Caesarean Lodge , No . 74 . An interesting event in connection with the above ledge took place at the regular meeting on the 16 th ult ., viz ., the presentation of a testimonial to Bro . J . VV . Hamling , Sec . Bro . 1 . G . Hamilton , I . P . M ., occupied the chair , in the unavoidable absence of Bro . Bree , W . M ., he being out of the island . Amongst those present were Bros . Dr . T- 1 . Aubin , P . M . j T . Stone , P . M . j Major F . ] . Godfrey , P . M . ; J . H . Goldsmith , S . VV . ; J . C Barette , J . VV . ; II . Stevenson , M . O . j C . E . Malet de Carteret , S . Bro . Hamling having been brought forward by Bro . F . J . Godfrey , P . M ., Bro . Hamilton , in the name of the lodge , presented him with a testimonial in the form of a silver fruit service , of elegant workmanship , in a case in the form of a shield , bearing the following inscription : "Presented to Bro . J . VV . Hamling by the members of Cesarean Lodge , No . 74 , as a mark of esteem , in recognition of his services as Secretary for the last eight years . 1 ( 1 October , 180 , 5 . "

In making the presentation , in a few most appropriate words , Bro . Hamilton commented on the valuable services renderi-d to the | ndg » by tlu-ir esteemed brother , noticing among other things that during his tenure nf office more than 100 members had leen inscribed cn-the books of the lodge . Bro . Hamling replied by expressing his gratitude to the brethren lor their beautiful tiff , and staled that what he had done was from le , \ e lor his work , and not with the remotest idi-a of a reward . He had alwavs been well rewarded by the bearty co-operation of the members . Very rarely was an ofiicer absent from his post , that being particularly due to Bro . Major Godfrey , whose consistent con >

duct had set such an excellent example to cithers . For the information of the younger brethren , he recapitulated the history of the lodge for the last eight years , which had been the most eventful of its existence , among \ vhi : h were the year of office of Bro . Col . de , Carteret , Prov . G . M . of Jersey ; the presentation of a banner to commemorate that event ; and for the la *? t seven years the VV . M . had been installed by an officer of Grand Lodge , the last four by their much esteemed friend , Bro . Dr . B . Cockburn . The W . M . for the ensuing year , Bro . Goldsmith , was unanimously elecied ; also Bro . Major Godfrey as Treasurer . The acting W . M . then , on behalf of Bro : Bree , presented the lodge with a hew tracing board . * The lodge was then closed .

Hamilton , in the name of the lodge , presented him with a testimonial in the form of a silver fruit service , of elegant workmanship , in a case in the form of a shield , bearing the following inscription : "Presented to Bro . J . VV . Hamling by the members of Cesarean Lodge , No . 74 , as a mark of esteem , in recognition of his services as Secretary for the last eight years . 1 ( 1 October , 180 , 5 . "

In making the presentation , in a few most appropriate words , Bro . Hamilton commented on the valuable services renderi-d to the | ndg » by tlu-ir esteemed brother , noticing among other things that during his tenure nf office more than 100 members had leen inscribed cn-the books of the lodge . Bro . Hamling replied by expressing his gratitude to the brethren lor their beautiful tiff , and staled that what he had done was from le , \ e lor his work , and not with the remotest idi-a of a reward . He had alwavs been well rewarded by the bearty co-operation of the members . Very rarely was an ofiicer absent from his post , that being particularly due to Bro .
