VVe have great pleasure in announcing that the proceeds arising from the fees charged for admission to the Masonic meeting held , to commemorate the Queen ' s Diamond Jubilee , in the Royal Albert Hall , South Kensington , on Monday , the 14 th June , amount to ^ . 7035 lis ., and that this sum is in course of beim /

handed over , without any deduction whatever , in accordance with thc arrangements proposed by H . R . H . the Prince ol Wales , die M . W . G . M ., nnd accepted by Grand Lodge . Thus the Piince of Wales ' s Hjspital F ' und is the richer for this meeting by £ 3312 15 s' . 63 ., which , with the £ 2000 voted by Grand Lodge , represents a Diamond Jubilee gift to this most deserving

Fund of upwards of £ 5500 . As regards the other half of the proceeds , it vvill be apportioned equally among our three Masonic Institutions , and , as in their case also , Grand Lodge voted each of them a errant of £ 2000

and each , in due course , will receive thc very handsome contribulion of £ 3170 18 s . 6 d . in respect of this same Diamond Jubilee * . The total sum presented by the Freemasons of England in commemoration of this event thus amounts to £ 15 , 023 us .

The Festival in aid of the Maik Benevolent Fund vvill be held at Freemasons' Tavern on Wednesday , thc 7 th instant . Bro . Lieut .-Ccl . A . B . Cook , Prov . G . Mark Master ol Middlesex , will occupy the chair , and we hear that the Board of Stewards , which Bro . C . F . Matier has had the good fortune to bring together ,

musters upwards of 230 ladies and brethren . This is a " record" Boar . I , and we trust we shall next week have the privilege of announciga "record" total of Donations and Subscriptions . It may be that , having regard to the number of appeals that have been made to everybody during the present Diamond Jubilee year ,

the excess or numbers may fail to accomplish this desirable consummation ; but under the auspices of so populara Chairman , supported , as no doubt he will be , by the leading Mark dignitaries , the Festival cannot fail to be a suc * c * ss , if not a success surpassing all previous years ,

The Fund , as our readers are aware , is well worthy of support . It does an infinite amount of good , one branch being set apart for the relief of worthy distressed Mark Masons ; , 1 second providing for the education and in part for clothing the children of

deceased or indigent Mark brethren ; and a third branch providing annuities for worthy old men who have seen better days and their widows . Eich of these branches of the Fund has a limited amount of invested capital , vvhich vve trust the Festival on Wednesday next will help to augment substantially .

# * ? There are several matters of interest vvhich the demands upon our space compel us to hold over , amongst them being a review of the History of the Hengist Lodge of Bournemouth . We trust , however ,

that now the more serious pvrt of the pressure which has weighed upon us during the last few weeks is at an end , vve shall be able to dispose ol the arrears th it have been accumulating , and that at no very distant date we shall be in a position tjk ? : p pace , as usual , vvith the calls upon our time .

* s # It is an exceedingly rare event in the history of Kentish Freemasonry for the Provincial Grand Lodge to hold its annual meeting in the absence of its Prov . Grand Master . But the event happened on the 23 rd ult ., when thc meeting took place at Plumstead under

the auspices of the Pattison L . odge , No . 91 * 3 , and Earl Amherst having been commanded to attend the Queen at Buckingham Palace on the day appointed was unable lo fulfil his original intention of presiding . Very general regret vvas felt at his lordship ' s inability to bc present , but his v / oithy Deputy—Bro . J . S .

Eastesfulfilled the duties of presiding officer with his accustomed geniality , and the meeting passed off , as all such meetings invariably do in Kent , vvith complete success . Honour was paitl to Lord Amherst during the after-dinner proceedings , while Bro . Eastes ' s

reception was , if possible , more cordial than usual , as he has not long recovered from a prolonged and serious illness , and his brethren were delighted to find that he was again able to be amongst them and give them the benefit of his wisdom and great experience .

Cathedral to the Dean ami Cnapter . Towards this ( he brethren have subscribed . I ' i : oo as their part in restoring this venerable edifice to something of its old magnificence . Wo trust there will be- a full attendance on the occasion , so that the sympathy vvhich exists between Religion and Freemasonry may stand out as prominently as possible .
