After the reception the company adjourned to the banqueting hall , which was prettily decorated , and all necessary arrangements were made for thc comfort of the guests , which were carried out most successfully by the W . M , and Past Masters of the lodge , every lad y being presented with a spray of
flowers . The banquet ended , the W . M . presented the toasts of " The Queen " and " H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , " which were received with due honours . Bro . J . HANDS , P . M ., next rose , and in excellent terms presented the toast of "The VV . M ., Bro . W . Richards , " who had endeared himself to every brother in
the lodge . From his initiation into the lodge he had taken the deepest interest in its welfare , and had carried out the various duties to which he had been appointed to their greatest satisfaction . That had led to his unanimous election as W . M . of the lodge , and all were delighted with the manner he had presided on such an eventful evening . All wished him health and strength to continue the good work during his year of oflice , which work would be to the entire satisfaction of the lodge and redound to his honour .
In reply , Bro . W . RICHARDS , W . M ., most cordially thanked the company for such a reception , and for the kind remarks of Bro . J . Hands , P . M . He felt it indeed a great honour to preside over such a company , and he hoped Ior many years the Southern Star Lodge would invite the ladies at least once in each year to grace the festive board by their presence .
The toast of the evening— •' The Ladies" —was proposed by the VV . M ., who , after dilating on their many virtues , gave them all a most cordial welcome , and hoped the lodge would be honoured by their presence on many a future occasion .

to the Steward ' s list for the Centenary Festival of the R . M . L for Boys . Already there are six Stewards of the lodge for that Festival , including the W . M . Bro . Abraham Levy , P . M ., P . D . G . T . Kimberley , the Master of the lodge in 1 S 51 , in commemoration of his 50 years' membership of the lodge , then presented for the acceptance of the lodge to the W . M . a beautiful ivory gavel . The W . M . then proposed , and the Secretary seconded , a vote of thanks for the handsome gift , and it was . resolved that such vote be engrossed on vellum , and presented to Bro . A . Levy .
Thc lodge was afterwards closed , and the brethren adjourned to a delightful banquet , which was followed b y the honouring of the usuil toasts . Miss Stella Maris , Miss Violet Carter , Bro . John Probert , and Mr . Stuart Debnam contributed singing in the intervals between the speeches ; Miss Freda Russell gave some exquisite perlormances on the violin ; and Mr . Arthur Helmore gave his capital story— " l'he Rev . Millikin Mi'dtnay Explains . " Bro . VV . R . Norris was at the piano . During the evening the Stewards' lists were made up to £ 120 .

Thc continued prosperity of the lodge was once again evinced by a satisfactory balancesheet ; by the completion of a long agenda of ceremonial work by the officers , including
the installation ceremony by Bro . II . Morris , and live initiations by Uro . A . Atkin , VV . M . ; by liberal hospitality and a good musical entertainment . The good Masonic feeling prevalent amongst the members was also a noticeable feature , and this in no small measure , in conjunction with thc efforts of the Treasurer an . ) Secretary—Bros .
