The offertory which ^ amounted to £ Sog is to be devoted to decorating the interior of the Cathedral , lhe decoration being part of Sir Christopher Wren ' s design , although he could not obtain the money necessary for completing his work , which , however , cost £ 1 , 500 . 000 .

C Holland , the host , had done everything in his power to make thc room comfortable , and it will be a great pity if the East-end brethren should not support this new lodge , as it deserves to be . THE LATE COUNTESS OF LATHOM .
The mortal remains of the Countess ol Lathom , whose death occurred , with such appalling suddenness , on the 24 th ultimo , were interred in their last resting place in the chapel situate in the park which surrounds Lathom House , on Saturday last , and , though the weather was most depressing—being , in this respect , in keeping with the sad ceremony which took place—and a desire had been expressed that thc funeral should be as ipiiet and unpretentious as possible , there was alarge
gathering of ' spectators from the country round and from Liverpool to witness what was possible of the last tribute of respect that was paid to thc deceased lady , who was known for her kindness by all of them and loved by all . Thc funeral itself was of the simplest character . The coffin containing the remains was borne into the chapel upon the shoulders of retainers of the family , to whom
it had been one of her greatest pleasures to impart a knowledge of the contents of the Sacred Law , while among those who watched the proceedings wilh thedeepes sorrow were thc inmates of lhe almhouses adjoining the chapel , in whicli those who have spent their best days in the service of the family are spending their declining years .
The service itself was most impressive , among the mourners present being thc Lady Maud Wilbraham , Lady Florence Cecil , Lady Bertha Wilbraham , Bro . Lord and Lady Skelmersdale , Bro . the Hon . Reginald Wilbraham , the Hon . Rose Wilbraham , the Hon . Mrs . Bateman and Mr . Bateman , the Earl of

a strong personality and upright career , Bro . Tunnicliff had placed himself in one of thc most honoured positions in the minds of all who knew him . Largehearted , brave , honest , honourable , and generous , he was beloved far and wide , and the high esteem in which his townsmen held him was shown by their attendance at his funeral in unprecedented numbers . THE LATE COUNTESS OF LATHOM .
The mortal remains of the Countess ol Lathom , whose death occurred , with such appalling suddenness , on the 24 th ultimo , were interred in their last resting place in the chapel situate in the park which surrounds Lathom House , on Saturday last , and , though the weather was most depressing—being , in this respect , in keeping with the sad ceremony which took place—and a desire had been expressed that thc funeral should be as ipiiet and unpretentious as possible , there was alarge
gathering of ' spectators from the country round and from Liverpool to witness what was possible of the last tribute of respect that was paid to thc deceased lady , who was known for her kindness by all of them and loved by all . Thc funeral itself was of the simplest character . The coffin containing the remains was borne into the chapel upon the shoulders of retainers of the family , to whom
it had been one of her greatest pleasures to impart a knowledge of the contents of the Sacred Law , while among those who watched the proceedings wilh thedeepes sorrow were thc inmates of lhe almhouses adjoining the chapel , in whicli those who have spent their best days in the service of the family are spending their declining years .
The service itself was most impressive , among the mourners present being thc Lady Maud Wilbraham , Lady Florence Cecil , Lady Bertha Wilbraham , Bro . Lord and Lady Skelmersdale , Bro . the Hon . Reginald Wilbraham , the Hon . Rose Wilbraham , the Hon . Mrs . Bateman and Mr . Bateman , the Earl of

a strong personality and upright career , Bro . Tunnicliff had placed himself in one of thc most honoured positions in the minds of all who knew him . Largehearted , brave , honest , honourable , and generous , he was beloved far and wide , and the high esteem in which his townsmen held him was shown by their attendance at his funeral in unprecedented numbers . He had been an enthusiastic Volunteer
