An excellent concert was given by Herr Hcino Hugo on Thursday , 23 rd ult . Mdme . Dukas Van Noorden sang "The Old Story" ( Bltimcnthal ) in most exquisite fashion . Her expression and power gave a freshness to the song , even to those who have heard it many , many times . Herr Heino Hugo , who makes his appearance among us for thc first lime , was at his best in

Mozart ' s " Non Pin Andrai . " He possesses great control over a powerful and highly cultivated voice , but he certainly lacks sweetness or melody . Of Mdme . Liebart , who sang " Silence in Tears and " Wcnn du in Traume , " it is needless to say anything beyond recording the fact that she has lost nothing either of her old sweetness and strength , and Herr Joseph Ludwig , as a violinist , is

too widely known and appreciated to require any comment on his rendering of " Ballad" and " Polonaise" ( Vieuxtemps ) , and " Ernst ' s " Elegie . " Mdlle . Carlotta Wilmers also appeared at this concert . She is a beautiful young lady , who will develope into a most sweet and powerful songstress , when she can throw off the nervousness , natural to her now , so young and professionally inexperienced .
