GEORGE WELLS , who was initiated in the Panmure Lodge , No . 720 , in 1862 , joined the St . Paul ' s Lodge , No . 194 , and subsequently the Oak Lodge , No . 190 , of which he was Senior Warden at the time of his death , and was also exalted in the Royal Arch Chapter , United Pilgiims , No . 507 , to which he subscribed for nine years . He was a Subscribing Member of the Order over 20 years , and a Life Governor ot all the Masonic Charities , to whose funds he was a frequent contiibutor . He was in an extensive way of business as a Screw Pile Engineer and Contractor , but , in consequence of heavy losses on some large contracts , and a long continued illness , had to dispose of his business , leaving his widow without means .
