coulel not be ton highly praised . Personally he felt extremely gratified at being inducted as Most VVise Sovereign by so distinguished and able an exponent of the Rose Croix ritual . In conclusion , he said that svhilst they grieved to lose the services of so svorthy an officer as their svorthy and genial Bro . Paas had proved himself to be , yet they congratulated Bro . Lardner npon the distinction of being elected to fill the honourable and onerous position of Treasurer , and the duties of svhich oftbe he svas so competent to carry out .

prosperity in all time to come . He coulel never forget that he svas one of the founders of the Scots Lodge , and that he had had the honour of sitting in the chair , not disgracing , he "oped , the office . Bro . Thomas Grant , I . Joseph Whitehead had discharged his duties that evening for the lirst tune as Master , the brethien need have no fear that in this year he would complete his duties to the satisfaction of the brethren . He had invested his officers and performeel all his other duties that evening in a style svhich had justified the brethren selecting him
as they had . It svas particularly pleasing to him to see Bro . Whitehead in the chair , as Je had knosvn him from his infancy . " said : Worshipful Master , Past Masters , Officers and brethren , —I can assure you that this is one of the proudest anel happiest moments of my life in Freemasonry , svhen as a founder of this lodge and afterwards its seconel Master , I can assure you that I little thought that 1 should be spared by the Great Architect of the Universe to sec its first initiate , my eldest son Joseph , installed in the chair of King Solomon , and from svhat sve have seen of the manner in svhich he has filled the duties of the chair to-night I f «* el very proud and happy to think that the Scots Lodge in London has not lost any of its
prestige , but will go on prospering until time svith me ! -hall be no more . coulel not be ton highly praised . Personally he felt extremely gratified at being inducted as Most VVise Sovereign by so distinguished and able an exponent of the Rose Croix ritual . In conclusion , he said that svhilst they grieved to lose the services of so svorthy an officer as their svorthy and genial Bro . Paas had proved himself to be , yet they congratulated Bro . Lardner npon the distinction of being elected to fill the honourable and onerous position of Treasurer , and the duties of svhich oftbe he svas so competent to carry out .
