The Quarterly Communication of Mark Grand Lodge was held at Mark Masons' Hall , and the Grand Festival of the Order at the Freemasons' Tavern adjoining , on Tuesday , the 2 nd instant . Bro . the Earl of Euston , Pro Grand Master , presided , both in Grand Lodge and at the banquet table , and everything passed off with

the g reatest success . The business , as shadowed forth in tic paper of agenda in our last week's issue , was carried out strictly in accordance with the several recommendations , while , as regards the Festival , we need not say more than that the Stewards well merited the compliments paid to them for the excellence of their arrangements . # #

* The annual athletic sports of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys will , by the kind invitation of Bro . George Everett , Past Grand Treasurer , be held at Kempton Park on Saturday , the 13 th instant . The arrangements are about the same as they were last year . A special train will leave Waterloo ( North )

Station , No . 8 Platform , at 12 . 45 p . m ., and , calling at Vauxhall at 12 . 50 , Clapham Junction at 12 . 55 , and Richmond at 1 . 13 , will arrive at Kempton Park Station at 1 . 30 p . m . Return fares , first class , 2 s . ; second class , is . 6 d . Of the 13 new lodges for which warrants of Constitution have been granted since the March Communication of Grand Lodge , five are located in London , namely : The London County Council , No . 2603 ; the London School Board , No . 2611 ; the Navy , No . 2612 :

the Household Brigade , No . 2614 ; and the Zodiac , No . 2615 . Five are located in the Provinces , namely The Wyreside , No . 2605 , in Lancashire ; the Fforest No . 2606 , South Wales ; the Headingley , No . 2608 Leeds , West Yorkshire ; the Travellers ' , No . 2600

Cheshire ; and the Beresford-Peirse , No . 2610 , Bedale , in Yorkshire . The following three are located abroad : The Moore , No . 2604 , Bangalore , in the District of Madras ; the Prosperity , No . 2607 , Johannesburg , in the District of the Transvaal ; and the Amity , No . 2613 , in Queensland .

The Royal Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , will be the scene of an interesting Masonic function on Monday next , the 8 th inst ., when the Sympathy Chapter , No . 4 . 83 , will be consecrated . The ceremony will be performed by Comp . Earl Amherst , Grand Superintendent

for Kent , who will be assisted by the officers of his Prov . Grand Chapter . Subsequentl y the Principals designate will be installed , and there will be the customary banquet at 5 p . m . The hour fixed for the consecration is 2 . 45 p . m .

The annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex will be held at the Public Hall , Harrowon-the-Hill , ou Saturday , the 27 th instant , under the presidency of Bro . the Right Hon . Lord George Hamilton , M . P ., Prov . Grand Master . The hour fixed

for opening Provincial Grand Lodge is 3 . 45 p . m ., and a dinner will be served in the Assembly Room adjoining the King ' s Head Hotel , for which tickets , price 6 s . each , exclusive of wine , must be applied for to the Provincial Grand Secretary , Bro . H . H . Room , 19 , John-street , Adel p hi , not later than Friday , the 19 th instant .

The 109 th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey was held in Trenton on the 29 th and 30 th January last , under the presidency of Bro . C . Belcher , M . W . G . M ., among the visitors present being the Grand Master and Grand Secretary of New York ,

and the Grand and Deputy Grand Masters , the J . G . Warden and Grand Secretary of Pennsylvania . In the course of his address the Grand Master is reported to have announced that he had suspended three W . Ms , from office for gross irregularity in work and disciplined

four lodges for neglecting to comply with the law . He also reported that he had made a Mason at sight , which the Voice of Masonry regards as " an inexcusable thing , " it being its opinion that a Grand Master possesses no such prerogative . Grand Lodge declared

—and very properly—that " the use of robes or costumes in conferring the degrees of Symbolic Masonry" was " an innovation , " while the Grand Master was given very plainly to understand that he has no power " to annul a regular election of officers ,

nor to order a new election for the stations and places filled by them , and that such new election was a nullity and conferred no authority upon the brothers chosen thereat . " The number of lodges on the roll of this Grand Lodge is 165 and the nnmber of subscribing

members 15 , 686 . Bro . Belcher was succeeded as Grand Master by Bro . George W . Fortmeyer , while Bro Thomas 11 . R . Redway remains at his post of Grand Secretary . * * *

The Grand Chapter of New York held its 99 th Annual Convocation in Albany , on the 4 U 1 and 5 th February , Comp . M . L . Greenwood , G . H . P ., presided , and in addition to the Grand Officers , Present and Past , there attended the representatives of uSj

chapters . The G . H . P ., in the course of his address , referred to the near approach ol the Centenary of the Grand Chapter . The sum of 250 dollars was voted towards the erection of a monument to the memory of the late Comp . John L . Lewis , Past G . H . P . There

are 1 S 6 chapters on the roli , with an aggregate of 19 , 000 subscribing members . Comp . George E . W . Stivers is the G . H . P . for the present year , and Comp . Christopher G . Fox still occupies the post of Grand Secretary .

The Royal Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , will be the scene of an interesting Masonic function on Monday next , the 8 th inst ., when the Sympathy Chapter , No . 4 . 83 , will be consecrated . The ceremony will be performed by Comp . Earl Amherst , Grand Superintendent

for Kent , who will be assisted by the officers of his Prov . Grand Chapter . Subsequentl y the Principals designate will be installed , and there will be the customary banquet at 5 p . m . The hour fixed for the consecration is 2 . 45 p . m .

The annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex will be held at the Public Hall , Harrowon-the-Hill , ou Saturday , the 27 th instant , under the presidency of Bro . the Right Hon . Lord George Hamilton , M . P ., Prov . Grand Master . The hour fixed

for opening Provincial Grand Lodge is 3 . 45 p . m ., and a dinner will be served in the Assembly Room adjoining the King ' s Head Hotel , for which tickets , price 6 s . each , exclusive of wine , must be applied for to the Provincial Grand Secretary , Bro . H . H . Room , 19 , John-street , Adel p hi , not later than Friday , the 19 th instant .

The 109 th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey was held in Trenton on the 29 th and 30 th January last , under the presidency of Bro . C . Belcher , M . W . G . M ., among the visitors present being the Grand Master and Grand Secretary of New York ,

and the Grand and Deputy Grand Masters , the J . G . Warden and Grand Secretary of Pennsylvania . In the course of his address the Grand Master is reported to have announced that he had suspended three W . Ms , from office for gross irregularity in work and disciplined

four lodges for neglecting to comply with the law . He also reported that he had made a Mason at sight , which the Voice of Masonry regards as " an inexcusable thing , " it being its opinion that a Grand Master possesses no such prerogative . Grand Lodge declared

—and very properly—that " the use of robes or costumes in conferring the degrees of Symbolic Masonry" was " an innovation , " while the Grand Master was given very plainly to understand that he has no power " to annul a regular election of officers ,

nor to order a new election for the stations and places filled by them , and that such new election was a nullity and conferred no authority upon the brothers chosen thereat . " The number of lodges on the roll of this Grand Lodge is 165 and the nnmber of subscribing

members 15 , 686 . Bro . Belcher was succeeded as Grand Master by Bro . George W . Fortmeyer , while Bro Thomas 11 . R . Redway remains at his post of Grand Secretary . * * *

The Grand Chapter of New York held its 99 th Annual Convocation in Albany , on the 4 U 1 and 5 th February , Comp . M . L . Greenwood , G . H . P ., presided , and in addition to the Grand Officers , Present and Past , there attended the representatives of uSj

chapters . The G . H . P ., in the course of his address , referred to the near approach ol the Centenary of the Grand Chapter . The sum of 250 dollars was voted towards the erection of a monument to the memory of the late Comp . John L . Lewis , Past G . H . P . There

are 1 S 6 chapters on the roli , with an aggregate of 19 , 000 subscribing members . Comp . George E . W . Stivers is the G . H . P . for the present year , and Comp . Christopher G . Fox still occupies the post of Grand Secretary .
