A special Grand Lodge of Mark Masons was held in Mark Masons ' Hall , London , on Friday , the 27 th ult ., to consider and resolve upon Addresses of Congratulation on the providential escape of his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales , M . The Earlof EnsTONthen said he had thought fittocall the brethren together because he desired that Grand Lodge of Mark Masons of England should not

pass over in silence the dastardly attempt at Brussels on the life of the Moit Worshipful Grand Master , which , under the good providence of the Great Overseer of the Universe , came to nought , and he begged now to p'opose that a vote be sent to his Royal Highness , congratulating him and conveying the brethren ' s joy at his escape from the hands of the assassin . He begged now to propose— " That we , the

Pro Grand Master , Grand Officers , and Brethren of the Mark Degree in open Grand Lodge assembled , do record on our minutes the horror and indignation of all Mark Master Masons under Grand Lodge at the atrocious attempt on the life of our Most Worshipful Grand Master , his Royal Highness the Prince of VVales , K . G ., & c , and our sense of deep and lasting

gratituld to the Great Overseer of the Univers * for his Royal Highness ' s hippv escape under His Divine Providence . " That , he thought , was sufficiently expressive , and he felt quite sure his Royal Highness would appieciate it coming from Grand Lodge , and , in asking the brethren to pass it , he was quite confident they would do it unanimously .

Bro . FRANK RICHARDSON , acting Deputy G . M ., seconded , and said it was needless for him to add a single word to what the M . W . Pro G . M . had said . The Earl of EUSTON added that he did not think it necessary to apologise f jr calling the brethren together , as he knew they would be gratified at attending to pass this resolu . ion . But he knew people had

various calls on their time through business and other circumstances . The motion was carried unanimously , all the brethren standing . Bro . MATIER said he had received a large number of letters from brethren apologising for absence , but fully sympathising with the vote . Letters had come from provincial lodges and members of private lodges . Grand Lodge was then closed in ample form .

Pelham Lodge , No . 1303 . The annual installation and banquet in connection with the above lodge took place atL ; weson the 27 th ult . The new W . M . is Bro . H . Tuff , P . M . 1273 , and in the abs : ce cf the retiring VV . M ., Bro . Councillor Holman ( the Mayor ) , the ceremony of instillation was peiformed by Bro . Richard Weston , P . M . Bro . Holman being already the possessor of a Past Master ' s jewel , was voted a bar for the same , and in recognition of his services tn the Craft , the lodge also voted a sum of 10 guineas to his fund in aid of the Masonic School for Boys , in which he takes great interest .

At the banquet , which took place at the White Hart , covers were laid for over 50 . Bro . Tuff , W . M .. was , of course , in the chair , and was supported by the W . Masters of various lodges in the province , and by a number of other visitors , as well as a goodly muster of members of the Pelham Lodge . Ihe musical arrangements were on an unusually elaborate scale . An orchestral band p ' aynl during dinner , and the speeches were interspersed with songs by Miss Maii V' ^ gnnlini , Miss Maud Poole , and Bro . Patrick . Miss Ada Tunks Aram also pla .. FRANK RICHARDSON , it was resolved that having regard to the fact that the Grand Lodge of New Zealand has been formally recognised by the Grand Lodge of England as a sovereign body within the colony , the recognition of the Grand Chapter of New Zealand as a Sovereign Royal Arch body be granted , and that the Supreme Grand

Chapter of England undertake not to grant any charters for new Royal Arch Chapters within the colony other than for chapters to be attached to lodges remaining under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of England . On the motion of Comp . Sir GEORGE DAVID HARRIS , President , seconded by Comp . FRANK RICHARDSON , it was resolved that having regard to the fact that the Grand Lodge of New Zealand has been formally recognised by the Grand Lodge of England as a sovereign body within the colony , the recognition of the Grand Chapter of New Zealand as a Sovereign Royal Arch body be granted , and that the Supreme Grand

Chapter of England undertake not to grant any charters for new Royal Arch Chapters within the colony other than for chapters to be attached to lodges remaining under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of England .
