SANDOWN . —Sandown Lodge ( No . 1 S 69 ) . — There was a large attendance at the meeting of this lodge on Thursday , the 20 th ult ., at the lodge-room , Wilkes Hall , on the occasion of the installation of Bro . R . Loveland Loveland as VV . M ., he having been again elected to fill the chair . The ceremony of installation was performed very effectively by Bro . F . Newman , P . M ., P . P . G . S . W .,

SOUTHERN STAR LODGE ( No . 1158 ) . —The first meeting of this lodge in their new home , the Pheasant , Stangate , close to Astley ' s Theatre , was marked on Thursday last by a large attendance of brethren to assist in working the Fifteen Sections . The chair was taken by Bro . . Preceptor Wise , P . M . 115 S . Bro . A . Darch , VV . M . 72 , occupied the position of S . W ., and Bro . Holloway , J . W . 115 S , that of J . W . Amongst a number of good workers Bro . Walter

Martin , S 79 , deserves special notice for his excellent delivery of some of the most beautiful illustrations . Bro . Walter Wood , S . D . 193 , the Secretary proposed several brethren , who were unanimously elected joining members , and drew attention to the facilities for conveyance from the door of the lodge to all partsof London . Openingpunctually every Thursday at S p . m ., with officers most regular in attendance , South London brethren cannot fail to give to this lodge the encouragement it deserves .

upon them . A vote of thanks was accorded to the VV . M ., also the honorary membership of the lodge , in recognition of his eminent services rendered that evening . Bro . Durell having expressed his thanks for these marks of appreciation , returned his thanks to Bros . Musto , S . W ., and Cundick , I . P . M ., and all those brethren who had given him such valuable assistance in carrying out the duties of the evening . The lodge was duly closed in harmony .

TREDEGAR LODGE ( No . 1625 ) . —The usual meeting of this lodge of instruction was held at the Royal Hotel , Mile End-road , on the 24 th ult . There were present : Bros . Brittain , W . M . ; C . 'The lodge having been duly opened , the ceremony of initiation was ably worked ( Bro . Scheerboom acting as candidate ) by Bro . Brittain , this being the first occasion of his doing so in this lodge . Bro . Moss worked the ist , 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th , and 5 th Sections of the Lecture , with the assistance of the brethren . A vote of thanks , to be recorded upon the minutes , was unanimously passed to the W 1 M . 1 Bro . Brittain , for the efficient working * displayed .

Bro . Maud , S . W . of the mother lodge , was elected to the chair for the ensuing meeting , and the lodge was closed . At the meeting held on the 31 st ult ., Bro . Maud was W . M ., he being assisted by Bros . Clements , S . W .,- Kendall , J . W . ; Scheerboom , P . M ., S . D . ; Clarke , J . D . ; Hubbert , I . G . ; 1 * . Wooding , Preceptor ; Stewart , Sec . ; Dance , Clarke , Magrath , Stephens , and others .

After due formalities , the VV . M . worked the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Clarke acting as candidate . The ceremony of passing was afterwards worked . The lodge was opened in the ' 1 hird Degree , when the ceremony of closed down was very efficiently worked . Bro . Stephens worked the 4 th Section of thc Lecture , the brethren assisting . A welldeseived compliment was paid to Bro . Maud , the VV . M ., for his excellent working , a vote of thanks being

unanimously accorded . As the period for working the Fifteen Sections _ is approaching , Bro . G . C Stephens was unanimously invited to preside and work the Sections upon the fourth Monday in November , thc 20 th inst . Several names were given in to assist Bro . Stephens on that occasion , and the lodge was then closed , a most instructive and pleasant evening having been passed . Brethren seeking instruction would do well to pay this lodge a visit .

LANGTON LODGE ( No . 1673 ) . —A meeting was held on Thursday , the 27 th ult ., at the Mansion House Station Restaurant , Queen Victoria-street , E . C . Present : Bros . A . C Tanqueray , W . M . ; Pocock , S . W . ; Shaw , J . W . ; Sudlow , Preceptor ; J . D . Langton , Secretary ; Stoddart , S . D . ; Money , J . D . ; Hallowas , I . G . ; Hobson , J . T . H . Saunders , W . S . Besant J . T . Tanqueray

, , Steingraber , Davidson , Morriss , Chubb , Bue , Rosenthall Marshall , and others . The lodge was opened and the minutes read and confirmed , after which Bro . S . T . H . Saunders , acting as candidate for the Second Degree , answered the usual questions , and was passed to the Degree of F . C . Bro . Sudlow worked the Second Section of the First Lecture , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Steingraber

was unanimously elected W . M . for the 10 th inst ., and Bro . Sudlow stated that Bro . Duret , P . M . 1233 , had consented to act as Preceptor on those evenings when Bro . Sudlow could not attend . It was then proposed by Bro . Sudlow , seconded by Bro . J . T . Tanqueray , and carried unanimously , that Bro . Duret be elected honorary member of this lod ' ge , which was then closed .

CRUSADERS LODGE ( No . 1677 ) . —A meeting of this lodge of instruction was held at the Old Jerusalem Tavern , St . John ' s Gate , Clerkenwell , on the 27 th ult ., when there were present : Bros . Cummino-, W . M . ; "j . Rothschild , S . W . ; T . W . Tillett , J . W . ; Rest , S . D . ; J . S . hletcher , I . G . ; Geo . H . Caldenwood , acting Preceptor ; Harold Holliday , Hon . Sec ; and many other

brethren . The lodge having been opened , and the minutes of the former meeting read and confirmed , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , after which Bro . Cummings vacated thc chair of K . S . in favour of Bro . Payn , who opened the lodge in the Second and Third Degrees , and worked the ceremony of raising very impressively , Bro . Pratt being the candidate . The lodge was then resumed

in the l'irst Degree , and the W . M . elected for the ensuing week . Bro . Tillett , the W . M . designate , appointed his officers in rotation . Bros . Fletcher , Home , and Tillett were then chosen auditors for the past year , and other business having reference to the lodge having been disposed of , the lodge was closed in due form , and adjourned till Thursday , the 3 rd inst ., which is the night of the annual general meeting .

UNION WATERLOO CHAPTER ( No . 13 ) . —The regular meeting of this chapter took place at the Masonic Hall , William-street , Woolwich , on the 26 th ult ., under the presidency of the M . E . Z ., Capt . VV . Weston , assisted by the following officers and companions -. Comps . E . West , H . ; H . Shaw , J . ; E . Denton , P . Z ., and P . P . G ., P . S . Kent ; W . Gamble , P . Z . ; G . Kennedy , S . E . ; j ! Scott-Mutch , S . N . ; J . Wilkins , P . S . ; Lock , De Gray , W . B . Lloyd , J . 913 ; C Jolly , 913 ( Freemason ) , and others .

After the usual business of the chapter had been finished , the ballot was taken for Bro . G . Anderson , of Lodge 913 , and the result proving unanimous , that brother was exalted to the Supreme Degree in excellent style . The election of Z . for the ensuing twelve months was then proceeded with , and Comp . West was unanimously chosen for that position . H . Shaw , as H . ; J . Scott-Mutch , as J . ; J . Wilkin , Scribe N . ; and Lock , as P . S . The business of the chapter

being finished it was closed , and the companions adjourneel to Comp . De Gray's comfortable hostelry near the Dockyard Station , where they partook of a pleasant little supper . The only toast given was that of "The Exaltee , " and he briefly responded , and trusted to be worthy of the rank in Masonry conferred upon him . A comfortable and enjoyable evening was spent in conversation and social harmony .

PATTISON CHAPTER ( No . 913 ) . —The first convocation of the above chapter since the installation in July last took place on the 20 th ult ., at the Lord Raglan Assembly Rooms , Burrage-road , Plumstead , under the presidency of Comp . T . D . Hayes , M . E . Z ., assisted by the following officers and companions : Comps . VV . B . Lloyd , II . ; Captain Eugene Sweny , J . ; H . J . Butter , I . P . Z . ; J . McDougall , P . Z . and P . P . G . S . B . Kent ; A . Penfold .

admitted , the minutes of the last meeting were confirmed , and then Bro . Francis George Bone , of St . James' Lodge , 765 , was , with the lull ceremonial , exalted to the Supreme Degree in grand style . The working was simply perfection , not a single hitch or break occurring through the whole of the long and elaborate ritual ; and when it is remembered that this was the first effort of the Principals in their respective offices , and that Comp . R . Edmunds , with only a short notice , undertook thc office of P . S ., and did it admirably , it reflects thc highest credit upon all concerned .

SOUTHERN STAR LODGE ( No . 1158 ) . —The first meeting of this lodge in their new home , the Pheasant , Stangate , close to Astley ' s Theatre , was marked on Thursday last by a large attendance of brethren to assist in working the Fifteen Sections . The chair was taken by Bro . . Preceptor Wise , P . M . 115 S . Bro . A . Darch , VV . M . 72 , occupied the position of S . W ., and Bro . Holloway , J . W . 115 S , that of J . W . Amongst a number of good workers Bro . Walter

Martin , S 79 , deserves special notice for his excellent delivery of some of the most beautiful illustrations . Bro . Walter Wood , S . D . 193 , the Secretary proposed several brethren , who were unanimously elected joining members , and drew attention to the facilities for conveyance from the door of the lodge to all partsof London . Openingpunctually every Thursday at S p . m ., with officers most regular in attendance , South London brethren cannot fail to give to this lodge the encouragement it deserves .

M ., and all those brethren who had given him such valuable assistance in carrying out the duties of the evening . The lodge was duly closed in harmony .

TREDEGAR LODGE ( No . 1625 ) . —The usual meeting of this lodge of instruction was held at the Royal Hotel , Mile End-road , on the 24 th ult . There were present : Bros . Brittain , W . M . ; C . 'The lodge having been duly opened , the ceremony of initiation was ably worked ( Bro . Scheerboom acting as candidate ) by Bro . Brittain , this being the first occasion of his doing so in this lodge . Bro . Moss worked the ist , 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th , and 5 th Sections of the Lecture , with the assistance of the brethren . A vote of thanks , to be recorded upon the minutes , was unanimously passed to the W 1 M . 1 Bro . Brittain , for the efficient working * displayed .

Bro . Maud , S . W . of the mother lodge , was elected to the chair for the ensuing meeting , and the lodge was closed . At the meeting held on the 31 st ult ., Bro . Maud was W . After due formalities , the VV . M . worked the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Clarke acting as candidate . The ceremony of passing was afterwards worked . The lodge was opened in the ' 1 hird Degree , when the ceremony of closed down was very efficiently worked . Bro . Stephens worked the 4 th Section of thc Lecture , the brethren assisting . A welldeseived compliment was paid to Bro . Maud , the VV . M ., for his excellent working , a vote of thanks being

unanimously accorded . As the period for working the Fifteen Sections _ is approaching , Bro . G . C Stephens was unanimously invited to preside and work the Sections upon the fourth Monday in November , thc 20 th inst . Several names were given in to assist Bro . Stephens on that occasion , and the lodge was then closed , a most instructive and pleasant evening having been passed . Brethren seeking instruction would do well to pay this lodge a visit .

LANGTON LODGE ( No . 1673 ) . —A meeting was held on Thursday , the 27 th ult ., at the Mansion House Station Restaurant , Queen Victoria-street , E . C . Present : Bros . A . C Tanqueray , W . , , Steingraber , Davidson , Morriss , Chubb , Bue , Rosenthall Marshall , and others . The lodge was opened and the minutes read and confirmed , after which Bro . S . T . H . Saunders , acting as candidate for the Second Degree , answered the usual questions , and was passed to the Degree of F . C . Bro . Sudlow worked the Second Section of the First Lecture , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Steingraber

was unanimously elected W . M . for the 10 th inst ., and Bro . Sudlow stated that Bro . Duret , P . M . 1233 , had consented to act as Preceptor on those evenings when Bro . Sudlow could not attend . It was then proposed by Bro . Sudlow , seconded by Bro . J . T . Tanqueray , and carried unanimously , that Bro . Duret be elected honorary member of this lod ' ge , which was then closed .

CRUSADERS LODGE ( No . 1677 ) . —A meeting of this lodge of instruction was held at the Old Jerusalem Tavern , St . John ' s Gate , Clerkenwell , on the 27 th ult ., when there were present : Bros . Cummino-, W . M . ; "j . Rothschild , S . W . ; T . W . Tillett , J . W . ; Rest , S . D . ; J . S . hletcher , I . G . ; Geo . H . Caldenwood , acting Preceptor ; Harold Holliday , Hon . Sec ; and many other

brethren . The lodge having been opened , and the minutes of the former meeting read and confirmed , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , after which Bro . Cummings vacated thc chair of K . S . in favour of Bro . Payn , who opened the lodge in the Second and Third Degrees , and worked the ceremony of raising very impressively , Bro . Pratt being the candidate . The lodge was then resumed

in the l'irst Degree , and the W . M . elected for the ensuing week . Bro . Tillett , the W . M . designate , appointed his officers in rotation . Bros . Fletcher , Home , and Tillett were then chosen auditors for the past year , and other business having reference to the lodge having been disposed of , the lodge was closed in due form , and adjourned till Thursday , the 3 rd inst ., which is the night of the annual general meeting .

UNION WATERLOO CHAPTER ( No . 13 ) . —The regular meeting of this chapter took place at the Masonic Hall , William-street , Woolwich , on the 26 th ult ., under the presidency of the M . E . After the usual business of the chapter had been finished , the ballot was taken for Bro . G . Anderson , of Lodge 913 , and the result proving unanimous , that brother was exalted to the Supreme Degree in excellent style . The election of Z . for the ensuing twelve months was then proceeded with , and Comp . West was unanimously chosen for that position . H . Shaw , as H . ; J . Scott-Mutch , as J . ; J . being finished it was closed , and the companions adjourneel to Comp . De Gray's comfortable hostelry near the Dockyard Station , where they partook of a pleasant little supper . The only toast given was that of "The Exaltee , " and he briefly responded , and trusted to be worthy of the rank in Masonry conferred upon him . A comfortable and enjoyable evening was spent in conversation and social harmony .

PATTISON CHAPTER ( No . 913 ) . —The first convocation of the above chapter since the installation in July last took place on the 20 th ult ., at the Lord Raglan Assembly Rooms , Burrage-road , Plumstead , under the presidency of Comp . T . D . Hayes , M . E . Z ., assisted by the following officers and companions : Comps . VV . B . Lloyd , II . ; Captain Eugene Sweny , J . ; H . J . Butter , I . P . Z . ; J . McDougall , P . admitted , the minutes of the last meeting were confirmed , and then Bro . Francis George Bone , of St . James' Lodge , 765 , was , with the lull ceremonial , exalted to the Supreme Degree in grand style . The working was simply perfection , not a single hitch or break occurring through the whole of the long and elaborate ritual ; and when it is remembered that this was the first effort of the Principals in their respective offices , and that Comp . R . Edmunds , with only a short notice , undertook thc office of P . S ., and did it admirably , it reflects thc highest credit upon all concerned .
