furnished by brethren between the addresses , and a very p leasant evening passed . Among the entertainers were Bros . C . G . Haly , J . P . Keys , A . Debnam , R . Brickvvood , A . Honey , C . George , and C . F . Hocking . Bro . Debnam sang some humorous melodies , which were warmly applauded ; Bro . Latimer acted as the accompanist on the

p iano during the evening . Bro . Elford gave solos on the cornet , including the "Lost Chord" and the "Better Land . " During the evening the following address , handsomely illuminated , framed , and glazed , was presented to the Secretary of the lodge : " This address , accompanied with

a Life Governorship in the Devon Masonic Educational Fund , and a signet ring , is presented to Worshipful Brother James Gifford , P . M ., by the officers and members of the Lodge of St . George , No . 2025 , as a tribute of respect and esteem , and of their appreciation for the self-denying and indefatigable manner in which he has discharged the

duties of Secretary for the lodge since its consecration in April , 1 SS 4 . The Lodge of St . George , intended as a temperance lodge , to make a new departure in the history of the Craft in the Province of Devon , has , both in its growth and influence , largely exceeded the expectations of its founders , and the success it has realised is in a great

measure attributable to the energy and courtesy of our worshipful brother as Secretary , who has attended each meeting during the formation and since the consecration of the lodge . M . rose for the second time , and it was unanimously resolved that a cordial vote of thanks be given to the Secretary and Preceptor for their services during the past session , and that the same be recorded on the minutes . Thc W . M . rose for the third time , and , nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed .

Woods , Dr . Makeham , Crook , and Patrick , Janitor . Comp . Tuck was installed in a very impressive and accurate manner into the chair of Third Principal by Comp . Grummant , P . Z ., who , if possible , excelled himself in the rendering of the beautiful ritual .

Other business having been concluded , the convocation was closed . After partaking of a splendid repast , the M . E . Z . proposed Ihe toast of "The Queen , coupled with R . A . Masonry . " He alluded in appropriate terms to her Majesty ' s journey to Berlin , and the sad cause of the same , pointing out the kindness of heart always shown by the Queen .
