" Richardson was elected to the chair for the ensuing Friday evening . 'The lodge was then closed . Another novel feature just introduced is the following : When the funds in the hands of the Treasurer amount to £ 5 5 s . a

ballot for a Life Subscribership 111 either of the three Alasonic Institutions is to be taken . Brethren who have attended the lodge eight meeting nights during the last three months are entitled lo participate in the ballot . This inducement , together with the excellent instruction to be derived here , will doubtless render the Doric Lodge of Instruction even better attended .

Aloss introduced a proposal to form a Alasonic Benevolent Association to enable each member to become a Lifc Governor of the Alasonic Charitable Institutions . President , Peircy , Vice-President ; Gieseki , 1 reas . ; and D Aloss , Hon . Sec . A Committee of the brethren was formed to decide upon tlie bve-laws , and to submit them to tbe brethren in print on Wednesday next , the 7 th inst . We wish the Asssociation every success , and as there is still room for a few more members , recommend brethren to send in their names to Bro . Aloss at once .

KING HAROLD LODGE ( No 1317 ) . —A meeting of this flourishing lodge was held on Saturday the 26 th ult ., at the Britannia Hotel , Waltham , Herts , under the presidency of Bro . Alartin , J . D . S 79 . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed . It being previously arranged to work the Fifteen Sections , Bro . Beavis kindly consented to

take the S . W . ' s chair , while the J . W . ' s chair was occupied by Bro . Reilly , P . AI . 1327 , P . P . G . P . Herts . Thc Sections ivere worked as follows : First lecture , Bros . Aloyes , Searle , Sillis , Reilly , Davies , Lewis and Sheppard . Second lecture , Bros . Sproat , Aloyes , Robinson , Beavis and Smith . Third lecture , Bro . Bradstock . Bros . Sillis , Smith and Emblin were afterwards elected as joining members . Votes of thanks were passed to the W . AI . and S . W . for

their assistance , and also to the brethren who had assisted in-working the sections . It vvas then proposed , seconded and carried unanimously that Bros . Alaitin and Beavis become honorary members , who , in expressing their thanks , congratulated the lodge upon its efficient vyorking and flourishing condition , and expressed their willingness to assist the lodge at any time their services might be required . Lodge was opened in the First Degree , and the minutes of the last meeting werc read and confirmed . The lodge was then opened up to the 'Third Degree , and resumed in the First , when Bro . Alarshall , acting as candidate for the Third Degree , answered the usual questions , and the lodge having been resumed in thc Second Degree , Bro . Alarshall

vvas duly passed to the Degree of F . C . The explanation of the second tracing board was given by the Preceptor . After the lodge had been called off and on , it was resumed in thc Third Degree , when the First and Second Sections of the Lecture werc worked by the Preceptor , assisted by the brethren . GATESHEAD - ON - TYNE . —Industry Lodge ( No . 4 S ) . —The annual meeting of this lodge was held on Friday , the 25 th ult ., when there was a good attendance . Bru . John Wood , P . AL , in succession to Bro . Whitfield , P . AI . was elected President , Bro . AL Corbitt was reelected 'Treas ., Bro . Whitfield vvas appointed Secretary , and Bro . Joshua Curry 'T yler for the ensuing year . It was

arranged that the work for the December meeting should be the First and Second Degrees . 'The annual supper was afterwards held , when Bro . I . G . Smith , W . M . 4 S , proposed " The Health of Bros . R . Whitfield , P . AL , and John Wood , P . AL , " for their services in connection with the lodge . Both brethren responded , and urged on the visitors and members to increase the numbers and to attend regularly on each instruction night .

After the confirmation of thc minutes of the previous convocation and reading ot the balance-sheet , which shows the chapter to be financially in a satisfactory state , the ceremony of installation vvas proceeded with by ALE .
