Masters gave notice of motion "Ihat a lodge of instruction be heid in connection with the lodge , and to meet at the Red Lion Hotel , Hampton . " Letters from Bros . R . H . Thrupp , D . P . G . M ., Proctor , and others were read pleading inability to attend . The lodge was then duly closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . The usual toasts followed .

M . and Treas ., to both candidates . Bro . Thos . Matthews was subsequently raised to the Sublime Degree of a M . M . by Bro . Charles Turner , P . M . ion , in a very efficient manner . Bro . Turner also delivered the

traditional history to Bro . Matthews , and two other brethren and Bro . Irving presented the working tools . Bro . Walter Pettitt performed the duties of S . D . in a highly satisfactory manner . At the usual time for such business , the W . M . proposed a vote of thanks lo Bro . Harrop for his kindness in making and presenting \ o the lodge a very handsome frame for the warrant , which was seconded , and carried

unanimously . There being no further business , " Hearty good wishes " were expressed by the visitors , and the lodge was closed . The brethren afterwards sat down to a substantial tea " ; i la fourchette , " prepared by "Sister Gaggs , " which gave great satisfaction . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , and Bro . Seymour Jackson proposed "The Healths of the

newlypassed Brethren , " which was heartily drunk . Bro . Collier responded to the toast . Bro . Oliver Gaggs proposed "The Health of Bro . Tom Matthews , " the newly-raised brother , in eulogistic terms . Bro . Matthews returned thanks in a few appropriate sentences . The toast of "The Visiting Brethren " was well received , and Bros . Dr . Royle , P . P . G . D ., J . Ashton , 1147 , and

Barlow , 1219 , replied . The musical contributions were indeed a treat to listen to . The chorus " Comrades in arms" was rendered by Bros . Seymour Jackson , N . and VV . On rising for the' second time , Bro . VV . C . Smith proposed that Bro . Howard Sammons be W . M . for the ensuing week—seconded by the J . W ., and carried unanimously . The W . M . elect was pleased to appoint his officers in rotation . On rising for the third time , nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed .

TREDEGAR LODGE ( No . 162 $ ) . —At the weekly meeting held at tlie Wellington Arms , Wellington-road , Bow , on the 281 I 1 ult ., there was a go dly attendance of the brethren , it being the ffrst night of the Masonic Association which' has just been inaugurated . It had long heen felt by the brethren that a Masonic Association should be formed , and thanks to the efforts of Bro . D . Moss , P . M . 1275 , who undertook to give his experience , he being an old Secretary to a Masonic Association which has been wound up , he has whipped up the brethren of the various lodges in the East and been

successful in getting nearly 50 members . After the usual business of the evening , which consisted of the VV . M ., Bro . Carey , working the ceremony of initiation , the lodge was closed for the purpose of proceeding with the ballot . Bro . W , Musto , P . M ., who was elect President , supported by Bro . Stewart , VV . M . 1278 , Vice-President , and the Committee , including Bro . C . N . Fox , who was elected Secretpty , tht n proceeded to ballot for the lirst Life-Governorship , which fell to Bro . Fox , Secretary , * ho , we

are pleased to sav , fully deserves it , as he has not only undertaken the arduous duties of Secretary , but has aken 110 less than live shares of the Association . Brethren are cordially invited to join , it being a good opportunity for brethren to obtain Life-Governor , ships without feeling the loss of their money . Any information that may be required will be readily given by the Secretary . The lodge meets every Thursday evening at 7 . 30 , when brethren will be cordially welcomed .

William Bellamy , 1627 , was unanimously elected a joining member of this lodge of instruction , bci"g proposed by Bro . G . Reynolds , and seconded by Bro . G . H . Reynolds . On rising for the' second time , Bro . VV . C . Smith proposed that Bro . Howard Sammons be W . M . for the ensuing week—seconded by the J . W ., and carried unanimously . The W . M . elect was pleased to appoint his officers in rotation . On rising for the third time , nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed .

TREDEGAR LODGE ( No . 162 $ ) . —At the weekly meeting held at tlie Wellington Arms , Wellington-road , Bow , on the 281 I 1 ult ., there was a go dly attendance of the brethren , it being the ffrst night of the Masonic Association which' has just been inaugurated . It had long heen felt by the brethren that a Masonic Association should be formed , and thanks to the efforts of Bro . D . Moss , P . M . 1275 , who undertook to give his experience , he being an old Secretary to a Masonic Association which has been wound up , he has whipped up the brethren of the various lodges in the East and been

successful in getting nearly 50 members . After the usual business of the evening , which consisted of the VV . M ., Bro . Carey , working the ceremony of initiation , the lodge was closed for the purpose of proceeding with the ballot . Bro . W , Musto , P . M ., who was elect President , supported by Bro . Stewart , VV . M . 1278 , Vice-President , and the Committee , including Bro . C . N . Fox , who was elected Secretpty , tht n proceeded to ballot for the lirst Life-Governorship , which fell to Bro . Fox , Secretary , * ho , we

are pleased to sav , fully deserves it , as he has not only undertaken the arduous duties of Secretary , but has aken 110 less than live shares of the Association . Brethren are cordially invited to join , it being a good opportunity for brethren to obtain Life-Governor , ships without feeling the loss of their money . Any information that may be required will be readily given by the Secretary . The lodge meets every Thursday evening at 7 . 30 , when brethren will be cordially welcomed .

Locke installed his officers . Lodge was resumed to the First Degree . A vote of thanks was carried to Bro . Woods for the able manner in which he had carried out the duties ut W . M . for the first lime in this lodge . Bru . Hub-bird was elected VV . M , fur next meeting , and the oilicers were appointed in rotation . The lodge was then closed .
