Marriage Of Miss Pickard.

MARRIAGE OF MISS PICKARD .

The wedding of Miss Winifred M . C . Pickard , daughter of the Grand Superintendent of Royal Arch Masonry in Oxfordshire , was solemnised in the Cathedral Church of Christ in Oxford on All Saints Day . The bridegroom was . Bro . Captain E . Duroure Pickard-Cambridge , of tbe ist Bedfordshire Regiment ,

who has medal with clasps for Burmah . The Prov . Grand Mastt r and his Deputy were unfortunately prevented by important engagements from being present , but four Grand Officers graced the ceremony by their attendance , viz .: Bro . Rev . C . J . Martyn ( who was also at Bro . Pickard ' s marriage ) , Bros . Rev , S . L . Wigram , Rev . R . W . N . Pope , and F . P . Morrell .

Three of Mrs . Pickard ' s bridesmaids also came to see her daughter married . The Rev . E . Pickard-Cambridge , M . A ., Rector of Warmwell , Dorset , and father of tht bridegroom , officiated , assisted by the Rev . W . W . Merry , D . D ., Rector of Lincoln College , Oxford , while the Rev . W . Wood , D . D ., Hon . Canon of Christ Church and Vicar of Cropsedy , gave a short address ,

and the Very Rev . the Dean of Christ Church pronounced a final blessing . Mr . Harwood , Organist of the Cathedral , played while the congregation assembled , and at half-past two the bride , leaning on her father's arm , entered the cathedral . The psalm was sung to Cobbin's C . by the Cathedral Choir as the wedding party , after the first

part of the service , moved in a stately and solemn procession up to the altar . Hymn 578 A . and M . was sung before the address , and Gounod ' s anthem , "Send forth thy Light" while the register was being signed , after which the procession left the church to the strains of Mendelssohn ' s " Wedding March . " Airs . Pickard afterwards held a reception ot the

Randolph Hotel , when the numerous and costly wedding presents were much admired . They were about 250 in number , and included a pearl and diamond brooch from Bro . the Earl of Jersey ; an antique piece of carving in mother of pearl set as a lid in a silver-gilt box from Miss AlcNeill ; a lobster salad bowl from Bro . the Rev . C . J . Martyn ; a

watchbracelet , set in diamonds , from Mr . and Airs . G . H . Morrell ; a despatch-box from the Master of Trinity Hall , Cambridge ; a silver beaker for flowers from Bro . and Mrs . F . P . Alorrell ; pearl and gold necklace from Sir W . W . and Lady Hunter ; silver tea set , in case , from Mr . and Airs . Lancaster Shaw ; carriage clock from Bro . Horatio Symonds ; pearl

and gold bracelet from the Rector of Lincoln College and Mrs . Merry ; pearl and gold brooch from Aliss Alerry and Air . W . Merry ; sugar basin and tongs from Bro . Major and Mrs . Adair ; silver pepper pots from Bro . F . M . Davies , W . AL of the Churchill Lodge , Oxford ; silver cream jug from Bro . Pennyman , of the Apollo University Lodge ; silver sardine servers from

the Rev . Sir John and Lady Hawkins ; pair of pearl and gold brooches from Air . Crawley Boevey ; pearl and gold bracelet from Aliss H . Pickard ; revolving toast rack from the Rev . Dr . Driver , Canon of Christ Church , and Airs . Driver ; diamond ring from Air . Benttt ; set of silver saltcellars , & c , from the Clergy

of St . Philip and James , Oxford ; various presents from the Clergy of St . Barnabas , Oxford ; a dinner and dessert service from the proceeds among the teachers of Elementary Schools in the Oxford District ; and many cheques and other presents from brother officers of the bridegroom and relatives and friends of the bride .

Presentations At Southampton.

PRESENTATIONS AT SOUTHAMPTON .

At the meeting of the Southampton Lodge , No . 354 , held at the Alasonic Hall , Albion-place , on Thursday evening , the 19 th ult ., Bro . H . C . Ashdown , the W . AL , presiding , two very interesting presentations were made to the lodge by members of it . The first , given by Bro . F . Dunsford , P . M ., is a

handsome casket intended for use as a Charity-box , made from a fine block of boe ; oak , given by Bro . H . Lashmore , and found some years ago below the bed of Southampton Water during the first of the dredging operations of the Harbour Board upon the Netley shoal . The wood is as black as ebony , and has been beautifully worked up by Mr . Boniface , who designed

the casket and executed the carving , which includes several Masonic emblems and the Southampton Shield . The box altogether is a handsome and interesting addition to the lodge furniture . The second gift , made by Bro . G . J . Tilling , P . AL , consisted of a parchment address , presented to the late Bro . J . R . Stebbing some 30 years ago by the brethren

of the Southampton lodges , and bearing the autographs of many well-known Masons who have gone to their rest , including Bros . VV . C . Huinphrys , VV . Hickman , George Dunlop , W . Furber , E . T . Howell , W . S . Oke , J . George , G . Lungley , C . Bromley , and one or two others . This address was found among some waste papers at Mr . Gilbert's book store , Above Bar , and was

given by Mr . Gilbert to Bro . Tilling for presentation to the lodge . Its fortunate recovery will rjnk with that of ihe interesting minute bcok belonging to the Royal Gloucester Chapter , which was found among a lot of odds and ends purchased at a sale b y Bro . J . E .

Le Ftuvrc . It was returned to the chapter , and found to contain the missing link in the chain of evidence necessary to prove the title of the chapter to the centenary wairant , which was afterwards obtained from Grand Chapter . The cordial thanks of the brethren of the Southampton Lodge were accorded to the donors of the gifts above-mentioned .

BRO . H . J . TIBBATTS , whose portrait we publish above , is the W . M . of the Bishopsgate Lodge , No . 2396 . He was initiated inthe Gladsmuir Lodge , No . 1385 , on February 20 th , 1891 He was founder of the Bishopsgate Lodge , and at its consecration he was made J . W ., and has since filled

the office of S . W . He is also a member of the Gladsmuir Chapter . Our brother , in a little over two years ( a short time for the Craft ) , has been unusually rapid in attaining his position as a good working W . M ., for which he is to be commended and congratulated . A report of the Bishopsgate Lodge will be found in another column .

BRO . C . J . TAYLOR , Whose installation as W . M . of the Strand Lodge No . 198 7 , is recorded in another column , was initiated in the Asaph Lodge , No . 1319 , in 18 7 8 , during the late Bro . Geo . Buckland ' s year as W . M ., having been proposed by Bro . Buckland and seconded by Bro .

Lionel Brough . He joined the Strand Lodge in 1886 , and served every office from Assistant Steward , and is now , by the unanimous wish of the lodge , its VV . M . Bro . Taylor has gained a thorough mastery of the ritual , and his unhesitating delivery and distinct utterance , qualities which we would commend to aspirants for the chair , render his working more than ordinarily

effective . Bro . Taylor is , we understand , a song writer and composer of some pretentions , and we can speak of one , "The Masons' Sign , " as being one of the best of his numerous Alasonic songs . At the Strand Lodge the meetings would be considered wanting in completeness without it . The Strand Lodge is quite safe in Bro . Taylor's hands . — •? - -

'The annual distribution of prizes and certificates to the pupils of the Guildhall School of Alusic took place in the Guildhall tn Saturday aftemoon last . A selection of vocal and instrumental music having been given by the pupils under the diiection ef Sir Joseph Barnby . the prizes were distributed by the Lady Mayoress , who was accompanied by the Loid Mayor , the Sheriffs ,. and several of the Aldermen .

We are glad to learn that an interesting series of lectures and . entertainments for the boys have been arranged for the winter months . Each Saturday and otheroccasional evenings will be utilised by the Assistant Masters in giving lectures on Art and Science and general information , some of which will be illustrated by the lantern , with a liberal supply of dissolving

. We are glad to notice amongst the series a lecture , to be illustrated by 200 views , entitled " England to America , and a Visit to the World ' s Fair at Chicago , " which is kindly given by Bro . Horace G . Banks , J . W .

This is fixed to commence at 6 . 30 p . m . on Friday , the 17 th inst ., and friends of the Institution desiring to witness what will prove a really first-class entertainment will do well to avail themselves of the invitation of the Board of Management . The annual general meeting was held at the Lion Hotel , Cambridge , on Friday , the 27 th ult ., Bro . A . H . Moyes , D . P . G . M ., in the chair . 'The Treasurer ' s accounts were produced , showing

balances in hand both on the subscription account and the management account . There are now about 130 subscribers from the six lodges in the province . The report for the year was produced and approved for presentation at the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting on the 20 th instant . It was of a very satisfactory

character . Bro . Colonel R . T . Caldwell , P . G . M ., was re-elected President ; Bro . A . H . Moyes , D . P . G . M ., Vice-President . Bros . Frank Piggott , 88 . ; J . Sheldrick , 44 i ; G , Whitmore , 441 ; ar . d T . E . Worlledge , 859 , were elected on the Committee for the ensuing year . Bro . Oliver

Papworth , 88 , was re-elected Hon . Sec . ; Bro . A . H , Aloyes , Hon . Treas . ; and Bros . J . Vail , 441 , and T , Watts , 441 , were elected Auditors . Other business of the usual character was transacted , and the proceedings closed with a hearty vote of thanks

to Bro . A . H . Moyes for presiding . In reply , the VICE-PRESIDENT said that although he had given up most of his Masonic offices , he should be very happy to continue to do what he could for the Masonic Charity Association .

We are glad to learn that an interesting series of lectures and . entertainments for the boys have been arranged for the winter months . Each Saturday and otheroccasional evenings will be utilised by the Assistant Masters in giving lectures on Art and Science and general information , some of which will be illustrated by the lantern , with a liberal supply of dissolving

. We are glad to notice amongst the series a lecture , to be illustrated by 200 views , entitled " England to America , and a Visit to the World ' s Fair at Chicago , " which is kindly given by Bro . Horace G . Banks , J . W .

This is fixed to commence at 6 . 30 p . m . on Friday , the 17 th inst ., and friends of the Institution desiring to witness what will prove a really first-class entertainment will do well to avail themselves of the invitation of the Board of Management . CAMBRIDGESHIRE PROVINCIAL MASONIC CHARITY ASSOCIATION .

The annual general meeting was held at the Lion Hotel , Cambridge , on Friday , the 27 th ult ., Bro . A . H . Moyes , D . P . G . M ., in the chair . 'The Treasurer ' s accounts were produced , showing

balances in hand both on the subscription account and the management account . There are now about 130 subscribers from the six lodges in the province . The report for the year was produced and approved for presentation at the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting on the 20 th instant . It was of a very satisfactory

character . Bro . Colonel R . T . Caldwell , P . G . M ., was re-elected President ; Bro . A . H . Moyes , D . P . G . M ., Vice-President . Bros . Frank Piggott , 88 . ; J . Sheldrick , 44 i ; G , Whitmore , 441 ; ar . d T . E . Worlledge , 859 , were elected on the Committee for the ensuing year . Bro . Oliver

Papworth , 88 , was re-elected Hon . Sec . ; Bro . A . H , Aloyes , Hon . Treas . ; and Bros . J . Vail , 441 , and T , Watts , 441 , were elected Auditors . Other business of the usual character was transacted , and the proceedings closed with a hearty vote of thanks

to Bro . A . H . Moyes for presiding . In reply , the VICE-PRESIDENT said that although he had given up most of his Masonic offices , he should be very happy to continue to do what he could for the Masonic Charity Association .
