M ., and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was proposed by the W . M ., who referred in feeling terms to the great loss sustained by His Royal Highness , and the Craft throughout , by the death of Bro . Lord Lathom , Pro G , Master .
The toasts of " The Prov . Grand Masters of Devon and Cornwall , Hon . Sir H . Stafford Northcote , M . P ., and the Earl of Mount Edgecombe ( who from a prior engagement was unable to attend ) , and their P . G . Lodges , " were duly proposed by the W . M ., and Bros . Westcott , P . P . J . G . D . ; J . R . Lord , P . G . D . C ; and Handlake , P . Asst . G . Sec , responded for the former , all referring to the universal esteem in which the P . G . Master and his deputy , Bro . G . C . Davie , were held throughout the province of Devon .
Bro . Col . Geo . Edyvean , R . E ., responded for the Province of Cornwall , and pointed out that the P . G . Master was almost as much claimed byDavon as Cornwall , and he trusted that long would the Earl be spared to rule a province so contented under his government . The toast of "The VV . M ., Bro . F . J . Prout , " was proposed by Bro . C . J . Moore , S , W ., who , from knowledge as friend and fellow oflicer , claimed that each and every qualification for the chair was possesseed by the W . M . The toast was received with the greatest enthusiasm and musical honours .
The W . M ., in response , fervently thanked the brethren lor the confidence reposed in him , and said that he looked forward pleased with the anticipation of a happy year of ofiice , there being such hatmony abounding throughout the lodge . The toast of " Fhe I . P . M ., Bro . Treasure , " was most ably proposed by Bro . Leach , who , 1 aving given expression to the admirable manner in which the late Master had conducted the affairs of the Iodge , proceeded to present him with a Life Governorship in the R . M . U . I . ( Widows' Fund ) to mark the esteem in which he was held by all the brethren .

The report of the Audit Committee was submitted , and on its showing the lodge to be in a sound financial position , it was received , adopted , and ordered to be entered on the minutes . Messrs . M ., the Earl of Lathom ; he then alluded to the interesting fact of the birth of a son to the I . P . M ., Bro . Geo . Powell .
Bro . the Rev . J . S . Brownrigg also spoke of the character of the Playgoers Lodge it was in fact excellent beyond all criticism . The I . P . M . tha nked the brethren for their kind wishes in regard to his son , and trusted he might be spared by the G . A . O . T . U . one future day to instal his son as W . M . of the Playgo : rs Lodge ; he hoped he would carry out his duties as well as their present W . M ., whose health he gave most heartily . It was cordially responded to by the brethren . Bro . Fred Russell gave an amusing ventriloquical entertainment .

He spoke of the origin of the lodge , how it was looked upon at first with disfavour by the Playgoers' Club , but that both now went harmoniously hand in hand together . Escott , the club steward . The toast of "The Queen , " given by the W . M ,, was very ably responded to by Bro . Hornbrook , the Ma " yor of Devonport . "The M . W . G . M ., and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was proposed by the W . M ., who referred in feeling terms to the great loss sustained by His Royal Highness , and the Craft throughout , by the death of Bro . Lord Lathom , Pro G , Master .
The toasts of " The Prov . Grand Masters of Devon and Cornwall , Hon . Sir H . Stafford Northcote , M . P ., and the Earl of Mount Edgecombe ( who from a prior engagement was unable to attend ) , and their P . G . Lodges , " were duly proposed by the W . M ., and Bros . Westcott , P . P . J . G . D . ; J . R . Lord , P . G . D . C ; and Handlake , P . Asst . G . Sec , responded for the former , all referring to the universal esteem in which the P . G . Master and his deputy , Bro . G . C . Davie , were held throughout the province of Devon .
Bro . Col . Geo . Edyvean , R . E ., responded for the Province of Cornwall , and pointed out that the P . G . Master was almost as much claimed byDavon as Cornwall , and he trusted that long would the Earl be spared to rule a province so contented under his government . The toast of "The VV . M ., Bro . F . J . Prout , " was proposed by Bro . C . J . Moore , S , W ., who , from knowledge as friend and fellow oflicer , claimed that each and every qualification for the chair was possesseed by the W . M . The toast was received with the greatest enthusiasm and musical honours .
The W . M ., in response , fervently thanked the brethren lor the confidence reposed in him , and said that he looked forward pleased with the anticipation of a happy year of ofiice , there being such hatmony abounding throughout the lodge . The toast of " Fhe I . P . M ., Bro . Treasure , " was most ably proposed by Bro . Leach , who , 1 aving given expression to the admirable manner in which the late Master had conducted the affairs of the Iodge , proceeded to present him with a Life Governorship in the R . M . U . I . ( Widows' Fund ) to mark the esteem in which he was held by all the brethren .

The brethren adjourned to an excellent banquet in the Victoria Hall , after which the usual Masonic toasts were given . "The Queen and the Craft" having been given , "God save the Queen , " was sung . "Ihe M . W . G . M . H . R . H . the Prince of Wales " followed .
Bro . Churchill gave a comic recitation , " Why he called . " Bro . Ludlow sang " The Clang of the Forge . " The toast of " The M . W . Pro G . M ., Earl Amherst ; the R . W . Dep . G . M ., the Earl of Warwick ; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was next given by the W . M .
Song , " One and Twenty , " by J . E . Fraser , encore , " Down in the Vale . " Bro . Fenn replied , and spoke in feeling terms of the loss sustained by the death of Pro G . M ., the Earl of Lathom ; he then alluded to the interesting fact of the birth of a son to the I . P . M ., Bro . Geo . Powell .
Bro . the Rev . J . S . Brownrigg also spoke of the character of the Playgoers Lodge it was in fact excellent beyond all criticism . The I . P . M . tha nked the brethren for their kind wishes in regard to his son , and trusted he might be spared by the G . A . O . T . U . one future day to instal his son as W . M . of the Playgo : rs Lodge ; he hoped he would carry out his duties as well as their present W . M ., whose health he gave most heartily . It was cordially responded to by the brethren . Bro . Fred Russell gave an amusing ventriloquical entertainment .
The W . M . replied in a few felicitous phrases . He spoke of the origin of the lodge , how it was looked upon at first with disfavour by the Playgoers' Club , but that both now went harmoniously hand in hand together . The next toast was " The Installing Master and I . P . M . " Song , Bro . Arthur Grover , ' I love you yet . " The I . P . M . replied . He spoke of the extraordinary success which attended the young lodge in that , the first , year of its existence , eulogised in glowing terms the
officers who worked so harmoniously with him during his year of office , and prophesied a brilliant future for the lodge . * Mr . John Douglas gave a selection on the banjo , which was well received . Bro . Chris . Hepper gave an original recitation , "The Playgoers' Club , " in which , in a pleasing manner , allusion was made to some of the traits of its leading members . Mr . A . Prince gave an excellent entertainment on the concertina—selections from Wagner , " Lohengrin , " and Tannhauser , " and from Balfe , and eave " The Bohemian
uirl as an encore . I he artistic rendering was fully appreciated by all present . To the toast of " The D . C . " Bro . G . Powell replied , thanking the brethren for their kindness .
