The companions having approved of the officers named in the charter , an oration was delivered by Comp . Capt . E . H . THORNE , Prov . Grand H .,

He also expressed , on behalf of the companions of the province , the fervent hope that the new chapter would ever bear in mind the

principles of brotherly love , relief , and truth , which were the foundation of Masonic principles and practice in all degress , and that in the time to come it would be widely known amongst the Masons of their province and elsewhere for its fidelity and devotion to the noble work in which they were engaged .

Another lodge was on Thursday , the 27 th ult ., added to the already extensive roll , this time in the Province of West Lancashire . Bro . W . Goodacre , P . G . Swd Br ., and Prov . G . Sec , in the absence of Bro . the Right Hon . the Earl of Lathom , performed the ceremony . Notwithstanding the unpropitious state of the weather some Go brethren attended , amongst whom

were : Bros . John Chadwick , P . G . Swd . Br ., P . G . Sec . East Lancashire ; C . Sinclair , P . J . G . W . ; Barrow , P . P . G . D . ; VVm . Bowden , P . P . G . S . B . ; Rev . J . F . Hogg-Goggin , P . P . G . Chap . East Lancashire ; W . H . Dutton , P . P . G . D . C . Cheshire ;

Williams , P . M . Worsley Lodge , P . P . G . S . vd . Br . ; E . C . Mather , P . G . Stwd . ; E . L . Littler , P . M . 1730 ; J . J . Lambert , P . M . 13 S 7 ; J . M . Simpson , 13 S 7 ; T . Wilson , 1 S 14 , 13 S 7 ; J . G . Bromley , P . M . 1375 ; Wm . Hall , P . M . 13 S 7 ; Beardmore , 85 a ; Dr . W . G . Martin , P . M . 1 S 14 ; R . R . Lisenden , P . M . 317 , P . G . Stwd . East Lanca ' shire ; and many others .

The home of the lodge will be at the Bull Hotel , and by the time these lines are printed , Mr . Knight , the courteous host , will have been initiated into the mysteries of the Cralt . There not being sufficient convenience in the hotel for the consecration , it took place in the Unitarian School Room , and when it is considered that owing to a variety of unforeseen circumstances , the room at 11 o ' clock was in exactly the same state as when the

children left it the previous day . The transformation that took place in the space of four hours , with very limited assistance , was simply wonderful . The thanks of all interested in this lodge are unquestionably due to the W . M ., Bro . Chadderton , who , in preparing everything , worked simply alone . Shortly before three most of the brethren had assembled , and the ceremony commenced .

Bro . William Goodacre was assisted in his duties b y Bros , C . Sinclair , P . J . G . W ., acting S . VV . ; VVm . Bowden , P . P . G . S . B ., acting J . W . ; the Rev . J . F . Hogg-Goggin , Chap . ; and John Chadwick , Prov . G . Sec . East Lancashire . After a Craft lodge had been opened , Bro . GOODACRE exp lained tne object for consecrating the lodge . The petition for forming and the warrant alike were read and approved .

Bro . the Rev . J . F . HOGG-GOGGIN then delivered a most eloquent oration on the principles and tenets of Freemasonry , and the useful lessons to oe derived therefrom , and concluded by expressing a hope that the new lodge would become a worthy addition to the already large existing roll- ,. The anthem " Behold how good and joyful " was sung , and the dedication prayer , offered by the P . G . Chaplain , followed .
