City of Westminster Lodge ( No . 1563 ) . — The installation meeting of this lodge was held at the Regent Masonic Temple , Cafe Royal , Regent-street , on Thursday , the 27 th ult ., under the presidency of Bro . C . M . Brander performed the duties of Installing Master with admirable precision in his working , and delivered the charges most impressively . The remaining Masonic business having been transacted ,

the brethren adjourned to refreshment and harmony . After an excellently served banquet , that reflected credit on the well-earned celebrity of the Cafe Royal cuisine and wine cellar , the usual loyal toasts—including that of " The Grand Officers" —were proposed in terms fit but few by the W . M ., and responded to with true Masonic fervour by the brethren .

"The VVorshipful Master" was then proposed by Bro . Brander , I . P . M ., who referred to the creditable Masonic career of the new W . M . as an earnest of what he would be in the chair . The Worshipful Master suitably replied , and then proposed "The Health of the Installing Master , " whose example , he said , he hoped to profit by , and was

determined that , with the efficient aid of his officers , in whom he had every confidence , he could not fail to give satisfaction . For "The Initiates , " the newly-made brother ( C White ) very appropriately responded , and expressed his pleasure in joining the distinguished Order of Freemasons , and hoped to prove a worthy brother , and in his turn to adorn the chair

itself . For "The Visitors" Bros . Parsons , P . M . ; Gardner , P . G . S . B . Bucks ; and others replied , and , taking their cue from the W . M ., combined the multum in pii ' vo in their remarks . For " The Past Masters , the Treasurer and Secretary , " Bros . J . A . Hammond and J . E . Shand , two veterans in Masonic honours , favoured the brethren with a few " words

in season in a way befitting their experience and knowledge of procedure , in which they were ably seconded by Bro . Cox , P . M . For " The Officers" Bro . C . Filhon and others responded . During the intervals Bros . Walter Perrin , Jas . Baynes , and Curtis D'Alton discoursed most excellent music , Bro . Trego presiding at the pianoforte .

Evening Star Lodge ( No . 1719 ) . —The installation meeting of this very prosperous lodge was held at Freemasons' Hall on Wednesday , the 26 th ult . The members were in great force , under the presidency of Bro . P . H . Martin , W . M ., and in addition there was a numerous muster of visitors . The minutes of the previous meeting having been read

and confirmed , Bro . Martin , assisted by his officers , very impressively raised Bro . F . H . Harris to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason , the ceremony being admirably carried out in all its several parts . Bro . William Sugg , P . M ., presented Bro . Walter King to receive the benefits of installation , and a Board of Installed Masters having been formed , Bro . Martin completed the circle of his duties as

Master by very ably installing his successor in the chair of K . S . Bro . King then appointed as his officers for the year Bros . David W . Sugg , S . W . ; W . A . M . Valon , J . W . ; Rev . C . The other business having been dispatched , the lodge was closed with the accustomed formalities , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet room . When dinner was over , the usual toasts were honoured , those of *; The W . M . " and " I . P . M . " being received with especial distinction .

adopted . Bro . F . Manby , W . M . elect , was introduced to the W . M . by Bro . G . T . Goodinge , P . M ., as a candidate for installation in the chair of K . S . A Board of Installed Masters was then formed , and Bro . Manby was installed in the chair of K . S . The duties of Installing Master were performed by Bro . Norton , P . M ., who carried out the task in a way that reflected great credit on him . The W . M .

M . a Past Master ' s jewel in recognition of the very efficient

manner in which he had discharged the duties during his year of office . Bro . J . W . Goodinge , in reply , thanked the W . M . and the members of the lodge for the handsome jewel , and also for the great kindness and assistance he had always received from his officers and all the members of the lodge during * his year of office , and he should always remember the pleasant year he had had with them .

An adjournment was then made to the banqueting room , where a splendid repast was served , under the supervision of Bro . Bertini . The usual loyal toasts received hearty recognition , the solo to the first being rendered by Miss Evelyn Goodinge , younger daughter of the I . P . M . Bro . Perkins , P . G . D ., responded to the toast of " The

Grand Officers . " The toast of "The Visitors " was responded to by Bros . Perkins , Edmeston , Adams , and Keer . Before leaving the chair the W . M . said he most cordially thanked the members and friends , and most especially the Misses Goodinge , for the admirable selection of music that was rendered during the evening . The Tyler's toast closed the evening .

Duke of Fife ' odge ( No . 2345 ) . —At a meeting of this lodge , held at the Alexandra Hotel , Clapham Common , on Wednesday , the 19 th ult ., there were present Bros . S . Cochrane , P . M ., W . Organist .

Two candidates' names were submitted for initiation . At the banquet which followed , the W . M . proposed the usual loyal and Masonic toasts . In proposing "The Grand Officers , " the W . M . referred to the work they did for the good of the Order . He also said he trusted that they should soon have a Grand Ofiicer as a member to respond for that toast . One of their

members was shortly to be nominated for the office of Grand Treasurer . He trusted they would be able to have him unopposed , but did a battle take place they were determined to stand by him , and fight shoulder to shoulder . He believed that in such an event they would come out with flying colours . A large number of brethren had promised to support Bro . Everett , and not only had they promised to help ,

but they had also determined to do so in no half-hearted way , but with the certainty of winning . In proposing "The W . M ., " Bro . Everett , I . P . M ., said , as there was plenty of talent present , he would not make a long speech . He was sorry their visitors had not had the pleasure of seeing the VV . M . work the Degrees , for he could assure them they had missed a treat . There was no

need for him to laud the VV . M ., for the successof the lodge was a proof of the way he performed his duties . He thanked the VV . M . for the kind reference he had made to that which was so much to him at present . The W . M ., Bro . Cochrane , returned thanks , saying that as in the past , so in the future , he should perform any work that devolved upon him with heartiness .

In proposing "The Visitors , " the VV . M . said that he was glad to see among them so many visitors . One ( Bro . Poole ) was particularly well known to them , as he attended the same Masonic school where all of the members of the Duke of Fife Lodge had learnt their duties . In reply for the visitors , Bro . Poole said that they were so pleased with their reception , and the happy evening they

had spent , that they all hoped to have another chance of repeating their visit . In proposing "The Officers , " the VV . M . said that he could not speak too highly in their praise . They had learnt , and many other officers had learnt , their duties under the able S . VV . of that lodge . In reply , Bro . Westley , S . W ., said that he always tried to

do his best wherever he might be placed . Bro . Foikard , J . W ., said that he trusted to be a membei of the lodge to the end of his days , and hoped that he might long be able to perform his duty for the lodge . Bro . Andrews , S . D ., said he was pleased to be an officer of the lodge . Bro . Woods , Sec , was sorry that he had been absent

at the last meeting , especially as then they had an opportunity of testing the universality of the science . They believed in its universality , but with the presence of Bro . the Hon . J . A . M . Cart ' ny , W . M . of the Freetown Lodge , they had an opportunity of meeting hand to hand with a

brother who was a link between this country and the continent of Africa . That must have been a great pleasure , He was glad to perform the duties of Secretary , and trusted that he might long hold the office . Songs were given during the evening by Bros . Caink , Langdon , D . C ; Geo . Everett , I . P . M . ; Lyell , Stwd . ; Harrison , Lavender , and Roberts , and a recitation by Bro .

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

Andrews . The W . M . gave a surprise to the brethren by his singing of an original song , "The Happy Duke of Fife , " which traced the history of the formation of the lodge , and closed with sound advice . A most successful evening was closed by the Tyler ' s toast .

The minutes of the October meeting Jiaving been read and confirmed , Bros . Mason and Spicer were severally raised to the Sublime Degree of M . M ., the ceremony being admirably rendered by Bro . T . H . Martin , I . P . M . The ballot for W . M . for the ensuing year then took place , and resulted in the unanimous election of Bro . J . E . Cussans , S . W . Bro . Hopkins was re-elected Treasurer , and Bro .

Goddard Tyler . The by-laws were read , and the inventory , which had been carefully gone through , taken as read . _ On the motion of Bro . Brittain , P . M ., a sum of four guineas was voted from the funds of the lodge towards defraying the cost of the musical arrangements , while on the motion of Bro . Young , the usual sum was voted for a Past Master's jewel , to be presented to Bro . Baxter , W . M .,

on retiring from the chair , as a mark of the esteem and respect in which he is held by the members . The usual contribution having , on the motion of Bro . Gray , P . M ., been voted towards the cost of publishing the Provincial Calendar , and a Committee to audit the year ' s

accounts having been appointed , lodge was closed , and the brethren dined together , the brief speeches being interspersed with some capital songs excellently sung by Bros . Gray , Lewis , Collingwood , Mason , Anneveld , and Spicer . Be it added that the toasts of " The W . M ., " " The W . M , Elect , " and "The Visitors" were received with a special measure of applause .

Mottoes and Hags hung around the walls , and there was a numerous display of plants on the platform and in the windows .

The brethren spent a very enjoyable afternoon and evening . There were a number of good speeches given and songs sung . Bros . White and Heath presided at the pianoforte , in fact it was one of the best St . John ' s Day that has been held by the lodge . The financial position of the lod ge was also considered satisfactory .
