The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes were read and confirmed . The W . M . vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Davies , Preceptor , vvho opened the lodge in the Second and Third Degrees . The lodge was resumed to the Second Degree . Bro . Austin , being a candidate for raising , answered the usual questions . The lodge resumed to the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed in a most impressive manner , as only can be expected , by Bro . J . Davies , as Preceptor of this lodge ; he also

delivered the charge in this Degree , vvhich was highly appreciated by the brethren . The lodge then closed to the Second and First Degrees , and the ist Section was worked . The VV . M . rose for the first time . Bro . Cotton was elected a joining member , proposed by Bro . Rogers , P . M ., and seconded by Bro . Austin . Bro . Hardy , S . W ., was elected W . M . for next week , prop sed by Bro . Sims , P . M ., seconded by Bro . Cross , J . W ., and carried unanimously . The W . M . rose for the third time , and the lodge was closed .

The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Lodge was opened in the Second and Third Degrees , and the ist and 2 nd Sections of the Lecture worked by the brethren , under the direction of the W . M . Lodge was resumed to the Second Degree , and Bro . Worth , offering himself as candidate for raising , vvas examined and entrusted . Lodge was resumed to the ' 1 hird Degree , and the ceremtmy

of raising was rehearsed in the W . M . s usual perfect manner , he afterwards giving the ancient charge in this Degree . Lodge was closed in the Third and Second Degrees . The brethren , under the direction of the VV . M ., worked the 1 st Section of this Lecture , and Bro . A . Williams worked the 2 nd Section . Bro . Lichtenfeld was then unanimously elected a member , and Bro . H . F . Williams unanimously elected W . M . for the next meeting . The Fifteen Sections vvill be worked in this lodge on the 12 th instant .

LOUGHBOROUGH LODGE . —The annual supper was held at the Gauden Hotel , Clapham-road Station ( L . C . & D . R . ) , on Monday , the 28 th ult . A very pleasant evening was spent in the lodge room , when 33 sat down to a capital repast provided by the host , Bro . Shannaw . Bro . Westley , S . W . 1 S 6 , presided , and there were present Bros . J . R . Johnson , Preceptor ; Andrews , Sec ; Everett , Hockey , Cornock , Verran , Bott , Folkard , Steele , Captain

Butterworth , VVright , C . A . Woods , j . Burn , Burnett , Tuck , Walker , Partridge , Dr . Walker , Esiir . g , Rowe , Gibbs , Conway , Luckhurst , Harvey , Beavan , Grover , Reed , Lissimore , Lafeuliard , Kerry , and Buddy . The usual toasts vvere given , interspersed vvith excellent songs from the members , and two splendid recitations from Bro . J . K . Boddy . The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a capital evening to a close . The next regular meeting of the lodge vvill be Monday , the 7 th instant .

BEDFORD CHAPTER ( No . 157 ) . — The quarterly convocation of this chapter was held on Thursday , 24 th instant , at Freemasons' Hall . There were present Comps . John Soper , M . E . Z . ; T . B . Linscott , H . ; W . Snodin , acting J . ; C . Pulman , S . E . ; D . Stroud , S . N . ; H . Roaeh , acting P . S ., & c ; W . Ansell , C . Soper , John Finch , James Terry , Moore , Turner ,

Stedman , Liddall , and others . The minutes ofthe last convocation having been read and confirmed , Bro . Henry Rutley , of 55 , was duly balloted for and exalted into the Supreme Degree of R . A . Freemasonry . The election of officers for the ensuing year then took place , when Comp . Linscott was elected to the chair of M . E . Z ., and Comps . J . Liddall and D . Stroud respectively

to those of H . and J . A jewel of the value of 8 guineas vvas voted to the M . E ., Comp . J . Soper , for ) his eminent services during his year of office . The convocation was then closed , when the companions adjourned to the Edinburgh Room and partook of a sumptuous banquet , the evening being enlivened by some rare displays of vocal and histrionic talent by many of the companions .

LILY OF RICHMOND CHAPTER ( No . S 20 ) . —At a meeting of this chapter , held at the Greyhound , Richmond , on Monday last , as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Comp . T . F . Giles , P . Z . and Treasurer , the companions all wore black crape rosettes on their collars and aprons . During the business of the meeting the Audit Committee presented the balance-sheet , shdwing the

receipts and expenses for the past year , leaving a substantial balance in hand . The companions duly thanked the executive for the very favourable and satisfactory report , and congratulated themselves on their prosperity . Comp . J . G . Twinn having accepted the office of Steward to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , the sum of five guineas was voted to bc added to his list . Before closing the chapter ,

Comp . W . H . Myers , M . E . Z ., in appropriate and feeling terms , alluded to the loss of their much respected and esteemed Comp . Giles , who had been a member and constant attendant ( having been absent only four times ) during a period of 25 years , and proposed that a letter of condolence and sympathy be written to the widow . Comp . C .

Hubbard , I . P . Z ., having seconded the proposition , it vvas carried unanimously , and Comp . J . Cockburn , P . Z . and S . E ., vvas directed to write accordingly . After the chapter closed , the companions dined together , and spent a very quiet evening , without the usual musical accompaniments .

FARRINGDON WITHOUT CHAPTER ( No . 1745 ) . —This civic chapter met at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleetstreet , on the 28 th ult . Among those present were Comps . H . J . Lardner , M . E . Z . ; J . WARRINGTON—Gilbert Greenall Chapter ( No . 1250 ) . —The sixth anniversary of this chapter was held in the Masonic Rooms , Sankey-street , on Tuesday , the 22 nd ult ., when a considerable number of the members weie present . The minutes of the last convocation having been read and confirmed , Comp . P . J . Edelsten , P . P . G . Std . Br ., P . Z . 148 and 1250 , then proceeded to install the

three Principals—viz ., Comps . W . Taylor , M . E . Z . ; W . H . ] . Jenkins , H . ; and W . Bolton , J . —in accordance with the usual rites and ceremonies of the Order , which was done in his usual efficient and impressive manner . The M . E . Z . then invested the following officers : Comps . A . G . Webster , S . E . ; R . Heaton , S . N . ; P . J . Edelsten , P . Z ., & c , Treas . ; J . S . Patten , P . S . ; and T . Domville , Janitor .

Owing to the absence of the I . P . Z ., Comp . Wallhead , through indisposition , the presentation to him of a handsome P . Z . ' s jewel had to be postponed to a future occasion . After the business of the chapter vvas concluded , the companions adjourned to a banquet , under the presidency of the M . E . Z ., Comp . Taylor . During the evening the usual loyal and Masonic toasts

The lodge resumed to the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed in a most impressive manner , as only can be expected , by Bro . J . Davies , as Preceptor of this lodge ; he also

Stedman , Liddall , and others . The minutes ofthe last convocation having been read and confirmed , Bro . Henry Rutley , of 55 , was duly balloted for and exalted into the Supreme Degree of R . A . Freemasonry . The election of officers for the ensuing year then took place , when Comp . Linscott was elected to the chair of M . E . Z ., and Comps . J . Liddall and D . Stroud respectively

to those of H . and J . A jewel of the value of 8 guineas vvas voted to the M . E ., Comp . J . Soper , for ) his eminent services during his year of office . The convocation was then closed , when the companions adjourned to the Edinburgh Room and partook of a sumptuous banquet , the evening being enlivened by some rare displays of vocal and histrionic talent by many of the companions .

LILY OF RICHMOND CHAPTER ( No . S 20 ) . —At a meeting of this chapter , held at the Greyhound , Richmond , on Monday last , as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Comp . T . F . Giles , P . Z . and Treasurer , the companions all wore black crape rosettes on their collars and aprons . During the business of the meeting the Audit Committee presented the balance-sheet , shdwing the

receipts and expenses for the past year , leaving a substantial balance in hand . The companions duly thanked the executive for the very favourable and satisfactory report , and congratulated themselves on their prosperity . Comp . J . G . Twinn having accepted the office of Steward to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , the sum of five guineas was voted to bc added to his list . Before closing the chapter ,

Comp . W . H . Myers , M . E . Z ., in appropriate and feeling terms , alluded to the loss of their much respected and esteemed Comp . Giles , who had been a member and constant attendant ( having been absent only four times ) during a period of 25 years , and proposed that a letter of condolence and sympathy be written to the widow . Hubbard , I . P . Z ., having seconded the proposition , it vvas carried unanimously , and Comp . J . Cockburn , P . Z . and S . E ., vvas directed to write accordingly . After the chapter closed , the companions dined together , and spent a very quiet evening , without the usual musical accompaniments .

Bolton , J . —in accordance with the usual rites and ceremonies of the Order , which was done in his usual efficient and impressive manner . The M . E .
