A delightful programme of music was given during the evening under the direction of Bro . Arthur Briscoe , P . Carriages were ordered at 11 . 30 , but it was nearly 12 before a most enjoyable

Lodge having been opened , the ballot was taken for Mr . Alfred Lionel Briscoe , M . A ., Barrister-at-law , and was declared to be unanimous in his favour j he being present was regularly initiated . Bro . Charles T . Ramsey , being in attendance , was duly passed . After the usual lodge business had been transacted , the new banner , which had been presented to the lodge by the energetic Secretary , Bro . Thomas Price , was unveiled . It is a beautiful piece of work , bearing the arms of the lodge—a lighthouse , with the tide rolling in , surmounting the motto ( Lux Effii / jfens ) , and was much admired by all

present . In thanking the donor , Bro . J . Roby , S . W ., expressed the feelings of the members to him in an effective speech . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to supper , during which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed . The toast of the evening was "The Visitors , " and , in replying , the visitors expressed themselves as highly pleased with their visit , and suggested that the new departure of inviting a Iodge en bloc should be made an annual event . Hawkins and Bolton , of SGo , and it being unanimous , they were duly advanced to the Degreeof M . M . M . by the Secretary . Bro . R . Burleton , J . W ., sent an apology for non-attendance . The lodge was then closed . Refreshment followed labour . The W . M ., as usual , presided most happily , his speeches being models of diction .

Bro . H . I . Lardner responded on behalf of " The Grand Oflicers . In concluding his remarks , he congratulated the newly-advanced brethren on joining a lodge bearing so illustrious a name , and one in which so much good fellowship and harmony prevailed . He had been a very frequent visitor to No . 23 S , and always cherished a pleasing and lively recollection of the working of the lodge , and the thoroughly enjoyable proceedings of the hospitable board . " Thc Advancees " followed .

In response to this toast , Bros . Hawkins and Bolton expressed the pleasure it had j Horded them to be present that evening . They respectively passed an opinion that ihe Drgree was a most interesting one , and regretted that they had not joined it earlier in their Masonic career . Bro . Alfred Tisley responded in quiint terms on behilf of " The Past Masters . " The VV . M . gave " The Officers . " In the course of his remarks , he said that he personally was sorry that circumstances had prevented Bro . Dodson , S . VV ., from attending the installation meeting . However , at their next meeting the election of

Master would again take place , and he felt confident that the brethren would unanimously elect their respected Senior Warden to occupy the highest position the lodge could bestow . Hc had shown his interest in the lodge that evening by introducing two old friends into the Degree , and had performed his part of the ceremony well . Bro , Dodson was by no means a young Mason , and his name was highly respected in the Dalhousie Lodge and Chapter as a good worker . In conclusion , he trusted that in good time Bro . Dodson would shine equally as well in the Mark Degree . Bro . Burleton , J . W ., was another highly-respected member of the Dalhousie , and had evinced a warm interest in that happy little lodge .

The toast having been warmly received , Bro . Dodson replied in a humorous speech . During the evening thc W . M . and Bros . Dodson , Lardncr , and 'Tisley entertained the brethren . Bro . F . W . Driver , among other poems , delivered his excsllent lines on thc Mark Degree .
