Whatever differences of opinion there might be among them , they ought to spread a large leavening 0 f o-ood , and the Craft ought to tend to a unity of feeling , whatever their political or other divisions might be . PROVINCIAL GRAND MARK LODGE OF HANTS AND THE ISLE OF WIGHT .

The annual meeting of this Prov . Grand Mark Lodge was held at Southampton , on Friday , the 26 th ult ., when there was an unusually large attendance of the brethren . Bro . the Right Hon . W . W . B . Beach , M . P ., Prov . G . M ., presided , and amongst the Grand Officers present were Bros . Le Feuvre , P . G . O . ; G . F . Lancaster , P . G . O . ; Rev . Norman Lee , P . G . Chap . ; Capt . G . Hearn , P . A . G . D . C . ; Cnpt . Giles , R . N ., P . G . S . B . ; L . Steele , P . A . G . I . G . ; and several P . G . Stewards .

The Prov . G . Lodge having been opened , and the minutes of the last meeting , held at Gosport , having been confirmed , and the routine business of the Prov . Grand Lodge being completed , the P . G . M . addressed the brethren . Alluding most feelingly to the great loss he had personally

sustained , tne province in particular and Mark Masonry in general , by the untimely death of the Deputy Prov . Grand Master , Bro . Richard Eve , a motion was subsequently put that it be recorded on the minutes of this Prov . Grand Lodge , the great loss they had sustained by Bro . Eve ' s death . This , needless to say , was carried , the brethren all rising .

Continuing , Bro . BEACH said that notwithstanding the trying times , this peculiarly naval and military province had gone through during the last year , they were numerically slightly stronger than what they were last year , and their funds were in a satisfactory state . Before investing the officers for the ensuing year , the P . G . M . said he did not purpose at that meeting appointing a Deputy Prov . Grand Master . The following were the Prov . A vote of congratulation was carried by acclamation to Bros , the Rev . Norman Lee , P . G . Chap ., and Capt . G . Hearn , P . A . G . D . of C , on their safe return from active service in South Africa , the former having served in the Orange Free State , and the latter in Ladysmith during the siege , where he was the Master of Mark Lodge in that town that met throughout the siege and advanced eight candidates . The Prov . G . Lodge was then closed , and some 40 odd brethren sat down to an excellent banquet , the Prov . , G . Master presiding .

The P . G . SECRETARY called the roll of lodges , and all those in the province were found to be represented . The P . G . Treasurer presented the Provincial Grand Lodge accounts , which showed a balance in hand of £ So 195 . nd . The statement of account was adopted on the motion of Bro . LAWSON HOWES . Bro . J . BURNETT seconded .

The P . G . TREASURER proposed " That the sum of 20 guineas be granted from the funds of the Provincial Grand Lodge to the South African Relief Fund . " The proposition was seconded by Bro . T . H . CHAFFIN , and carried unanimously .

The PROV . GRAND MASTER proposed " That a sum of 15 guineas be granted from the funds of the Provincial Grand Lodge to the Mark Benevolent Fund , and placed upon the list of the brother who undertakes the office of Prov . Steward at the 1901 Festival . " Bro . LAWSON seconded the proposition , which was carried by acclamation . Bro . R . C . Else , P . G . M ., invested the following Prov . G . Officers for the

The National Anthem was sung during the collection of alms , which were voted to a local institution . After business , the banquet was served in the Masonic Hall , the Prov . G . Master presiding , and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

The following is the business to be transacted on Wednesday next , the 7 th instant : The minutes of the last quarterly convocation to be read for confirmation . To read acknowledgment of address from Grand Chapter to H . R . H . the First Grand Principal , on the occasion of the death of H . R . H . the Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha .

THE REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF GENERAL PURPOSES . To the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England . The Committee of General Purposes beg to report that they have examined the accounts from the 20 th July to the iSth October , 1 9 00 , both inclusive which they find to be as follows : '

The P . G . SECRETARY called the roll of lodges , and all those in the province were found to be represented . The P . G . Treasurer presented the Provincial Grand Lodge accounts , which showed a balance in hand of £ So 195 . nd . The statement of account was adopted on the motion of Bro . LAWSON HOWES . Bro . J . BURNETT seconded .

The P . G . TREASURER proposed " That the sum of 20 guineas be granted from the funds of the Provincial Grand Lodge to the South African Relief Fund . " The proposition was seconded by Bro . T . H . CHAFFIN , and carried unanimously .

The PROV . GRAND MASTER proposed " That a sum of 15 guineas be granted from the funds of the Provincial Grand Lodge to the Mark Benevolent Fund , and placed upon the list of the brother who undertakes the office of Prov . The National Anthem was sung during the collection of alms , which were voted to a local institution . After business , the banquet was served in the Masonic Hall , the Prov . G . Master presiding , and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

The following is the business to be transacted on Wednesday next , the 7 th instant : The minutes of the last quarterly convocation to be read for confirmation . To read acknowledgment of address from Grand Chapter to H . R . H . the First Grand Principal , on the occasion of the death of H . R . H . the Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha .

THE REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF GENERAL PURPOSES . To the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England . The Committee of General Purposes beg to report that they have examined the accounts from the 20 th July to the iSth October , 1 9 00 , both inclusive which they find to be as follows : '
