Colonel STARKIE also commented upon the working of lodges , and the maintenance of the principles of the Craft in every-day life .
On the motion of Bro . F . HILTON , P . G . D . C , the P . G . Secretary ' s report was ordered to be printed in the minutes of the meeting . Bro . J . H . SILLITOE presented the report of the proceedings of the Charity Committee and the Election Committee , and moved their adoption , which was agreed to .
The five brethren , donors or subscribers to the E . L . S . M . K . and B . Institution , who served last year , were re-elected members of the General Committee .
On the motion of Bro . J . ANDREW , P . S . G . D ., it was resolved to contribute ; fCioo from Prov . G . Lodge fund in aid of the East Lancashire Systematic Masonic Educational and Benevolent Institution , 50 guineas to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and . 50 guineas to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls . Thanks for these grants were tendered by the representatives of the several institutions named . The P . G . M , then appointed and invested the following Provincial Grand Officers :
