388 GRAND TOTAL ... ... ^ 15 , 031 6 6 Bro . RICHARD EVE , P . G . T ., Chairman of the Board of Management , proposed " The Health of the Chairman . " Lord HENRY CAVENDISH BENTINCK , in reply , said he approached that F < stival with still greater anxiety than Bro . Eve had expressed was felt by the Board of Management , because he knew perfectly well that the brethren

on those occasions were presided over by men of proved ability and Masons of long standing . He could not claim for hinnelf to b ; either the one or the other , and he must thank the brethren very much indeed for the kind consideration they had shown to him in the shortcomings he had manifested in the chair . That evening would be one of the pleasantest recollections of his life , and he could only once more express to the brethren his grateful

thanks . Also , he wished to express his gratitude to his brethren from Cumberland and Westmorland for the wav in which they had supported him that night . For a small province of 21 lodges the brethren would all agree that the sum of £ 1260 was very laud ible . They were a small province , but they were a very happy family in the north-west province , and if any brethren happened to be sojourning in the lake country this autumn in

that part of the world—he was sure he was speaking in the name of the brethren of his province—they would be happy to offer them the best welcome they possibly could . ( Applause . ) Bro . the Rev . C . V . CHII . DE , D . D ., G . Chap ., proposed " The Other Masonic Institutions and Success to Them . " Bro . F . R . W . HEDGES , P . G . S . B ., Sec . R . M . I . G ., responded .

Bro . Col . F . R . SEWELL , P . G . D ., D . P . G . M . Cumberland and Westmorland , responded to the toast of " The Stewards of the Day , " which was proposed by the CHAIRMAN . Bro . BLANCO WHITE replied for "The Ladies , " which toast was proposed by Bro . J GLASS . The company then separated .

Analysis Of Returns.

ANALYSIS OF RETURNS .

It is with very great pleasure we enter upon the task of analysing the Returns at Wednesday ' s meeting and no . ing any special circumstances which , in our opinion , call Ior some special comment . Of course , after having been accustomed to a series of exceptionall y large Returns , the present figures offer less scope for
