It is satisfactory to know that the Sub-Committee vvhich has been told off to revise the Rules and Regulations of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys has undertaken to consider the several propositions which Bro . W . H . Saunders placed on the agenda paper for

the Quarterly General Court on the 25 th ult . We have already , in the case of two of them , pointed out that , in our opinion , they are unnecessary , as the Rules already provide for doing what he proposes should be done . But his suggestions as to last cases and the

appointment of a Petitions Sub-Committee are well worthy of adoption . Thus , as regards the former , there were five last cases at the recent Girls' School election and ten at that of the Boys' School . In every one of these 15 cases it had been decided that the

child was a fit and proper person to be admitted to the benefits of the Institution to vvhich he or she was desirous of being admitted . One , however , out of the five girls was elected , while four out of the 10 boys

failed . Thus , eight children who had been declared elig ible are now turned adrift , because their friends had not influence enough to command the necessary amount of support .

The case of the boy Grossman seems a particularl y hard one . We know nothing whatever of the circumstances beyond what are disclosed in the approved list of candidates . But his name had been on this list for

three and a half years ; he was a candidate at no less than seven elections , and yet the total of the votes he obtained up to the close of the poll at the recent Quarterly Court was only 112 , of which 17 votes were brought forward from his six previous attempts .

* * * We must also express our sympathy vvith the boy B . Lamplough . Last week he made his third attempt to obtain admission into the School for vvhich tho

General Committee had declared him eligible ; but not a single vote was polled for htm , and all he could boast of in the way of support was the 10 votes he brought forward from his two previous trials . ! ' 1
