After " Hearty good wishes " had been given by many of the visitors , the lodge was closed according to ancient custom , and the brethren subsequently sat down to dinner in the large banqueting-room , under the presidency of Bro . NORTH WALSHAM . —Suffield Lodge ( No . 1 S 0 S ) . —This lodge held its usual monthly meeting on Wednesday , the 25 th ult ., at the Angel Hotel , under the gavel of its VV . M ., Bro . G . VV . proceeded to the ballot for Mr . R . Palmer , which proved unanimous , and the ceremony of initiation was impressively performed by the VV . M . Before the lodge was closed , Bro . C . W . Bacon rose and asked permission for a procedure , which , he trusted , might not be against the rules of the Order ; but as many of the brethren were anxious to get away , he was pleased to take

the present opportunity of asking their indulgence for what he was about to do . Addressing Bro . Woolbright , Bro . Bacon said : Four weeks ago , he had the very high honour of presenting him ( Brc . Woolbright ) , on behalf of the brethren of the lodge , with a Past Master's jewel , subscribed for by them in token of the high esteem in which he was held , and also as a slight acknowledgment of his exemplary

working , and the care he had bestowed during his year of office upon the affairs of the lodge . The brethren , he was happy to say , had determined to further mark the occasion by adding an illuminated address , bearing the names of all those who subscribed for the jewel . On their behalf he begged his kind acceptance of the same , at the same time assuring him that with it he had their sincere

wish that it might please the G . A . O . T . U . to spare his life for many years , and that he would continue to come amongst them and assist in the glorious work of their Institution . Before he sat down , he desired to tender his sincere thanks to their worthy Secretary , Bro . Barnes , and to Bro . D . G . F . Gaul , the S . W ., / or their kind and valuable assistance , without whose assistance it would have been

impossible to have brought this presentation to such a successful end . Bro . Woolbright , in a most effective speech , gratefully acknowledged the g ift , and thanked Bro . Bacon and the brethren for their kind remarks , and , addressing the W . M ., said he had also a very pleasing duty to perform , in presenting to his Bro . Past Master G . T . Plumbly , P . G . S . B .,

in the name of the brethren of the lodge , with a Past Master ' s jewel , wishing him many years of health and happiness to wear the same , and he trusted he might ever look upon it as a small tribute of the esteem in which he was held by every brother Mason in the province . Bro . Plumbly , in accepting the same , thanked the brethren , one and all , fur their kind thoughtfulnoss towards

him , and stated that he should always look upon it as the evidence of their good feeling and sincerity , and so long as his life was spared to him he would continue to promote in every way the prosperity of the lodge . Bro . Bacon jiromiscd to obtain an illuminated address , similar to the one presented to Bro . Woolbright . The lodge was then closed , and the remainder of the evening was spent in a most enjoyable manner .

Elliott was invested with the collar and badge cf his office as J . D . by the VV . M . Several brethren were balloted for and approved as joining members . Bros , de Pinna , C R . Paine and Heather , were then passed to the Second Decree by the W . M . ; after which , Messrs . VV . J . Coleman " and

W . O . Robinson , who had been previously balloted for and approved , were admitted in ancient form , and initiated by the W . M . in his usual efficient manner . Bro . Lightbody was proposed as a joining member . The brethren then proceeded to discuss the by-laws , which had been drafted by the Secretary , Bro . de Pinna , since the last meeting , and which were then approved . M . seconded , and it was unanimously resolved that a donation of £ 5 5 s . be made to the Royal Alfred Aged Merchant Seamen ' s Institution , Belvedere . The VV . DUKE OF EDINBURGH LODGE ( No . 1259 ) . —This lodge met as usual on the 27 th ult ., at the Bricklayers' Arms , Narrow-street , Limebouse . Bro . Waller , P . M ., was VV . the present opportunity of asking their indulgence for what he was about to do . Addressing Bro . Woolbright , Bro . Bacon said : Four weeks ago , he had the very high honour of presenting him ( Brc . Woolbright ) , on behalf of the brethren of the lodge , with a Past Master's jewel , subscribed for by them in token of the high esteem in which he was held , and also as a slight acknowledgment of his exemplary

working , and the care he had bestowed during his year of office upon the affairs of the lodge . The brethren , he was happy to say , had determined to further mark the occasion by adding an illuminated address , bearing the names of all those who subscribed for the jewel . On their behalf he begged his kind acceptance of the same , at the same time assuring him that with it he had their sincere

wish that it might please the G . A . O . T . U . to spare his life for many years , and that he would continue to come amongst them and assist in the glorious work of their Institution . Before he sat down , he desired to tender his sincere thanks to their worthy Secretary , Bro . Barnes , and to Bro . D . G . F . Gaul , the S . W ., / or their kind and valuable assistance , without whose assistance it would have been

impossible to have brought this presentation to such a successful end . Bro . Woolbright , in a most effective speech , gratefully acknowledged the g ift , and thanked Bro . Bacon and the brethren for their kind remarks , and , addressing the W . M ., said he had also a very pleasing duty to perform , in presenting to his Bro . Past Master G . T . Plumbly , P . G . S . B .,

in the name of the brethren of the lodge , with a Past Master ' s jewel , wishing him many years of health and happiness to wear the same , and he trusted he might ever look upon it as a small tribute of the esteem in which he was held by every brother Mason in the province . Bro . Plumbly , in accepting the same , thanked the brethren , one and all , fur their kind thoughtfulnoss towards

him , and stated that he should always look upon it as the evidence of their good feeling and sincerity , and so long as his life was spared to him he would continue to promote in every way the prosperity of the lodge .
