Cockburn , ar . d the Deputy Prov . Grard Master , Bro . E . C Ozanne .

The Provincial Grand Lodge was then opened , after which the minutes of the meeting of May 31 st , 1895 , were read and confirmed . The Auditors' report was read and adopted , B'o . T . C . ROYLE , one of the Auditors , congratulating the Prov . Grand Master on the very satisfactory balance in hand .

Bro . J . T . Laine , Prov . Grand Treasurer , was proposed in eulogistic terms for re-election by Bro . T . J . MITCHELL . Bro . Laine was re-elected amid applause . Bros . H . Merrall , iSog , and C . T . Cooke , W . M . 243 , were unanimously elected Auditors for 1 S 9 6-97 . The Provincial Grand Master then proceeded to invest his officers as follows :

Stitt for having officiated as Chaplain , not only for the Provincial Grand Lodge , but also for having assisted at the consecration of St . Sampson ' s Lodge .

Prov . Grand Lodge was afterwards closed , and a banquet was held in connection with the new St . Sampson ' s Lodge and the Provincial Grand Lodge , which was attended by a large number of brethren . During the course of the evening , the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and heartily responded to . Altogether a very enjoyable evening was spent .

Royal Masonic Institution For Girls.

ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS .

On Saturday last Bro . Sir Walter Wilkin , P . G . W ., the Right Hon , the Lord Mayor , and the Lady Mayoress , with their daughter , Miss Eva Wilkin ( all being Life Governors of the Institution ) , received and hospitably entertained at the Mansion House 150 of the elder pupils , who were accompanied by Misses Davis , Buck , and Redgrave , and about a dozen other members of the Staff . The Guildhall , with its interesting Museum and Art Gallery , having been first visited , on his lordship's suggestion the children marched across to the Mansion House

under kindly and careful police escort and soon settled down to the enjoyment , in the Saloon , of the well-known entertainment of Bro . Harry Tipper , P . G . Purst ., assisted bv the Royal Criterion Hand Bell Ringers and Glee Singers and the Misses Gertrude and Florence Tipper . This was most delightful , and was followed by tea in the Egyptian Hall and dancing in the old ball room , and at seven o ' clock the little guests departed to drive home , well pleased with a novel treat they will not readily forget . The House Committee and Secretary , by special invitation , were in attendance .

CONSECRATION OF THE TRAVELLERS' LODGE , No . 2609 .

There was a large and distinguished gathering of brethren at Chester on Saturday , the 30 th ult ., on the occasion of the consecration of the above lodge . The new lodge , which makes the fourth in the city , numbered respectively , 425 . 721 , 2386 , and 2609 , has been formed mainly , though not

exclusively , for the convenience of commercial travellers who are members of the Craft . For the first time in Chester , if not in Cheshire , the consecration was performed by the Grand Secretary of England , Bro . E . Letchworth ,

who had the assistance of several distinguished Provincial Grand Officers , Present and Past . Bros . Lord Egerton and Sir Horatio Lloyd , the latter , at the last moment , were unable to be present , but the attendance was in various respects unique in the annals of local Masonry .

The chapter having been opened , Bro . C . Richardson was exalted by dispensation to the Degree of a Royal Arch Mason , all the officers doing their work most creditably . The companions afterwards partook of light repast in the Club Room .

Royal Middlesex Chapter , No . 1194 . The installation meeting was held at the Mitre Hotel , Hampton Court , on Siturday , the roth ult . There was a good attendance , among whom we noticed Comps . The minutes were approved , and the three Principals were installed hy Comps . Sudlow , Taylor , and Dodd , and the officers invested by the M . E . Z . The report of the Audit Committee was read , and showed a balance of about £ 70 , all of which was in the Post Office Savings Bank . The Treasurer said he had arranged to pay the £ 10 ios . voted to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution " In Menioriam Comp . Kuby , Z .,

1 S 95 . " Comp . Denniss thanked the chapter for placing the amount on his list ; n Steward , and was pleased to say the total ot his list was over £ 200 . Comp . Smlliw also proposed a vote of £ i 3 s . from the chapter fund towards the " Kirby Memorial . " This was seconded by Comp . Langton , and the chapter also passed a unanimous vote that the grant should be devoted towards the proposed memorial over the late companion ' s grave .

A pleasing feature of the evening was the visit of Comp . G . Botley , who was exalted with his brother , Frederick Botley , on the proposition of the late Comp . Roebuck , some years since , and having gone to Hasting ; to reside , an 1 done gjod work in Clupter No . 40 , has been appointed Prov . G J . ot Sussex by the Grind Superintendent .

THK ULOIUHS of the old I rocadcro in its best days are to be more than revived , as Messrs . J . Lyons & Co . have erected upon its site at Piccadill y Circus one of ' the grandest restaurants to be found in Europe . For elegance and convenience of construction , splendour of decoration , and the comfort and completeness of the general

appointments it would be difficult to find its peer . The cuisine of J . Z ., and Rev .

The chapter having been opened , Bro . C . Richardson was exalted by dispensation to the Degree of a Royal Arch Mason , all the officers doing their work most creditably . The companions afterwards partook of light repast in the Club Room .

Royal Middlesex Chapter , No . 1194 . The installation meeting was held at the Mitre Hotel , Hampton Court , on Siturday , the roth ult . There was a good attendance , among whom we noticed Comps . The minutes were approved , and the three Principals were installed hy Comps . Sudlow , Taylor , and Dodd , and the officers invested by the M . E . Z . The report of the Audit Committee was read , and showed a balance of about £ 70 , all of which was in the Post Office Savings Bank . The Treasurer said he had arranged to pay the £ 10 ios . voted to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution " In Menioriam Comp . Kuby , Z .,

1 S 95 . " Comp . Denniss thanked the chapter for placing the amount on his list ; n Steward , and was pleased to say the total ot his list was over £ 200 . Comp . Smlliw also proposed a vote of £ i 3 s . from the chapter fund towards the " Kirby Memorial . " This was seconded by Comp . Langton , and the chapter also passed a unanimous vote that the grant should be devoted towards the proposed memorial over the late companion ' s grave .

. .. . . . The companions dined together , and it is needless to say anything in praise of the dinner or the cooking , for which the Mitre is so well known . A pleasing feature of the evening was the visit of Comp . G . Botley , who was exalted with his brother , Frederick Botley , on the proposition of the late Comp . Roebuck , some years since , and having gone to Hasting ; to reside , an 1 done gjod work in Clupter No . 40 , has been appointed Prov . G J . ot Sussex by the Grind Superintendent .
