KENNINGTON LODGE OF INSTRUCTION , No . 1381 .

This lodge , which has been doing good work in the neighbourhood for some time past , held a special meeting at the New Horns Tavern , Kennington Park , on Friday , the 28 th ult . The principal feature of interest was the working of the ceremonies of consecration and installation

by Bro . James Terry , P . G . Swd . Br ., Sec . R . M . Benevolent Institution . The announcement that this would take place induced a large number of brethren to visit the lodge , and when the proceedings opened the spacious ro m which is used for Masonic purposes was well filled . Owing to the unavoidable absence of Bro . George Everett , P . M ., P . Z ., who was prevented by indisposition from attending , the

chair was taken by Bro . W . P . Webb , P . M . 13 S 1 , Preceptor . He was supported by Bros . Richard La Feuillade , W . M . 13 S 1 ; W . W . Westley , A . Lundie , B . Phillips , P . M . ; H . G . 1897 ; and others . The lodge having been opened in the Three Degrees , Bro . James Terry , P . G . S . B ., assumed the chair , and proceeded to carry out the ceremony ot consecration—in the course of which he delivered an eloquent discourse on the nature and principlesof Freemasonry . The ceremony was most ably worked in every detail , the brethren joining

heartily in the customary hymns and other incidental music , and thus adding considerably to the impressiveness of the working . At the conclusion of the ceremony the installation was proceeded with , and a Board of Installed Masters having been formed , Bro . R . La Feuillade was regularly installed into the chair by Bro . Terry , according to ancient custom . Bro . Terry then completed his labours by

investing the officers and delivering the usual addresses . The whole of the proceedings were conducted in a very able and careful manner , and afforded considerable gratificaiion to the large number of brethren present , who listened intently to the admirable and impressive rendering of Bro . Terry . Bro . LA FEUILLADE , W . M ., then said he was about to ask a vote at the hands of the brethren , which he knew

would be granted unanimously . It was a vote of thanks to Bro . Terry , P . G . S . B ., for having so kindly consented to attend and work the consecration and installation ceremonies . Having never witnessed the rehearsal of the consecration before , he had been very pleased and impressed with the able manner in which Bro . Terry had performed the duties . He , therefore , proposed that a very cordial

vote of thanks should be passed and recorded on the minutes to Bro . Terry for his valuable services . Bro . W . P . WEBB , P . M ., having seconded the motion , it was carried unanimously . Bro . J AMES TERRY , P . G . S . B ., thanked them very sincerely for this mark of their favour . The appreciation of the brethren was at all times welcome , but he regarded it

as a special favour on the present occasion , knowing them so well as he did , and therefore being awage they weie paying no idle compliment . He should regard it as a distinguished honour if they would allow him to become a joining member . A large number of visiting brethren present , including Bro . Terry , having been duly proposed and seconded . were

unanimously elected members of the lodge . On the motion of Bro . TERRY , a hearty vote of thanks was given to Bro . J La Feuillade for the able services he had rendered by presiding in an efficient manner at the pianoforte . The lodge was then closed in due form , and the brethren adjourned to an excellent repast , served under the personal

superintendence of the worthy host , Bro . W . T . Buxton . Bro . W . P . WEBB , P . M ., presided , and proposed the usual loyal and Masonic toasts . In proposing " The Visitors , " Bro . WEBB said they were pleased to see such a goodly array of visiting breihren present , and were also gratified that so many of their number had been enrolled as members . Their lodee was

fortunate in having the use of a splendid room for the purpose of Masonry , which was , he thought , second to none in London . It was an incentive to brethren to occupy a spare hour in the Lodgeof Instruction , which materially benefited those who aspired to Masonic honours . Bro . GREEN , J . W . 728 , on behalf of lhe visitors , thanked the members very sincerely for their hospitality . He had travelled along distance , his lodge meeting in S . Africa . It

had afforded him extreme gratification to see the able and perfect manner in which the consecration and installation ceremonies were worked by Bro . Terry . He should not easil y forget his visit to their lodge . The Tyler ' s toast closed a very successful and enjoyable meeting . During the evening several brethren rendered some capital musical selections , Bro . J . La Feuillade presiding at the pianoforte in a brilliant manner .

Husband ' s portrait , in recognition of the truly Masonic banner in which he had discharged the duties of Master j } % two successive years . The presentation of the Mdress was made , in the name of the lodge , by Bro . S . Moss P . P . S . G . D ., and that of the portrait to Mrs . Bland by the W . M . elect , Bro . Renwick . I . ) — This old council , which meets under the authority of the Grand Council of the Allied Degrees , had a meeting at the Masonic Hall , Red Lion-square , on the 2 Sch ult . The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the report of the Audit Committee vvas received and adopted . It was unanimously resolved that in consideration of the nuny valuable services rendered to this council by Bro . C . F . Matier , P . G . D . M ., he be elected an

honorary member . It was also unanimously resolved that the thanks of the council are pre-eminently due to Bro . Powell , Treas ., and the members of the Au lit Committee for the excellent and thoroughly satisfactory imnner in which they have discharged their respective duties . A
