BRO . CORNELIUS COPE , W . M . 2192 . Bro . Cornelius Cope , W . M ., comes of a good Masonic stock , his father , the late Bro . Cornelius Horsey Cope , of Canonbury , having been a very old Mason , who was a member of the Temple Lodge , a founder of the Finsbury Lodge , and a Mark Mason . He has also two brothers in the Craft , one a foreign member of the Highbury Lodge , No . 2192 , and the other is a District Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Lodge of Northern China . Our brother ( the W . M . ) was initiated in the Highbury Lodge , in March , 1888 , being the third initiate , and has served

every office in the lodge ; he is also a member of the Henniker Mark Lodge , in which he is the M . O . ; he is a life subscriber to each of the three Institutions , and is going up as Steward for the forthcoming festival of the Institution for Girls , in

May . As a Mason , he possesses a sound knowledge ot his duties , and is reputed to be perfect in the ritual . We beg to tender our hearty congratulations to Bro . C . Cope on the high position he holds , and to the members of the Highbury Lodge upon their good fortune in securing the services of so eloquent , so conscientious , and so industrious a Worshipful Master .

BRO . JOHN ARMSTRONG , W . M . of the Lodge of Charity , No . 2651 . Bro . John Armstrong was born in Cumberland , within a very short distance

of the border , where his family have resided for many generations , in the year 18 49 . He was initiated in the Lodge of Lights , No . 148 , in 18 73 , and , seeing little prospect of promotion in his mother lodge , of which he is still a member , he joined the Gilbert Greenall Lodge , No . 1250 , about the end of the same year .

and became its W . M . in 1877 . Removing to Liverpool in 1880 , he joined the termor Hesketh Lodge , No . 1350 , and in 1893 was installed its . W . M . He took a leading part in founding the Minerva-Lodge , No . 2433—an offshoot of the 'Juatuor Coronati Lodge , and of which Bro . Armstrong has also long been a corresponding member—and became its first Treasurer and second W . M- ; and , as

will be seen elsewhere , he was installed on Monday , the 22 nd ult ., as first W . M . of No . 2651 . He is also a founder of the Liscard Lodge , No . 2657 , to be consecrated by Bro . Lord Egerton of Tatton on the 10 th instant , and will be invested as its D . C . He is a P . P . G . S . of W . of Cheshire , and a member of the Charity Council of that province . In Royal Arch Masonry Bro . Armstrong has had a specially distinguished career , and by his good working has done much to popularise this ' grand Degree in and around Liverpool and Birkenhead .

Exalted in the Sefton Chapter , No . 6 S 0 , by the late P . G . Scribe E . of West Lanes ., Comp . Alpass , in 18 74 , he soon after joined the Elias Ashmole Chapter , No . 148 , and served nearly every office in the chapter , and is at present its P . Haggai ; in 1880 he joined the De Tabley Chapter , No . 605 , and has served the office of Z . on two occasions , namely , in 1 S 84 and 1892 ; he was largely instrumental in resuscitating the Fermor Hesketh Chapter , No . 1350 , being elected its Z . He has also taken a leading part in founding the Richard Newhouse Chapter ,

No . 2433 , called after the popular P . G . Secretary of Cheshire , and to be consecrated on the 17 th inst . Many years ago , he was invested P . G . S . B . of Cheshire , and is at the present time P . G . H . of that province ; he is also a P . A . G . Soj of West Lancashire . He was advanced in the Cumberland Mark Lodge , No . 60 , in 1874 , and takes a great interest in the Degree . He is a P . M . of the Joppa Lodge , No . 11 j a P . P . G . D ., and P . S . G . Warden of Cheshire ; a P . C . N , in the Joppa Lodge Ark Mariners ; and a member of all the Allied Degrees , having taken the

Degree of High Priest so long ago as 18 75 . As a Christian Mason , he joined the Walton Conclave , No . 97 , or Knights of thf Red Cross , and in 1875 and in 1878 served the office of Eusebius ; is a Past Sovereign of the Cestrian Conclave , No . 154 ; he was this year nominated by the M . I . G . S ., the Earl of Euston , to the office of Vice-Grand Chancellor . An author of no mean repute , he is always welcomed as a lecturer on matters Masonic in the lodges of both Cheshire and West Lancashire .
