The annual meeting of the above Provincial Grand Lodge was held at Dursley on Tuesday , the 19 th inst ., when , notwithstanding the considerable difficulty of access from outlying lodges of the province , there was a numerous attendance . The Prov . Grand Master , Bro . the Rt . Hon . Sir M . E . Hicks-Beach , Bart ., M . P ., who had only just recovered from an attack of influenza , presided , and received the congratulations of the brethren on his convalescence . He was attended by his Deputy , Bro . R . V . Provincial Grand Lodge having been opened , the proceedings of the last meeting were read , and signed by the P . G . M . They were the record of the interesting gathering held on Whit Tuesday of last year in the Chapter House of Gloucester Cathedral , when a final subscription from Provincial Grand Lodge to complete
the reredos erected in the Cathedral by the Masons of Gloucestershire , was made . The report and accounts of the Prov . Grand Treasurer were read and adopted . They showed a satisfactory balance in hand after payment of various contributions authorised by Provincial Grand Lodge , including one of 50 guineas towards the reredos fund .
The report of the Charity Secretary , Bro . VASSAR-SMITH , D . P . G . M ., showed that the province had elected a candidate to the Girls' School , and by a contribution of 500 votes had assisted in the election of a second candidate from Oxfordshire , whose father had been initiated in a Gloucestershire lodge . Thereportcontinued" The present position of the province as regards voting power is : in debt for Schools , 597 votes ; in debt for Benevolent Institution , 1247 votes . The
attendances at the Masonic Festivals have been—Boys' School , 18 90 , five Stewards collecting £ 74 ns . ; Girls' School , 1891 , three Stewards collecting £ 63—£ 137 ns . The subscriptions to the Provincial Benevolent Fund have been £ 43 is . 4 d . Grants have been made through the lodges amounting to £ 6 o , and the balance in hand is £ 13 $ 12 s . 8 d . At the Quarterly Court of the Governors
of the Boys' School , held in April last , the report of the Provisional Management Committee was received , and we may conclude that the Institution has been completel y re-organised , and is now in a very much improved and more satisfactory condition . Under the revised by-laws the Board of Management now consists of 30 members—15 from London and 15 from the provinces . "
The PROVINCIAL GRAND MASTER , in putting the report for adoption , remarked 'hat ^ the thanks of the lodge were due to the Charity Secretary , both for his services in that capacity and for the part he had taken upon the Provisional Committee in the efficient re-organisation of the Masonic Boys' School . On the proposal of the DEPUTY PROVINCIAL GRAND MASTER , seconded by the 1 ROVINCIAL JUNIOR GRAND WARDEN , Bro . Nelson Foster was unanimously reelected Treasurer .

The Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England and Wales and the Colonies and Dependencies of the British Crown was held on Tuesday evening at Mark Masons' Hall , London , on which occasion there was a full attendance of the brethren of the Order . The Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England and Wales and the Colonies and Dependencies of the British Crown was held on Tuesday evening at Mark Masons' Hall , London , on which occasion there was a full attendance of the brethren of the Order . The Marquess of Hertford , M . W . Pro Grand Master , presided , and was supported by the Earl , of Euston , Deputy Grand Master . Viscount Dungarvan was in the Grand Senior Warden ' s
chair , and Colonel Shadwell H . Clerke in the Grand Junior Warden ' s chair . Bros . Chief Justice Way , Grand Master of South Australia ; Colonel Lumsden , Grand Master East Aberdeenshire , and other visitors were present . After Grand Lodge had been opened , the Pro Grand Master was saluted . The minutes of the March meeting having been read and confirmed , Scrutineers of votes for the election of members of the General Board were
appointed . By command of the Pro Grand Master , the letter from the Duke of Connaught —which appears in the report of the General Board—was read . On the motion of Bro . Col . A . B .
